Internationally revered for their progressive programming, electronic music institution The Hydra, steps back into the light with two Goliath shows at The Drumsheds London on Saturday 27th November and Saturday 18th December 2021.
The Hydra has been at the beating heart of underground house and techno since its inception in 2012, proudly showcasing seminal figures alongside exciting rising talent.
For their Drumsheds mini-series, The Hydra pays homage to each genre, with two carefully curated programmes that put the spotlight on collaborative sets. Always striving to offer something special and unique to their community, The Hydra’s exploration into one of electronic music’s most playful formats is sure to provide plenty of surprises, unbeatable energy and dancefloor sessions that will live long in the memory for those in attendance as many of the artist play together for the first time.
November’s show, dubbed ‘To Be’ offers a dancefloor-focused journey through techno’s many textures. One of the most venerated artists in electronic music, Jeff Mills will be the only act to perform solo, with The Drumsheds’ industrial aesthetics providing the perfect backdrop as The Wizard weaves his magic.
Topping the back-to-back schedule, techno titans Nina Kraviz and Paula Temple will go head-to-head for a high-octane set of pounding beats from two of the industry’s most in-demand artists. Making for one of the most interesting pairings of the series, electro-tinged Modeselektor will go back-to-back with the dynamic and dexterous stylings of Special Request, and showcasing some of the most heavily backed rising talent, TYGAPAW will exchange sonic blows with Physical Therapy and Tailor Jae joins forces with Yung Singh.
The Hydra’s December edition; ‘Not To Be’, invites house music fans for an epic day of music. Featuring special guest, Jon Hopkins the forward-thinking programme includes some of the industry’s most accomplished selectors, with the formidable pairing of Four Tet b2b Floating Points, Detroit infused sounds from Carl Craig b2b Moodymann and plenty of hidden gems from Danilo Plessow AKA Motor City Drum Ensemble b2b Jennifer Cardini.
