Title: The Swish Cheese EP
Label: FUSE
Cat. #: FUSE043
Release Date: 5th June 2020
Format: Vinyl / Digital
Tracklist
Rich NxT returns to FUSE to open June with his latest EP, ‘The Swish Cheese’.
A quintessential member of the FUSE family since its formation, longstanding resident label favourite Rich NxT may well currently be in one of his finest periods of musical output to date. With recent releases and remixes via the likes of Moxy Muzik, S .A.S.H. and his own NxT Records, and fresh from his stand out remix of Planetary Notions head honcho Joe Rolét on Infuse, the London-based DJ, producer and label boss now returns to his home imprint of FUSE in emphatic fashion to deliver three fresh original productions in the form of his ‘The Swish Cheese’ EP.
A-side and title cut ‘Swish Cheese’ is a low-slung effort that layers rumbling sub-bass and squelchy stabs beneath icy snares to reveal a twisting and hypnotic opener, whilst on the flip ‘Your Time’ welcomes rich organic percussion arrangements, soft chords amongst tripped-out vocal snippets and further warping basslines. To close, the slick ‘Heaven Base’ shapes up the package with authority as swinging drum grooves meet soaring vocals and arpeggiated synths lines, offering up yet more trademark no-nonsense Rich NxT sonics via the ever-impressing London imprint.

The Berlin (DE) based Philipp Priebe is set to release two split EP on his label Stolar: each part of ‘Figures’ will present two songs that floats into a dreamy deep house.
Both ‘To The Dawn’ and ‘Silhouette’ feature oldschool drum sample and ethereal synths, this good instrumental combination is functional to the sound proposed; there and there we can find also little hints to 80s abstract melodies, a sign of further sonorous research and devotion to music production.

Artist: Matt Sugar R feat. Thomas Barnett
Title: Seein’ U
Label: Visillusion
Release Date: 3rd July 2020
Cat. #: VSD008
Tracklist:
Thomas Barnett’s Visillusion drops ’Seein’ U’, the debut EP from French producer, DJ and radio host, Matt Sugar R, this July.
Featuring Barnett on co-production duties, Sugar R’s first foray into production, ’Seein’ U’, is a bright, jacking house cut that takes a classic house chord loop and filtered bassline combo and works it to the bone with some tight and extended looping techniques. Barnett’s remix runs with the original’s vibe almost entirely but layers a subtle jazz musicality into the mix for added depth while France’s Taho ups the tempo with a funk-laced techno interpretation that keeps just enough of the original’s vibe to satisfy house crews as well as Detroit devotees.
Punchy and infectious, Matt Sugar R ft Thomas Barnett’s ’Seein’ U’ is a love letter to the best of late 90’s house and is released on Visillusion on July 3rd.

Title track, ‘Wet Your Whistle’ begins proceedings with luscious atmospheres, soaring sub-bass rolls and shimmering rhythms keeping you enticed throughout before ‘Miss Your Point’ offers up skippy, breaks-tinged percussion, nostalgic and uplifting bass notes underneath the inviting acid squelches.
On the flipside, arpeggiated synth flutters and glistening modulations balanced with swinging drums and a succulent sax line take the focus in ‘Friend Request (Sax Mix)’ whist German artist Mbius who has releases on Ethernal (an offshoot of Daydream) and Long Vehicle rounds things off with stabbing oscillations, angelic leads and rich melodies and grooves in his remix of ‘Friend Request’.

Title: Nemesis
Remixer: YAB
Label: WHIPBASS
Cat. #: WB007
Format: Digital
Release Date: 26th June 2020 (Beatport) / (10th July 2020 (All Stores)
Tracklist
1. Nemesis
2. Nemesis (YAB Remix)
3. Facom
Talented young artist Rog de Prisco makes another big splash with his latest offering on Berlin label WHIPBASS, while I Am Bam appears under new YAB alias on remix duties.
Italian Rog de Prisco has been making techno since his mid-teens and adding to his unique sound is his passion for rock music that can be heard on his productions. He has landed on key outlets like Ballroom, Renesanz and Autektone and now his latest release on Berlin label WHIPBASS brims with energy once more. His productions have attracted the attention of artists who have influenced much of his music including Claptone, Paco Osuna, Drumcomplex Joseph Capriati Richie Hawtin and many others.
Opener ‘Nemesis’ is a tidal wave of techno revenge. The wall of drums strike a powerful groove and incendiary hi hats build the pressure as underlapping sub bass adds real weight. The remix comes from Italian producer YAB, a new alias from someone who has already got plenty of fine tunes under his belt. In his hands the track is even quicker, harder and more heads down. It’s a pure late night banger that will blow minds whenever it gets dropped. Last of all, ‘Facom’ gets more eerie, with unsettling synth pulses, freaky vocals and a twisted lead pad all bringing paranoid and dystopian future techno vibes.

Artist: Chicken Lips
Title : Goldenlips
Remixer: DJ Sotofett
Label: Phantasy Sound
Cat. #: PH98
Format: Vinyl & Digital
Release Date: 29th May 2020
Tracklist:
A. Goldenlips
B. Goldenlips (DJ Sotofett’s ‘Golden Funk’ Mix)
A key fixture in the record bags of DJs throughout the past few decades, best known for their unforgettably odd house anthem ‘He Not In’, it’s been some years since Andy Meecham and Dean Meredith last collaborated as Chicken Lips. As such, it’s with no little delight that Phantasy welcomes them back into the fold with one of their most mind-bending tracks yet, accompanied by a remix from a fellow stalwart of the underground, DJ Sotofett.
Instant and assured, ‘Goldenlips’ unrolls like licorice over ten blissful minutes, mining an undercurrent of post-acid house euphoria into a dreamy analogue jam-turned-trip, a soft and rhythmic vision of dancefloor euphoria that demonstrates a mastermind session of tension and release from two individuals with decades of experience in tipping dancefloors upside-down.
On the flip, DJ Sotofett continues to deliver the unexpected with a more truncated but no less compelling ‘Golden Funk’ mix. Suddenly rolling back the musical clock to the sun-drenched West Coast of the mid-nineties, the result is an oozing, bottom-heavy rework so delicious, it might even have united Puffy and Snoop.
Artist: Wheats
Title: In Your Head
Label: Hottrax
Cat. #: HXT054
Format: Digital
Release Date: 29th May 2020
Tracklist:
1. You Know
2. What You Do
Wheats joins Jamie Jones’s Hottrax with two murky cuts entitled ‘In Your Head’ this May.
Bursting onto the scene as a wide-eyed 18-year-old, Wheats received early support from Kerri Chandler who played two of his tracks in his set moments after hearing the demo. Soon after Wheats was signed to Chandler’s MadTech and since then he’s gone on to release on labels like Kaluki, Saved, Circus and VIVa, with support from Calvin Harris, Nic Fanciulli, Hot Since 82, and Jamie Jones. He now joins the latter’s Hottrax imprint with a pair of wonky productions that see him in fine form.
With its rumbling bassline, piercing snares and squelchy acid licks, ‘You Know’ is a dark and menacing cut from the word go. Meanwhile, ‘What You Do’ is all about a rhythmic groove built from layers of intricate percussion whilst delayed stabs, snare rolls and distorted vocal samples generate a trippy aesthetic throughout.
