Time Warp Announces Headliners for 2020’s Mannheim Edition Ricardo Villalobos, Laurent Garnier, Sven Väth + dozens more lined up for 4th April

After a completely sold-out series of 25th Anniversary events around North and South America in 2019, Germany’s iconic Time Warp festival returns to its spiritual home, Mannheim for its 26th year, with 19 hours of music spread across seven floors kicking off on 4th April and featuring both red hot young talents and returning icons such as Ricardo Villalobos, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Dixon, Solomun, Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex, Adam Beyer, Amelie Lens, Dax J, Charlotte de Witte, Chris Liebing, DJ Koze, The Black Madonna, Sven Väth, Kobosil, KiNK LIVE, Luigi Madonna, Marco Carola, Nina Kraviz, Pan-Pot, Paula Temple and dozens more. 
For over a quarter-of-a-century, Time Warp has been synonymous with impressive line-ups and immersive production and floor designs that push technological boundaries. Says Cosmopop’s Robin Ebinger, “After our shows in São Paulo and New York City, we are very much looking forward to coming back to our home base in Mannheim on April 4th to kick off the next 25 years of Time Warp.”
“Our most recent addition to the Time Warp lineup (which debuted last year) is Floor 7, which will be back and better than ever in 2020. With help from returning partners Rockstar Games, Floor 7 will deliver a cutting edge lineup and an all new sensory experience combining design, sounds and visual technology.”

Time Warp 2020 reads as a list of the biggest and most influential names in house techno, from game changing pioneers to contemporary talents. All shades of techno are covered, from dark and driving to more ethereal and spaced out, with special live shows from Bulgarian wizard KiNK, synth maestro Mathew Jonson, Filth on Acid boss Reinier Zonneveld, and a DJ set from hard techno pair SHDW & Obscure Shape.
Next to those live shows, headlining DJs include Cocoon boss Sven Väth, Paradise man Jamie Jones, Drumcode’s Adam Beyer, Music On’s Marco Carola, Mosaic’s Maceo Plex and Second State pair, Pan-Pot. There’s also widescreen sounds from The Black Madonna, acid from Nina Kraviz, minimal from Richie Hawtin and Ricardo Villalobos, blistering grooves from Berghain resident Kobosil,Charlotte de Witte, Paula Temple, Amelie Lens, Chris Liebing, Detroit styles from Seth Troxler and high energy house from The Martinez Brothers, Solomun, Dixon, Gerd Janson, Loco Dice and an always-worth-catching, elegant selection from Time Warp regular, Laurent Garnier.

Cult favourite forest festival Planet Paradigm is back once again for third magical getaway. This one day trip goes down deep in the Groningen woods on May 23rd 2020 with the likes of Zip, DJ Masda, SIT (Cristi Cons & Vlad Caia), Onur Özer, Junki Inoue, Ferro B2B Benny Rodrigues, Abstract Division, Reiss, DJ Orchid B2B UlsT and many more all providing the stylish and stripped back soundtrack for a surreal intergalactic getaway.
VBX is hugely well respected in the underground dance world. The parties they throw in places like Amsterdam are always packed with proper music lovers thanks to the tasteful line-ups assembled. Each one mixes a crack team of residents with hot stars of the day and bona-fide legends. The team knows their local Amsterdam scene inside out and back to front and have a stylish minimal aesthetic to all they do, which means the music is always the main star. They know the best venues and put on legendary parties during ADE.
Meanwhile, once an abandoned warehouse, Paradigm is an important cultural hub located in a rural area of the northern Netherlands that has its own rich rave history. They also host their own wonderfully immersive festivals that create a space where you can be yourself and express yourself freely in a community with people from all walks of life. 
Once a year these two behemoths come together to create a unique one-day opening to Planet Paradigm. This cultural phenomenon is a close-knit affair with real music lovers and has sold out each and every time. It always takes in headliners who contribute their own classy, left-of-centre sounds to help visitors reach a higher state of consciousness by triggering all six senses from sunup until way past sundown. The surroundings are mystical, too, with unconventionally designed stages such as the Forest Stage, Dome Stage, Romney Stage and Club all immersing you in an escapist realm that feels many miles away from everyday life.

Brand new electronic music festival Waterworks will debut in East London on Saturday August 22nd 2020.
The brainchild of a group of friends including the founders of Percolate and Love International; Waterworks has been devised in a bid to create a totally unique offering for the capital. For one day only, a vibrant party will bring together the diverse talent that forms the foundation of London’s underground music scene, unconfined by genre or stature. The most promising rising stars rub shoulders with an array of the deepest diggers in the game and, with no headliners billed, all sets are given freedom to shine across the day. 
The musical offering unites an array of dance music royalty and exciting new talent, a blend of both DJ sets and live acts. Boasting some of the most revered selectors in electronic music, Andrew Weatherall, Ben UFO, Shanti Celeste   and more head up an eye-catching roster that includes SHERELLE, Call Super, Eris Drew and FAUZIA, as well as featuring the blistering bar delivery of man of the moment Novelist, a lesson in bass music courtesy of L U C Y and the unmistakeable drum and bass sounds of the legendary DJ Storm. Objekt, Krywald & Farrer, Body Hammer, Call Super, Saoirse and Craig Richards will also unleash genre-spanning sets throughout the event, with more still to come.
Team Waterworks says: “As soon as we found the site, the idea for Waterworks almost instantaneously came about.

The site is fully enclosed, meaning that it feels detached from the city, arriving in a destination you can hardly imagine from the busy metropolis nearby. It has the natural beauty of wildflower meadows, hinting at the adjacent nature reserve. It is hemmed in by trees along the river, that contrast with the industrial landscape that lies just beyond its borders. The nearest residents are at a reasonable distance from the site, making it ideal for minimising noise issues. We are working alongside a seasoned sound design team, so we can deliver the volume and sound pressure proper dance music deserves; we are confident of levels that are unparalleled in East London. We want to create intimate and architecturally intriguing open-air spaces that meld with the surroundings. We want to form unique dancefloors – somewhere to lose yourself in the moment.
Musically, we want to focus on some of the different flavours, strands and genres of dance music that have come to shape the rich musical heritage of London. This sonic palette stretches from the weirder sounds of Equiknoxx and Cõvco to the energy of younger artists like Sicaria Sound and Sherelle, to the gritty lyricism of Novelist. We want to pay homage to scene veterans like Andrew Weatherall and Mala, while also showcasing the current stalwarts of the scene like Ben UFO, Saoirse, Objekt and Shanti Celeste. Finally, we want to invite a few international guests from our extended friends and family who we feel are masters of their field bringing something exceptional, such as Eris Drew, Nicolas Lutz and Job Jobse.

Importantly – we don’t want something dominated by ‘headliners’, but a lineup that is greater than the sum of its parts. We don’t want to barge on to the festival calendar with excessive exclusivities that inhibit the vital local club scene. We also want to help provide a platform for the younger artists that we are really excited about with set times that you might usually find for a headline act. We want to build a festival that our mates would come to but also for dance music lovers, young or old.”+++

Makaton returns to Rodz-Konez label for his first release of 2020, which follows November’s ‘Lustrate’.

Steve Bailey a.k.a. Makaton has been at the forefront of techno releasing peerless, influential and experimental techno music since 1998. Bailey is from Birmingham in the UK, and along with Surgeon and Regis pushes an upfront and raw sound. With his heritage rooted deeply in the heavily industrialised “Black Country” area of the Midlands, he operates in the dark and industrial landscape.

Rodz-Konez was started in 1998 as an outlet for Makaton to release music. All but a handful of Makaton releases have come through his Rodz-Konez operation, a label that has released music by Regis and Inigo Kennedy, among other techno luminaries. Since its inception, the label has had more than 60 releases firmly embedding the Rodz-Konez psyche in the techno scene.

Makaton’s unique production style leans heavily on dub, industrial, no wave and minimalism concepts. His experimental approach has seen him introduce new ways to represent techno and leave outdated approaches to the genre at the wayside. He joined James Ruskin’s Blueprint label in 2015 and since then, has had 3 releases and an exclusive track on their 20th anniversary compilation. He has also released two records on Belgium’s Token, and is now a mainstay on the German Voitax label.

Makaton’s compelling live set electrifies audiences and has seen him bolster techno in the UK, across Europe, USA, Mexico and in Asia playing at the world’s top clubs while also supporting burgeoning local scenes. Makaton’s live sets range from deep to industrial and are always sonically challenging.

Butane and Riko Forinson link up for an enchanting new deep house single on Deeperfect that comes backed with a hot remix from Detroit mainstay Shaun Reeves.

For many years now, Butane has cooked up electric grooves on the finest labels from Get Physical to Crosstown and his own Alphahouse, Little Helpers and Extrasketch. A master of texture and mood, he has been touring the world since 2005 and always keeps people guessing as to his next trick. Meanwhile, Italian Riko Forinson has long been fascinated by acoustics and has studied various instruments at the Conservatory of Salerno. He now makes futuristic electronic music with influences of rock, jazz, hip hop, reggae and classic house. The duo’s ‘One Hundred Percent’ is a deep and tender seven-minute house opus, with swaying claps and drums, hugely emotive vocals and gorgeous piano keys draped over the top. It’s a rich, emotional track that brings something different to the dance floor. The remix comes from Shaun Reeves, a long time innovator who has landed on labels like Wolf & Lamb, Crosstown Rebels, Raum and, of course, the Visionquest label he co-founded. Once again he cooks up some enthralling sounds here and takes things deep and late into the night. Rubbery kicks power you along as warped synths and dark bass weave in and out to hypnotic effect.

Starting at Ushuaïa from midday to midnight, clubbers will be able to party through the daytime and sunset at one of Ibiza’s most breathtaking venues. Come midnight, the party will move across the road to Ibiza’s leading and most technologically advanced venue Hï Ibiza right through until midday on Sunday.

Dimensions Festival completes its ambitious 2020 programme with the news that Underground Resistance Live, Ash Lauryn, Moritz Von Oswald, Batu, DVS1, JASSS, Voigtmann, Reiss, Youandewan, Huerta, Red Greg, Yak, Freakenstein, Charles Webster, LSDXOXO, Josh Cheon as well as new partners VBX, Love Muscle and Stamp The Wax also get involved. For the first time this year, this all goes down at breathtaking natural bay The Garden Resort, Tisno from 13-17th August, 2020. 
This new chapter for Dimensions Festival will showcase the same careful mix of cutting edge artists and much loved pioneers, with the famous attention to detail to production bringing each event alive. The setting is idyllic, with lush pine trees, a long sweeping beach, crystal clear seas and plenty of chances to get involved with parties on land and sea. 
Before the main action, there is a special opening concert at St Michael’s Fortress, high on a hill in that will be headlined by Floating Points with his new live show, presenting the work of his latest album ‘Crush’ amongst other classics. Support comes from fellow Melodies International partner Mafalda with additional  live support still tba. Spaces are limited for the event with tickets available now via a number of retailers online.
After each day’s fun there, the renowned open air club Barbarella’s opens its doors, with the world famous Sinai Sound System powering the beats. We’re told the programme is soon to be revealed! There will also be plenty of brain nourishment with The Sound Studio, which will offer talks, technology and more to get you engaged with and educated on a range of vital topics. 
Amongst the final additions are the iconic group, early techno pioneers and all round legends Underground Resistance who will play live. Then there is an Atlanta based DJ, journalist and member of the DJ Directory Ash Lauryn who has a timeless house sound, sci-fi soundsmith Freakenstein, the intergalactic booty hunter, plus legendary dub techno don Moritz von Oswald, bass and rhythm innovator Batu, American techno DVS1, as well as minimal house favourites Voigtmann, Reiss and Youandewan, The Ghost co-founder Josh Tweek as well as soul, funk, disco and house selector Red Greg.
As well as this international stars, vital party brands like Leeds’ Michael Upson and his pumping gay dance party Love Muscle, plus cult Dutch minimal crew VBX, who regularly  host ADE showcases with the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, plus online magazine Stamp the Wax, a treasure trove of musical discovery and crack team of DJs, all host their own events at Dimension this year.

AVA BELFAST : Full names and brand new site for 2020

Moving site in 2020, AVA continues to push its ethos of presenting attendees with the very best Belfast has to offer. Heading outdoors to the Boucher Road Fields, a site that has played host to the world’s biggest acts over the years, AVA plan to repurpose the site allows festival-goers to get the most out of this new outdoor experience. Incorporating industrial design while retaining its boutique event feel, attendees can lose themselves amongst immersive art installations, intimate stage designs, and a headline ready mainstage. AVA continues to simultaneously lead the way on the international festival market while shining a light on Belfast as a music and art hub with an immensely influential presence on the world stage.

AVA are hyped to reveal home-grown hero Max Cooper will be commanding the stage for an electrifying opening live show, kicking off the 2020 event with a serious bang before two full days of electronic music specifically programmed with AVA’s committed fanbase always in mind. 

Sitting proudly at the top of the bill, seminal producer and DJ Laurent Garnier makes a long-awaited return to Belfast after a seven-year hiatus for a headline show sure to become a 2020 highlight. Joining him at the top of the bill in Belfast and heading up the London event, are the iconic and pioneering act, Orbital. The Belfast fan favorites return to town after headlining the BBC Big Weekend, this time showcasing their critically acclaimed live show for the Irish crowd. Denis Sulta also takes a headline slot, the multi-genre wonderkid has experienced a seismic rise to notoriety and makes a welcome addition to the Belfast line up with a back to back session alongside Mella Dee, this show – a first for Ireland – and is among the event’s most hotly anticipated performances and is not to be missed. Techno queen Helena Hauff also joins the first wave of headliners, with the Berlin-based selector always bringing the perfect blend of stylized beats and big underground vibes to every show. Rounding off the first wave of headline acts, multi-discipline musical genius Fatima Yamaha returns to AVA after a legendary live show at 2017’s event. 
Elsewhere, AVA Belfast 2020’s musical offering continues to push boundaries with a line up reading like a ‘Who’s Who’ of the world’s biggest electronic talent and most exciting breakthrough acts. With genre-blurring artists including local heroes Brame & Hamo, Cromby, OR:LA, Sally C and Timmy Stewart amongst others joining international talent for a show like no other. Underground hero Leon Vynehall also joins the likes of Roza Terenza, Ki/Ki and exemplary breakthrough hype selector Sherelle, all of whom make their NI debut at this year’s event and once again demonstrate AVA’s eclectic yet educated booking policy. Returning favorites Peach, Space Dimension Controller, O’Flynn and Phil Keiran plus many others also join the 2020 line up, allowing fans of all electronic genres to discover the best of what the scene has to offer in a specially curated festival environment. 

From day one, AVA Boiler Room streams have been the stuff of legend and 2020 will be no exception. With a full BR line up still to be announced, fans from across the globe can once again tune in and be in the thick of it. 2020 also sees AVA continue its partnership with Red Bull who returns to Belfast as stage hosts at the Boucher Roads site.

Monegros Desert Festival, a non-stop 22 hour experience in the Spanish desert have announced some of the best acts and DJ’s in the world to perform at their 21st edition, taking place on Saturday 1st August 2020.
 
With it’s most ambitious production yet, the event will unite festival-goers across the most breath-taking dancefloors in the world, using its very own set of unique R.A.V.E principles: Radical, Audio, Visual, Experience. 
 
Drumcode boss Adam Beyer will be bringing his inimitable modern techno sound to the Spanish desert, joined by one of the most exciting DJ’s of the circuit right now – Paula Temple. The incredible line up also features the likes of the in-demand Belgian selector Amelie Lens, the legendary spanish artist  Paco Osuna and the god-like genius of Richie Hawtin.
 
Berlin based stalwarts Tale Of Us will also join the Monegros Desert Festival line up, as well as respected DJ / Producer Solomun, techno heavyweight Rødhåd and multi-dimensional duo Pan-Pot. 

The lineup doesn’t miss out on the authentic and ever-influential DVS1 and Luciano, as well as the newly emergent producer Ansome Live. Along the same musical wave there will be Boston 168 Live, Phase Fatale  and Ancient Methods vs Vatican Shadow.

Also bringing to the desert the most avantgarde electronic reggae sound, Mad Division & Benny Page feat Sye MC & Sweetie Irie. 

After releasing their critically acclaimed album, the techno supergroup Selección Natural formed by Oscar Mulero, Reeko & Exium will deliver a heavy punching b2b2b set. Also representing the Spanish scene will be Hector Oaks who is conquering the European circuit. 
 
Monegros Desert Festival will bring together 45,000 ravers from across the world for the most unique party experience, set against one of natures most jaw-dropping landscapes, making it one of the most unmissable events on the festival calendar this year.
