Planet E Communications is a label founded in 1991 by Carl Craig, it holds a great catalog that contributed to shape, song after song, the roots of techno music. Legendary dj and producer Jerome Sydenham meets again Cosmic Soldier (alias used by Fatima Njai) for the creation of ‘Deeplight / Black Dog’, a small two tracker that features an intriguing and alternative vision of contemporary techno, far away from the mainstream styles. The release is already available on digital format, anyway the vinyl version is on the way to being sold this week. ‘Deeplight’ opens with a straight four to the floor drum loop, while industrial inspired synths and fxs interact with obscure vocal samples; as overall the result is muddy but thriving. Follows ‘Black Dog’ that plays a short string melody, which is heavily delayed on the tail: for sure we already heard something like this on many house tracks, that’s why it makes a huge contrast with the instrumental.
