Simone De Kunovich debuted on Mule Music in January ’22 with the four tracker ‘Mondo Nuovo’, showing a great way to interpret deep / tech house styles. As suggested by the title ‘Addio, Mondo Nuovo’ (addio means goodbye) and the music, this brand new EP partially abandons the influences that brought to the creation of the old release, introducing new contaminations and totally avoiding the songwriter’s block. The whole atmosphera goes specific and sometimes enigmatic, creating soundscapes that flip the mind into an unconscious but intricate state.

Uncertain formerly worked as Boriqua Tribez and has been at the heart of the European underground for years. Under this alias, he brings a love of the classic sound to a passion for the frantic side of techno and is a thrilling DJ who plays across three decks with rare dexterity. The likes of Richie Hawtin, Ben Sims and Amelie Lens are bona fide fans of his music. Under both aliases, he has made more than 50 EPs on labels such as KMS, Kneaded Pains and Uncage. Now he steps up to one of the contemporary scene’s finest imprints.
First up is ‘Suspect’ which immediately locks you into its tunneling techno groove. As the seductive rubbery drums race on, chattery claps pepper the mix and warped vocals add a freaky atmosphere. It’s banging but controlled, hard but funky and perfect for heady dance floors.
The superb ‘Anxious’ then takes off at high speed on a cantering techno rhythm. The bulky drums and razor-sharp hi-hats never let up as a whip-snapping bassline darts around below. It’s high tension, high-pressure, supple and driving techno with deft synths that add just enough colour next to the clipped soul of the vocal stabs.
This is a brilliant brace of powerful techno cuts from Uncertain and Mind Medizin.

Electronic music still allows (more than ever) international collaborations: New York connects London thanks to Zansika Lachhani and Anthony Collins, who decided to output their brand new music under the ZG alias. Their self titled album is a touching homage to jazz, downtempo, broken beat and house motifs. The various songs create a fascinating and distinctive sound, which intensifies from the middle of the tracklist: the instrumentals adopt a mutating and reinforced formula that adds catchiness without loosing the artist’s music signature, made with smooth rhythms and heavenly vocals or melodies.

A prolific, beloved member of the German techno community, Weimar-based producer/DJ Gabor Schablitzki is known for his steadily paced yet unconventional productions, his eclectic full-lengths, and his adventurous mix sets. He achieved recognition during the 2000s for his bountiful output of original tracks and remixes under several names, most notably Robag Wruhme and Wighnomy Brothers (a partnership with Sören Bodner). As Wruhme, he demonstrated his versatility with his 2004 debut full-length, Wuzzelbud “KK,” which ventured from techno into hip-hop and IDM. Continuing to release ambient techno full-lengths such as 2019’s Venq Tolep and more club-primed singles, he’s also displayed his prowess on the decks with mixes such as 2021’s Connecting the Dot

Two rising stars in pin-sharp form, Chris Avantgarde and Kevin De Vries have linked for the first time to deliver the masterful ‘Mind Control’. The release marks Avantgarde’s maiden appearance on Drumcode, while this is De Vries’ second following up the excellent ‘Eternity’ on A-Sides Vol.5 way back in 2016.
Since then, De Vries has gone on to become a mainstay with Afterlife, playing their shows all over the world and releasing a string of quality weapons on the label, highlighted by his recent single, ‘Dance With Me’. Meanwhile, Avantgarde is a classically trained musician, who’s in hot demand for his skills composing music for films and video games, while also being drafted for an official remix of Billie Eilish, no less. More recently stepping into the techno space, he co-produced one of the year’s biggest melodic techno anthems ‘Consciousness’ with Anyma, one half of Tale of Us. The track was supported by Adam Beyer, leading to Avantgarde being square on the radar of the Drumcode boss.
‘Mind Control’ is a captivating synthesis of both artists’ musical identities; a stadium-sized slice of cinematic techno imbued with a dramatic sonic arc that makes it genuinely goose-bump inducing. “We wanted to create a song that combined both worlds, something both melodic that still felt club-centric and majestic with a storytelling quality throughout, but without being too high-brow,” Avantgarde shares. ‘Condition’ is the perfect accompaniment, a deft tool for DJs to play at any tempo.
Both tracks have been rinsed throughout the summer, with highlights including Amnesia, Loveland Festival and Awakenings.
