Terraforma moves to July

Since the very first moment, the manifesto of Terraforma has demonstrated that new dimensions can be terraformed; the creation of that atmosphere is intrinsically linked to a moment of gathering, presence, sharing and peaceful coexistence. In the past few weeks we have carefully evaluated the current situation and imagined all possible scenarios according to the dimension of the festival as a place to be safe and free to express ourselves. In order to ensure everyone’s health and the feasibility to participate, Terraforma has decided to postpone the festival to next year. Terraforma 2021 will take place at Villa Arconati-FAR from the 2nd to 4th July 2021.

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability has always been at the core of Terraforma’s values. The process of regenerating the territory hosting the festival and focusing on more sustainable ways to
interact with the whole planet is an ongoing task and does not stop in this moment of crisis.
Following the restoration of Villa Arconati’s Labyrinth, Terraforma, launches a biennial
project to reforest the land hosting the campsite in collaboration with Fondazione Augusto Rancilio and supported by Borotalco and Fondazione Comunitaria Nord Milano. Around 100 trees, such as lime, ash and oak will be planted in the camping area of Terraforma.
Conceived by the Space Caviar research and design studio, the project is inspired by the
schemes of the architect Cesare Leonardi, author of the volume “The Architecture of Trees” in which he examines the configurations of the trees in relation to their shadow. Taking inspiration from the iconic performance of the artist Joseph Beuys, thanks to which seven thousand oaks were planted in 1982 in Kassel in Germany. The planting intervention, in addition to having a positive impact for the territory, will be part of a larger project to neutralize CO2 emissions from future editions of the festival.

TICKETS

According to the decision of postponing the festival, all purchased tickets will be valid for
Terraforma 2021. In the following weeks information will be shared by email to  icketholders.
As you might imagine, in a moment in which all components of society are affected, the
cultural industry is struggling more than ever, therefore we are grateful for your understanding and patience. New dimensions can be terraformed only through joint forces and intentions. The lymph of Terraforma is our community. And only through our joint forces and intentions the community be kept alive. We are looking forward to seeing you all again at Terraforma 2021, it will be a time of rebirth and reconnection. Until then Terraforma will keep on spreading its message.

So please stay tuned and be safe.

On United We Stream:

The Berlin Club Culture is facing its biggest challenge in history. On Friday, the 13th of March, the whole of Berlin’s night life was officially shut down to prevent the spread of Corona Virus. Therefore, about 9000 employees, as well as tens of thousands of artists are without work and wages and the many places that give Berlin part of its identity are in jeopardy.

As a reaction to closing all Berlin Clubs and the rest of the world being in quarantine, Berlin declares its support and solidarity by getting the biggest digital club to your home. In addition to streaming live DJ sets, live music and live performances, United We Stream will be a platform for discussion sessions, presentations and movies addressing various themes relating to our club culture.

The public’s support is needed so that Berlin’s club scene can survive these difficult times. By contributing just 10, 20 or 30 euros per month, you can become a sponsor and receive a virtual Club Ticket. In addition to this, you can donate to clubs and event organizers directly or buy solidarity merchandise.

All income from the stream will go directly to a relief fund which will support clubs and event organizers in need. For the distribution of these funds, the Clubcommission Berlin e.V. has developed a catalog of criteria and has appointed an independent jury.

United We Stream will offer streams from different clubs several days a week. During these streams, supporters can donate a variable amount to Berlin clubs here:

CARL COX, GIORGIA ANGIULI, SATOSHI TOMIIE AMONG THOSE PERFORMING

After the success of the first edition, Carl Cox’s Awesome Soundwave label (in partnership with Beatport) is announcing a second online festival for May 9th. The line-up includes Carl himself, who will also be joined by the likes of Christopher Coe + Ehsan Gelsi, Bloody Mary,  Digital Afrika, Mat Playford, Giorgia Angiuli, An On Bast, Julien Chaptal and Satoshi Tomiie, who will all play live from their lockdown locations around the world.

SASH LABEL FINALS

Dan Baartz ‘Cafe Society EP’

Artist: Dan Baartz
Title: Cafe Society EP
Remixer: Rich NxT
Label: S.A.S.H
Cat. #: SASH002
Format: Digital
Release Date: 04.05.2020
Tracklist:
1. Cafe Society (Original Mix)
2. Cafe Society (Rich NxT Remix)
3. Lift Attendant (Original Mix)
4. Sort Code (Original Mix)

Sydney’s renowned S.A.S.H returns for its second label release featuring three rhythmic cuts and a remix from FUSE’s Rich NxT.

S.A.S.H is responsible for flying the flag for high-quality house and minimal in Australia (and beyond) for almost a decade now, bringing names like Sonja Moonear, tINI, Dan Ghenacia, Rossko, Traumer and Craig Richards to their popular parties. Launching as a label earlier this year, their debut release came from key resident Jake Hough and featured remixes from esteemed Frenchman Djebali. Fellow family member Dan Baartz now follows up his recent appearance on Bla Bla, providing the S.A.S.H’s second label outing.

Thudding kicks and filtered bongos open up ‘Cafe Society’ before Baartz brings in a subtle yet heady bassline, skipping percussion and viscous synths as stuttering effects play throughout. Rich NxT’s remix of ‘Cafe Society’ then takes things into even wonkier territories with a cacophony of distorted worbles, piano keys, and mindbending stabs. Next up, ‘Lift Attendant’ pulls you straight into its compelling groove built using layers of drums, quivering pads, and funky bass, until ‘Sort Code’ concludes matters with its precision kicks, snapping snares and various weird and infectious details.

Various ‘Brooklyn Sessions 2020 EP’

nervous records launch Brooklyn Sessions 2020 EP series featuring tracks by Ben Delay, Moullinex & Trutopia

Release Date: april 24th 2020

In its 29 year history, Nervous Records has built its reputation on a willingness to take chances on new producers, fresh sounds and innovative concepts. At a time when communication and collaboration between producers, artists and labels has become almost exclusively digital, Nervous decided to bring the creative process back to its roots, when creating a track meant all night writing sessions, 12 hour studio lock-outs and coffee runs that often detoured into all nightclubbing.

In 2018 the label had the idea of flying 3 separate producers from different parts of the world into the creative and musical hub of Brooklyn. That experience was so positive, and the resulting music so good, that a year later Nervous went in for Round 2. In September 2019, the label bought Germany’s Ben Delay, Lisbon’s Moullinex and UK duo Trutopia together into one NYC studio to record a body of work set to be released on  April 24th, as part of the label’s new ‘Brooklyn Sessions’ EP series.

Drawing inspiration from the dying strands of a New York summer, the dark, throbbing spirit of the world’s most iconic city is evident across all four cuts appearing on EP1 of the series.

Opening up with the Trutopia and Moullinex collaboration ‘Galesa’, the production struts in and out of the central percussion, the single flexing and contracting relentlessly, carrying that iconic sense of drive and energy that is absolutely intrinsic to New York’s streets. On Trutopia’s solo track ’You Can Not Hold Back’, the composition bristles with energy, the British pair channeling vocalist’s Koffee’s topline across sleazy saxophone and funk-fuelled bass; on ‘Ergo’, Moullinex keeps things tight and taut, using carefully crafted snares, hi-hats, sweeping synths and a relentless, at times ominous percussion to create a dark, driving cityscape. On Ben Delay’s undulating, breathless ‘Brooklyn (Back In Time)’, which closes out the EP, wind instruments shimmers like steam rising from the city’s sidewalks as the beat grooves underneath like a rumbling subway train.

Since its 1991 inception Nervous Records has been at the very epicentre of New York’s house scene. Masters At Work, Armand Van Helden, David Morales, Tony Humphries, Josh Wink, Mood II Swing, Kerri Chandler, Todd Terry, Roger Sanchez and more have all passed through their doors, synonymous with the label, their work creating a rich tapestry that is still as much an influence today as it is a legacy in its own right.

Bringing new blood into the city and encouraging fresh collaborations between artists able to tap into the creative lifeblood of this vast, living, breathing megatropolis, Nervous Records’ dominance looks set to carry on well into its third decade.

Kiko Navarro shows through this album his experience and the contaminations that influenced his vision of eletronic music, the 12 tracks of ‘Afroterraneo’ put together house, tribal and deep house coherently and organically. These songs have been produced with the integration of vocals, an essential element which helps to bring warmth, also some ethnical instruments cheer the listening session, introducing unexpeted and imaginary scenarios. That’s positive and good to preserve musical styles like this, they can show the identity of many musicians, and offer an occasion to reunite different cultures and people under the power of music.
