French techno act Trudge debuts on ARTS with the four track EP titled ‘My Lurking Fears’. The songs featured show a style harder and more aggressive than the usual adopted by the artist, the bpm are high and those great 80s pads, typically used by him, appear only on ‘Lipsync’. ‘Vaulted’ represents a good way to mix acid and electro into contemporary sounds; but the true revelation is ‘Too Strong’: as suggested by the title this track goes very hard, introducing another stylistic facet of Trudge where industrial hardcore elements prevail, we can recognize a booming reverbered kickdrum that communicates with monotoid synths and luscious pads, creating a really attractive and overhelming vibe.
Scuba’s ‘Never Forget’ was published at the end of January 2020, it was another good sound experimentation made by the British artist, who during his long time music career has been capable to surprire the audience with different and desirable tracks. This month sees the reborn of the main theme with three particular interpretations. Baltra adds an electronic swing to the original, where sexy hihat patterns and an arpeggio synth reinforce undoubtedly the song structure. Effy increases the dancefloor potential, she used a short vocal sample and a solid kickdrum that make the big part of the game, besides a re-arrangement of the main chord is simply but really effective. Last but not least, if you get the release from Scuba’s bandcamp you can get an additional remix made by Peter Ibbetson, who discovers another distinctive and dreamy side of the main theme.
