Samuel L Session & Van Czar drop the ‘Bones EP’ on Symbolism

Following 2022’s ‘Motion EP’ for Ben Sims’ Hardgroove imprint, Swedish techno legend Samuel L Session and Belgian mainstay Van Czar leap to sister-label Symbolism for the ‘Bones EP’ this February.

Adeptly applied distortion, a bare-bones rhythm track and a relentless acid line make for a whacking opener in ‘Morning Debris’ while the contrasting and spotlessly clean, arp bassline fuelled ‘Marked Spot’ delivers equal intensity as the EP unfolds.

A new outlet for the Spaniard’s own productions, adding to his co-run imprint MÜSE alongside Eddy M, the label launches with Cruz’s vibrant new single ‘Una Rumbita’ on 16th February 2023.

DJ/producer, label boss, and Solid Grooves favourite Dennis Cruz launches his new label CRZ this February, as he continues to showcase his trademark sound as a leading talent within the global house music landscape. Building on the success of various label projects across his career, including MÜSE, which he co-founded alongside Eddy M in 2019, the new imprint will serve as an additional home solely for the Spaniard’s own productions – with a series of releases planned across the months ahead.

The first release arrives on 16th February and welcomes Cruz’s first music of 2023 in the form of his new single, ‘Una Rumbita’ – following tracks such as ‘So Sweet’, ‘Business And Pleasure’ and ‘Poke Bowl’ via both MÜSE and Solid Grooves across the past 12 months.

Borak ignites the Magician On Duty music catalogue with a great EP titled ‘Le Magistrat’. Following a triumphant start to 2023, E1 now unveils its most eclectic season to date. The world’s most sought-after artists such as Blawan, Pantha Du Prince, Dr Rubinstein, Dubfire, DVS1, Ellen Allien, Hector Oaks, Indira Paganotto, Kangding Ray, Kelly Lee Owens, Marcel Dettmann, Matrixxman, Mood II Swing, Nastia, Special Request plus many more will all break and explore the boundaries of electronic music within the hallowed walls of their esteemed east London Warehouse and infamous Black Studio. Excitingly for this latest run of events, all new screens will run up the wall behind the performers, from floor to ceiling and above the heads of the crowd, offering a whole new visual dimension. These will be displaying bespoke seasonal content created by the expert Spencer at Rebel Overlay. It will be regularly updated to keep the venue feeling fresh and each party unique on top of the over 151 lighting fixtures which range from spots to beams to lasers to pixel-mapped LED bars. In all, there are 4,620,288 pixels in total with a 4k canvas that spans the full length of the venue for the ultimate in immersive technology.
This cult underground club boasts next level audio visual and lighting with both E1 music rooms featuring bespoke Funktion-One sound systems that have been designed, installed and maintained by Sound Services Ltd. They include cutting-edge Evolution 6 Mid Highs and the revolutionary new linear transducer-powered BR132A Bass enclosures. This new technology can deliver unparalleled low end with precision and unlock low frequency information that goes unnoticed on most audio systems, while the BR132 is the largest, deepest and most powerful of Funktion-One’s bass reflex series of bass loudspeakers.
The Warehouse and Black Studio sound systems and DJ setups have been configured and optimized to provide DJs with the very best equipment which will make for the very best experience for all. The interiors of both the Black Studio and Warehouse have been completely redesigned around the audio installation, DJ and dance floor resulting in a precise, powerful, full frequency range acoustic experience and E1 has invested in sound proofing to protect neighbours and deliver an unrestricted dance floor sound experience.

The first wave of elrow Town London 2023 artist announcements is here, the team are thrilled to announce that Fisher, the world-renowned artist and producer, will be performing at the UK version of the festival for the first time. Prepare for an electrifying and high-energy performance on the Nowmads stage that will leave little space for anything else. The dynamic duo Gorgon City will be joining Fisher on the lineup for an exclusive performance, bringing their unique blend of bass-driven house music and addictive vocals to get the crowd moving alongside Patrick Topping, one of the most talked-about DJs of this generation, will be serving up his signature flow and dancefloor hits on the Delusionville stage to keep the party going strong.

Last but not least, the legendary Armand Van Helden will make his debut at elrow Town London. This legendary DJ and producer has been a force in the dance music scene for decades, and his performance at the Rowlympic Games stage is not to be missed.

Sabo’s record label, Sol Selectas is celebrating its 100th release with an Afro house track by Sabo alongside a remix from Hyenah.

Sol Selectas launched in 2006 and is one of the record labels that helped pioneer the downtempo/organic house sound that has become a global phenomenon in recent years with the help of events such as Burning Man.

Alongside Sabo’s own music, the label’s star-studded roster includes influential artists such as Satori, Be Svendsen, Armen Miran, Goldcap, Unders and Namito.

Based in Los Angeles, America, Sabo is a globe-trotting headline DJ who has played everywhere from Coachella to Hï Ibiza to ADE in Amsterdam. His music takes influence from the different cultures he has experienced and this gives Sabo an exotic sound that radiates warmth like the hot desert sun.

Hyenah is part of the RISE CREW, which is also running the highly acclaimed RISE MUSIC label, and the imprints accosted party series at Watergate in Berlin. Well known within the Afro house community for his percussive flair and enchanting melodies, Hyenah’s tracks have been released by record labels ranging from John Digweed’s Bedrock to Jimpster’s Freerange Records.

The original mix of “Bomeno” opens the release with a shuffling groove and vibrant Afro percussion that fills the track with upbeat energy. Dramatic synth stabs stride forth to create tension while the vocals add trippy vibes with their muffled tones

Second on the release is Hyenah’s remix of Bomeno, which is a stripped-back version that focuses on the percussion sounds. Spiralling rhythms and a new bassline give the track a jackin’ flow that expands the original’s tribal influence.

The artwork by Helia Jamali shows the vast land of Bomé, with its divine mother Bomeno, meditating peacefully on the horizon.

Arketip Discs is a Barcelona-based vinyl and digital imprint co-founded by Spear and Makuto that has featured music by Truncate, Stefan Vincent, Eduardo De La Calle and ORBE.

Welcoming Lōn to the label, a duo formed by Adrià Ponsa and Oscar Molina, they list appearances on Lewis Fautzi’s Faut Section and Berlin’s End of Perception.

Reeko is a hugely respected Spanish artist who heads up Mental Disorder and has released on Oscar Mulero’s PoleGroup, Ben Sims’ Symbolism and Svreca’s Semantica to name only a few.

Temudo is a standout Portuguese producer who has tailored his magic touch to labels such as Ben Klock’s Klockworks, Slam’s Soma, Developer’s Modularz, Bas Mooy’s Mord, Cleric’s Clergy as well as co-founding HAYES.

“A Dead Body Falling” lays down an intense and deep meticulous melodic venture, exposing his highly addictive modular sounds. A four-by-four workout marked by an intense flavour that repeats throughout the entire track, spiced with spatial sounds that make it an energetic tool destined for nonstop dancing.

“The Shape of My Drum” is a complex mesh of syncopated industrial rhythms and emphasised soundscapes. It’s a multi-layered exercise where percussions make a powerful passage.

Reeko delivers a mesmerising remix that immerses in the creation of a multidimensional effects narrative. Everything in this track is highly precise, where floating patterns shaken by driving saturated drums lead a hefty mental experience.

Temudo’s remix includes rude and repetitive rhythms while the mastermind also eliminates any melodic passages and emphasises a devastating architecture specially designed for the dance floor.

MÉTIER is the new label from Jack! Who? and his UK based deathtechno.com project that is set to journey into deep, dreamy, dub, techno, acid, electro and ambient that will surprise and delight from release to release.

Allowing artists to experiment with new ideas, it has already featured UBX127 of Len Faki’s Figure as Shifted Minds, Alex Dolby of Developer’s Modularz as AX15 and William Arist of Gary Beck’s BEK Audio as Dusicyon for example.

His educated sound is much loved around the world and Horizons is an album that allows Alex to step into different territory by having electro at its core combined with classic ’90s, analogue vibes and deep soultronica.

“True Spirit” opens with harmonic drones and sci-fi ambience before climaxing with a punchy breakbeat. “Nearly Fifty” continues the theme, but with an acid hook and lo-fi style. “Moments” steps into a new realm of thundering electro making it a raw and mesmerising journey. “Model 28” has a modular heart with a classic and engaging sound. “Night Visions” is an angular exploration with shimmering highlights and a quirky groove. “Linear Dimension” takes it back to raw electro while presenting some emotional, arpeggiated chords. “Shades” has a heavy beat offset with haunting, dystopian vibes.
