In the wake of recent events and the ensuing movement for equality; the economic repercussions of the pandemic —  now more than ever the music industry must stand together.
The first edition of Move the Record is set to take place across Friday 3rd July and Saturday 4th July, and will comprise 2 x 12-hour streaming broadcasts from stores around the world featuring residents and special guests, with each 2-hour slot flowing into the next.

“I bought my first record at Undrergrounder in Gera, back in 1995.” says Dana Ruh, “I still have it. A record is a physical medium, a piece of art — from the music, to the pressing, to the cover design.
We all — artists, clubs, labels, distribution, pressing plants — are facing uncertain times as a direct result of the Covid crisis. Our industry is all connected, and many people have already lost their jobs. Clubs are closed; performing artists have lost their primary source of income; record stores — our cultural hubs of community and discovery — are struggling to stay afloat. So on July 3 and 4, myself and 11 other stores around the world will come together to support one another. It’s all connected. We are all connected.”

JUN007 PACKSHOT Jun Kamoda - Escape The Night - Jun Records

Jun Kamoda ‘Escape The Night’

Artist: Jun Kamoda
Title : Escape The Night
Label: Jun Records
Cat. #: JUN007
Format: Vinyl & Digital
Release: 3rd July 2020
Tracklist
:
1. Escape The Night
2. Funky Protection

Black Acre artist Jun Kamoda delivers ‘Escape The Night’, a two-track sample-based house single released in July via his own Jun Records.

Kamoda’s carefree attitude to genre conventions and sampling has made for unique listening in recent years, something heavily informed by his past as leftfield hip hop act MC Illreme. Here, ‘Escape The Night’ is gloriously upbeat tonic with a heavily swung groove, staccato synth funk-bass and breezy chords providing the backdrop to a vocal taken from City Pop singer Hitomitoi ’The Night’.

On the flip, Kamoda twists Japanese funk band Zainichi Funk’s infectious ‘Bakudan Kowai’ into a breaky house cut that oozes an intense, throw-down dancefloor weapon. As with the title track, Kamoda is having fun in the studio and it shines through the music.

2. Lemonade

Blackchild (ITA) debuts on Dennis Cruz’s Lemon-Aid imprint with ‘Chocolates Shop’.

An emerging member of the Solid Grooves family, with releases via the likes of Question Reality, SURA Music and Solid Grooves Raw, rising Italian DJ and producer Blackchild (ITA) has emerged onto the European scene in style over the past twelve months with support from Marco Carola, The Martinez Brothers and Skream to name just a few. Following on from an impressive start to 2020, he now makes his debut appearance on Dennis Cruz’s Lemon- Aid imprint as he delivers his two-track EP, ‘Chocolates Shop’.

Employing playful bass grooves alongside icy hats and hip-hop vocal samples, title track ‘Chocolates Shop’ welcomes a lively and warping journey through bright resonant melodies and rolling drum arrangements, whilst the darker ‘Lemonade’ fuses menacing low-end frequencies with metallic percussion shots and further vocal work to shape up the EP in impressive fashion.

REJ090 COVER Josh Butler - Back - Rejected

Josh Butler ‘Back’

Artist: Josh Butler
Title: Back
Label: Rejected
Cat. #: REJ090
Format: Digital
Release Date: 26th June 2020
Tracklist
1. Back
2. Baobab

Rejected favourite Josh Butler returns to the label this June to offer up his two-track ‘Back’ EP.

A leading DJ, producer, A&R and label boss, Josh Butler is an artist forever in evolution. Having released his eight- track ‘Timezones’ series on home turf to close 2019, showcasing his dynamic range as a producer in the process, the ORIGINS RCRDS label head has picked things up in 2020 in equally as impressive fashion with collaborations, remixes and original productions finding favour with names right across the electronic sphere – from Sasha and Digweed through to The Black Madonna, DJ Sneak, Laurent Garnier and Anja Schneider. Next up, late-June sees a welcome return to Rejected as he delivers his fourth EP on the label, entitled ‘Back’.

“This EP was one of the last I finished at my studio before moving my equipment home for the lockdown. The A-side is a peak-time tool with African inspired rhythm and percussion, whilst I’d heard the word Baobab on a documentary for the B-side. It’s a unique looking tree commonly found in Africa and, I’d always loved the look of them so I had to use it for a track title. The track to me sounds quite natural and almost wooden so it felt fitting”. – Josh Butler

Title cut ‘Back’ opens the package and quickly enters into a snaking, hypnotic journey through delayed vocal interjections, resonant dubby stabs and sweeping synths, whilst the paired back ‘Baobab’ harnesses refined organic percussion hits beneath blossoming lead melodies, punchy low-end hits and further tripped-out vocal work to shape up yet another notable outing on Rejected from one of the UK’s leading house music talents.

Cat. #: FINE064EP
Release Date: 19th June 2020

  1. Gorgeous (Dombrance remix)
  2. Gorgeous (Mighty Mouse remix)
  3. Gorgeous (Chloé remix)
  4. Gorgeous (Jack Burton remix)
  5. Gorgeous (Extended Disco mix)

Hot off the back of his critically acclaimed ‘Nosso Ritmo’ album, French electronic powerhouse Yuksek returns with the first in a series of remix EPs, this time featuring Dombrance, Mighty Mouse, Chloé and Jack Burton.

Producer, DJ and Partyfine label boss Yuksek has been a vital force in the electronic music scene for the last two decades, releasing a string of albums and EPs on boutique independents, major labels and his own, much lauded imprint. A classically trained musician, his sound has veered from left-of-centre pop, to quirky electro-disco, always bringing a unique musicality and sense of fun with it. His latest long-form offering, ‘Nosso Ritmo’ is no exception, with a disco inspired sound and a host of outstanding collaborations at its heart.

Now, Yuksek’s fourth studio album gets the remix treatment, kicking off with with five variants of the excellent ‘Gorgeous’. First up is fellow Frenchman Dombrance who turns in an arpeggiated, eighties influenced disco roller. Next up Glitterbox associate Mighty Mouse drops a funk laden re- imagining, replete with classic disco FX, a wandering bassline and shuffling dancefloor drums as the backing for the original vocals.

Long standing French electronic talent, Chloé steps up next with a deeper version that mines darker house territory to perfection, whilst Jack Burton brings a chugging disco affair to the party. The package is completed with an Extended Disco mix of the original.

This is the first part of what is set to be an unmissable remix project with a stellar cast which will also include Inigo Vontier, Bosto Bun, Kraak & Smaak, Rubin Steiner, Youman, Daniel Wang, Getaroom, Bosq, The Mikanism, Mark Lower and Jkriv.

432R015 ARTWORK

Richy Ahmed ‘Bad Boy / Italo 80’

Artist: Richy Ahmed
Title: Bad Boy / Italo 80
Label: Four Thirty Two
Cat. #: 432R015
Release Date: 10th July 2020
Tracklist:
1. Bad Boy
2. Italo 80
3. Bad Boy (Enzo Siragusa remix)

Richy Ahmed returns to his Four Thirty Two imprint in rude health, and with his first new productions since the autumnal months of 2019. Fast asserting his credentials as one of the scene’s greatest exponents of uncomplicated and palpable house music, Richy delivers two new cuts, and enlists Enzo Siragusa to turn his hand to a remix.

A rough and ready production gives ‘Bad Boy’ its instant appeal, as Richy takes a heavy bass driven rhythm and sprinkles chopped up vox and trance inducing tones over the disco inspired groove. FUSE London resident, Enzo Siragusa, is enlisted on the remix duties for ‘Bad Boy’, scattering shiny string motifs and contorted vocals over a headsy and drum heavy mix.

Perhaps the greatest of decades in music is invoked on ‘Italo 80’, as Richy simmers an Italo inspired cut, dazzling with thick arpeggiated synths and drum sounds almost as big as the shoulder pads and hair of the era! A blistering acid line bubbles away as Richy explores a robotic rhythm and dizzying synth motifs.

COVER-W Ci

Maxi Meraki ‘Love Story EP’

Artist: Maxi Meraki
Title: Love Story
Label: True Romance
Cat: TREP026D
Format: Digital
Release Date: June 5th 2020
Tracklist:
1) Constellations (Original Mix)
2) Lie Machine (Original Mix)
3) Baby (Original Mix)

Buy link: https://www.beatport.com/release/love-story/2966301

Belgium has long been a hotbed of house talent and one of the many names keeping the country on the map is Maxi Meraki who now returns with three fresh new cuts. First up, ‘Constellations’ is a busy disco track that rolls on with chattery percussion and raw loops. It really builds the pressure and keeps clubs locked. ‘Lie Machine’ is a more soulful and playful house cut with a fantastic male falsetto sticking out of the classic deep house groove. Last of all is ‘Baby’, a disco tinged dazzled with shooting chords and the sort of energy that carries you late into the night. Once again then this is a fantastic new EP that marks the beginning of a super career for one of Belgium’s most sought-after emerging names.

Carl Cox, Eats Everything and Nightmares On Wax headline the next Set For Love

The electronic music industry is uniting once more on the 19th, 20th and 21st June with Carl Cox, Eats Everything and Nightmares on Wax amongst the headliners joining the party and inspiring DJ’s around the world to join them and play a Set For Love.

Building on its hugely successful Set For Love in May, the Last Night A DJ Saved My Life charity are looking to continue fundraising in aid of its COVID-19 appeal with another record breaking event.

Raising more than £60,000 across a mammoth 72-hour simultaneous DJ live stream, more than 1,000 DJs took part last time from over 50 different countries. The event saw the likes of Louie Vega, Paul Oakenfold, Jackmaster, Nightmares On Wax, Doorly, Pioneer DJ, Mixcloud and many more industry heavyweights get involved. They were joined by thousands of other DJs of all levels and from all corners of the globe streaming and fundraising. Now LNADJ is taking Set For Love one step further to continue to help communities that are suffering drastically from the consequences of lockdown and with industry heavyweights like Carl Cox calling out to DJs around the world.

The headline sets will be hosted daily on the Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Facebook Page (facebook.com/lnadj.charity/) from 7pm CEST through to 1am on Friday 19th, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June. They can also be viewed on DanceTelevision social channels and the artists own channels. The weekend includes a Wax Da Jam showcase on the Saturday. LNADJ is encouraging community DJs, A-list celebrities, labels, promoters, producers and every one in between to get involved and help raise money to continue to help provide food parcels, fresh water and sanitation supplies to those suffering from the consequences of lockdown and COVID-19 in developing countries.

Jonny Lee, Founder of LNADJ said, “To see some of the most high profile DJs in the world come together with thousands of community DJs is a real inspiration. Although lockdown restrictions may be being lifted in places, the economic crisis for many is getting worse, not better. We’re supporting vulnerable people in developing countries who have no savings, no benefits systems, no furlough! These communities need our help now more than ever so I urge anyone that wants to make a difference and help change people’s lives to join us on June the 19th, 20th and 21st June by sharing a set, spreading the message or donating.”

Carl Cox said “I am really looking forward to playing alongside my peers and to creating a very special musical journey for Set For Love, it feels good to do this for the cause of helping others, with our passion to share. See you all out there. Oh yes!”

Eats Everything said “Playing on line-ups with Carl is special every time, I never expected to be doing it ever, let alone from halfway around the world but it is lovely to be involved in such an inclusive concept such as Set For Love.”
Those looking to take part and make a difference, can simply register at www.setforlove.org, choose the hour(s) they want to broadcast their set, choose the platform they want to broadcast it from and share the LNADJ fundraising link setforlovedoante.org. The sets will then be streamed simultaneously all weekend long, with DJs sharing the link for their fans, friends and family to donate and spread the hashtag #setforlove.

Platform 18 announce online festival on Saturday 4th July

https://www.facebook.com/Platform18Glasgow/

On Saturday July 4th, Glasgow’s Platform 18 invite you to join an online stream headlined by Jackmaster, Frazi.er, Maria Airam b2b Lunarplatz and founder Ivan Kutz. The stream will be raising funds for the charity Scottish Association for Mental Health, who Platform 18 have worked with from the start, and is a great way to come together and forget whatever woes you may have during these strange times.

The stream runs from 4pm until 9pm and plays out on the same day that this year’s festival was meant happen with world class headliners Richie Hawtin, Floorplan, Fjaak (live), ANNA and more all playing one visually spectacular main stage in a unique urban setting.

Platform 18 offers something new and fresh for Glaswegian house and techno lovers and has done since 2013. It comes from the mind of a promoter who has been putting on events for over 12 years and gives you an intimate connection with DJs: everything is set up so the raver and DJ are in sync, the selectors can join punters in the crowd for hugs and even high fives during set and they have done many times in the past, which always makes this a very special and standout occasion.

While this stream won’t replace the main event, it is a great way to connect with likeminded raves, from the safety of your own home, and hear some cutting edge electronic music by some masters of the form.

Donations can be made to SAMH at any time via the JustGiving page:
