South American scene mainstay Leo Janeiro steps up to Cocada Music with a pair of new singles to kick off the year in style.

Leo Janeiro is the influential Brazilian who runs things behind the scenes with Get Physical Music’s Latin America-focussed sub-label. Arguably one of the most outstanding DJs to emerge from Brazil’s close-knit electronic music scene, his taste and technical ability made him a much-loved Warung and D-Edge resident who has gone on to play around the world. He has released a number of superb singles on this label and now returns in brilliant fashion.

‘Marambaia’ kicks off with a hip-swinging disco-house groove. Retro-future drums and synths have classic vocals over the top as lush chords bring Latin soul. It’s a timeless jam with lovely cosmic melodies and a feel-good vibe that will warm up any dance floor. ‘Uncle Silva’ is just as unique. It’s another stylish and musical cut with loose percussion over fat bass. Acid twitches and big string samples add colour and build the tension as this charismatic cut races onwards with a real sense of spirit and a spine-tingling vocal.

These are two life-affirming and original tunes from Janeiro.

‘Red Earth Creek’ is a second seductive single from Höhn’s upcoming self-titled album.

Höhn’s spent nine years touring Europe and North America with the neo-soul band he founded, Busty and the Bass. During that time he played at the likes of SXSW and Montreal Jazz Festival, and supported heavyweights like Anderson.Paak picking up critical praise from Billboard, Rolling Stone and MOJO.

As a pianist as well as a composer of music for notable TV shows for the likes of Netflix and a live musician, Eric had an eye-opening experience in Berlin that showed him the immediate emotional impact of techno and so broadened his musical horizons. That entailed heading out into his local Canadian landscapes to make field recordings and turn them into individual songs that captured their surroundings. The album arrives in March but first comes this second single from it.

The beautiful ‘Red Earth Creek’ is like a comforting hug whose melodies give you goosebumps. It then heads out on an organic techno trip through endless woodlands. The drums are warm, the sounds live with soul and spirit and the melodies are captivating. Says Eric of the tune, “We remember the perseverance that takes over in the elements, the capacity for non-human connection to sway and shift our insides into a primal state of relaxation.”

This cultured new take on organic techno is another highlight from a forthcoming full-length that is full of them.

connected favourites Diamond Dealer & Idd Aziz are back on the label, this time as collaborators on the sublime new single ‘Peah’.

Diamond Dealer is a South African artist who has made it onto the world stage having risen up from playing in the heart of the local townships in Bloemfontein. He has now played alongside the likes of Black Coffee, and DJ Kent all across Europe, Asia and Africa. His collaborator here, multi-talented singer and musician Idd Aziz, is very much the voice of the current Afro house sound and has worked with a wide array of its most vital producers and labels. This new cut has already had early support from the likes of Jamie Jones, Laurent Garnier and Shimza who included it on a mix for BBC Radio 1 Xtra.

‘Peah’ translates from Swahili as ‘to give’ and is a feel-good Afro house track with uplifting piano. It has your mind turning to warmer summer days with its bubbling grooves and the spiritual vocals up top from Aziz. This one is a modern update on a classic club anthem sound and is sure to get plenty of outdoor play as things warm up.

A new outlet for the Spaniard’s own productions, adding to his co-run imprint MÜSE alongside Eddy M, the label launches with Cruz’s vibrant new single ‘Una Rumbita’ on 16th February 2023.

DJ/producer, label boss, and Solid Grooves favourite Dennis Cruz launches his new label CRZ this February, as he continues to showcase his trademark sound as a leading talent within the global house music landscape. Building on the success of various label projects across his career, including MÜSE, which he co-founded alongside Eddy M in 2019, the new imprint will serve as an additional home solely for the Spaniard’s own productions – with a series of releases planned across the months ahead.

The first release arrives on 16th February and welcomes Cruz’s first music of 2023 in the form of his new single, ‘Una Rumbita’ – following tracks such as ‘So Sweet’, ‘Business And Pleasure’ and ‘Poke Bowl’ via both MÜSE and Solid Grooves across the past 12 months.

Borak ignites the Magician On Duty music catalogue with a great EP titled ‘Le Magistrat’. This cult underground club boasts next level audio visual and lighting with both E1 music rooms featuring bespoke Funktion-One sound systems that have been designed, installed and maintained by Sound Services Ltd. They include cutting-edge Evolution 6 Mid Highs and the revolutionary new linear transducer-powered BR132A Bass enclosures. This new technology can deliver unparalleled low end with precision and unlock low frequency information that goes unnoticed on most audio systems, while the BR132 is the largest, deepest and most powerful of Funktion-One’s bass reflex series of bass loudspeakers.
The Warehouse and Black Studio sound systems and DJ setups have been configured and optimized to provide DJs with the very best equipment which will make for the very best experience for all. The first wave of elrow Town London 2023 artist announcements is here, the team are thrilled to announce that Fisher, the world-renowned artist and producer, will be performing at the UK version of the festival for the first time. Prepare for an electrifying and high-energy performance on the Nowmads stage that will leave little space for anything else. The dynamic duo Gorgon City will be joining Fisher on the lineup for an exclusive performance, bringing their unique blend of bass-driven house music and addictive vocals to get the crowd moving alongside Patrick Topping, one of the most talked-about DJs of this generation, will be serving up his signature flow and dancefloor hits on the Delusionville stage to keep the party going strong.

Last but not least, the legendary Armand Van Helden will make his debut at elrow Town London. This legendary DJ and producer has been a force in the dance music scene for decades, and his performance at the Rowlympic Games stage is not to be missed.

Sabo’s record label, Sol Selectas is celebrating its 100th release with an Afro house track by Sabo alongside a remix from Hyenah.

Sol Selectas launched in 2006 and is one of the record labels that helped pioneer the downtempo/organic house sound that has become a global phenomenon in recent years with the help of events such as Burning Man.

Alongside Sabo’s own music, the label’s star-studded roster includes influential artists such as Satori, Be Svendsen, Armen Miran, Goldcap, Unders and Namito.

Based in Los Angeles, America, Sabo is a globe-trotting headline DJ who has played everywhere from Coachella to Hï Ibiza to ADE in Amsterdam. His music takes influence from the different cultures he has experienced and this gives Sabo an exotic sound that radiates warmth like the hot desert sun.

Hyenah is part of the RISE CREW, which is also running the highly acclaimed RISE MUSIC label, and the imprints accosted party series at Watergate in Berlin. Well known within the Afro house community for his percussive flair and enchanting melodies, Hyenah’s tracks have been released by record labels ranging from John Digweed’s Bedrock to Jimpster’s Freerange Records.

The original mix of “Bomeno” opens the release with a shuffling groove and vibrant Afro percussion that fills the track with upbeat energy. Dramatic synth stabs stride forth to create tension while the vocals add trippy vibes with their muffled tones

Second on the release is Hyenah’s remix of Bomeno, which is a stripped-back version that focuses on the percussion sounds. Spiralling rhythms and a new bassline give the track a jackin’ flow that expands the original’s tribal influence.

The artwork by Helia Jamali shows the vast land of Bomé, with its divine mother Bomeno, meditating peacefully on the horizon.
