Cultural Exhib - 8-12

Lady Of The House Cultural Exhibition @ Lost Horizon HQ, Bristol (UK) 08-12.03.2022

– Spanish DJ & fashion stylist/influencer, Sita Abellan joined by Russian Berlin-based queer activist and curator Katya Kov with her ‘Queer Across and Beyond’ exhibition

Launching their first ever Cultural Exhibition in Bristol, the Lady of The House team welcome international ‘queer’ friendly artists Sita Abellan and Russian Berlin-based activist and artist, Katya Kov, who make their UK debuts with a unique show that reflects their cultural journey. On display during the Exhibition and for two weeks, Sita has curated a bespoke selection of striking images reflective of the LoTH ethos “celebrating, championing and honouring women” some of which will be featured in a huge street poster campaign around Bristol (from the people behind the BLM one in 2020).

‘Tastemaker, DJ and fashion-forward artist Sita Abelian has been expressing her eclectic visions of aestheticism across the digital globe – transfixing her audience with all her endeavours. From techno to modelling to her newest jewellery line, Sita brings her all ‘. (Glamcult)

A true multi-hyphenate, discovered through her content creation on Tumblr and Instagram, Sita is at the vanguard of a new wave of LGBTQ cultural tastemakers. Pushing boundaries where music and style collide, she’s as adept at playing for underground crowds at Ibiza’s iconic DC10 as she is walking Parisian runways or designing capsule collections for major brands. Her unique style has seen her collaborate with latin superstar, J Balvin and designers such as Fendi and Chanel.

Resident DJ for Moschino fashion icon, Jeremy Scott for several years, Sita was handpicked by Seth Troxler & The Martinez Brothers to play their ibiza Tuskegee showcase and toured the USA with house icon Felix da Housecat, winning over legions of new fans playing uncompromising techno on major festival stages. Sita recently released a new track  ‘Cult of Personality’ Regal & Sita Abelian Remix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lVML7nhA3Q and also had a casual cameo in Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money” music video.

Russian Berlin-based queer activist, artist and curator Katya Kov, and co-founder of the queer music and art-collective SADO OPERA  premiers her interdisciplinary exhibition ‘Queer Across and Beyond’. Driving a message of gender equality and dedicated to feminist and queer activist art in Russia, her installation highlights the works of ground-breaking queer Russian artists Lolja Nordic, Sasha Kazentseva, Viktor Vilisov and Ivan Vydumvlev.

Katya is one of the founder members of the flamboyant electro-funk pop group Sado Opera, who also self-describe as a ‘queer performance band’. They first came together in St. Petersburg, gaining attention for their V For Vendetta-style painted faces, and their eclectic stage shows, and residents at Wild Renate in Berlin.

Championing the Lady of the House message through art also is V&A Dundee and designer Jenny Elliott, who collaborated to produce the ‘Women In Club Culture’ music map alongside a series of visual prints. The limited edition art will be available Exclusively to buy at the Lady Of The House Exhibition.
