Motech’s first release of 2021 is by Rob StrobE with his ‘Home EP’ [MT141], the first in a series of releases from him for the label. StrobE recently made his Motech debut on their recently released compilation ‘Consortium Vol.2’, a compilation that has received strong support from the likes of Dave Clarke. Rob’s track inclusion also ended a seven-year hiatus of releasing music from this Offenbach (Germany) artist. During which time he migrated from software based production to the modular and hardware world. The results are here to be heard in these four amazing tracks.
The opening track is ‘Super Villain’, which “comes straight from the heart to the dance floor” says StrobE. Crisp percussion elements infused with driving chords make this the perfect opener and a great tool for any Detroit techno enthusiast. Track two, ‘Optimal Power Flow’, StrobE explains, is one of those tracks that just happens when jamming on the modular. “The groove just became the flow and one led to another – luckily, I pressed record at the right time!”
Next up is ‘Serve Greatness’ and in his own words, StrobE says: “imagine a hot day in July, imagine no AC – this is when this stomper was born and recorded.” Final track, ‘Condensed’ closes the EP with a menacing groove. If pushed, Rob StrobE describes his music as Dub-House-Techno with a pinch of Detroit. Or as the label would describe: 100% Motech.
‘Home EP‘ by Rob StrobE [MT141] is available on Motech Records via all digital and streaming platforms from February 19th.
