Procombo returns to Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects with four-track techno EP ‘U Wanna’. 

Active in Istanbul’s techno scene since the mid ’90s, Procombo heads up RX Recordings, an offshoot of the vital RX Istanbul club in the city. Returning to Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects Label this September after 2021’s ‘Orpheus’, the DJ/producer delivers four new hard-hitting techno tracks.

‘U Wanna’ gets straight to the point as rattling drums push up against swirling pads leading into a hooky vocal destined for emotional dancefloor moments, while ‘Bei Bei’ keeps the energy levels up with its fluid and shuffling percussion. ‘Particles of Groove’ sees warped hits twist and turn alongside modulating stabs and delayed FX before ‘Hopeless Romantic’ brings tight, punchy snares together with spoken word snippets over trippy earworms to close out the EP.

The original is an infectious underground tune with a catchy and late night mood, while the other original titled ‘Don’t Deny Me’ still explores club oriented motifs. The EP is filled with two interesting interpretations of the title track: Swavé opts for a techno oriented sound and DZR adapts the main theme into a solid house instrumental.

EKEI is a new tech house imprint featuring original music from record label owner Alfie Rhodes along with a remix by Sunday Noise.

The release’s groovy basslines, chunky percussion and catchy vocals have already caught the attention of DJs including the likes of Jamie Jones, wAFF and The Martinez Brothers.

Alfie Rhodes is a Greek artist who has also released tech house and deep tech tracks under the alias of Anastasis. He has released tracks on other record labels ranging from Flipside to EDM Underground and is also a talented DJ who plays regularly in Greece plus its surrounding areas.

Sunday Noise is a DJ and producer from Perú who has released tracks on labels such as Glasgow Underground, Street King and Steve Lawler’s VIVa LIMITED. He is also a respected DJ who is well-known on the South American club scene.

“Flex On Me” opens the release with its funky bassline, bumping percussion and choppy guitar licks. The track’s pumped-up vocals about hitting the gym are the main focal element and they add to the upbeat vibe of this dance floor ready cut.

Sunday Noise’s remix of “Flex On Me” switches out the bassline and works in some tribal percussion. It’s a hypnotic rework with a stripped-back groove that’s perfect for the sun-drenched dance floors of places like DC-10 in Ibiza.

“Online Ghost” closes out the release with jazzy chords and the soulful tones of a hip hop inspired vocal. It’s a slow-burning track that’s got deep grooves and a moody atmosphere that’s perfect for late nights and early mornings.

Mha Iri is back on UMEK’s 1605 with another peak-time techno EP that blends sensual vocals with thundering percussion and tantalising synth lines.

She is a talented techno artist who spent many years living in Australia where she became a driving force in the country’s techno scene before recently returning home to Scotland.

This is Mha Iri’s eighth release on 1605 including a collaboration with UMEK, and she has also featured on other scene-leading techno imprints such as AnalyticTrail, Codex and Respekt Recordings.

In addition to her many top-selling tracks on sites like Beatport, Mha Iri is also an accomplished DJ who has played intentional gigs across Europe and other parts of the world.

“You Are Mine” is the EP’s title track and it opens with rattling high-end percussion and a pulsating bassline. The lead synth slowly fades in as it builds towards the breakdown’s twisted euphoria that’s augmented by captivating vocals. When the drums come crashing back in they are joined by a dramatic synth line that rips through the speaker to lift things up a gear.

“In My Soul” is a hard-hitting track that unleashes its full force from the very first beat with its fusion of brutal percussion and a throbbing bassline. Its stomping groove is led by bursts from the acid lead synth before the sub-bass of the breakdown section sets the scene for the energy to be taken up a notch when the drums slam back in.
