Oliver Schories is returning to 8Bit Records after a year –  with the Monza EP.

Hamburg-based Oliver has been a welcome addition to the Germany house community for more than a decade now. After his latest album, Paradigm, and a collaboration with Jan Blomqvist in the summer of 2020, new original music will be out in January 2021 on Gorge’s and Nick Curly’s 8 Bit imprint.

Opening with the title track, ‘Monza’, a stab-led groove evolves organically adding nuanced layers and a rubbery bass. Warm and inviting, the piano in the first break creates a welcomed tension against the muted vocal ad libs. On the flipside, ‘Levo’ begins with more low end grunt. Melodics develop with time and form the main groove hypnotising the listener before chord sweeps and whispered vocals add warmth and musical depth.

MÜSE co-founder Eddy M returns to the label this February as he drops his latest EP, ‘Spread It Out’.

Barcelona-based DJ and producer Eddy M has quickly become a growing name of note within the electronic music scene in recent years, leading to a series of powerful stand-out releases via the likes of Dirtybird, Repopulate Mars and Solid Grooves – where he features as one of the collective’s core residents. Having rounded out 2020 in style on the label with the release of his and Dennis Cruz’s Beatport #1 chart-topping collaboration ‘Goldigger’, he now returns to MÜSE to deliver his latest two-track EP, ‘Spread It Out’.

Title cut ‘Spread It Out’ gets things rolling by combining chunky percussion with funk-infused basslines, driving rhythms and soulful vocals to reveal a groove-heavy affair, whilst ‘No Time To Talk’ harnesses a blend of luscious chords, uplifting melodies and rumbling low-ends to shape up another impressive release from the Sicilian native.

KUSP joins Rekids Special Projects with the rumbling ‘Freedom Of Fear EP’ this January.

Across ‘Freedom of Fear’, KUSP display their knack for crafting high intensity, uncompromising techno, perfectly fitting the criteria for the heavier Rekids sister label. From the evil-sounding ‘Circulus’ through to the grinding textures of ‘Xerox’, the duo never strays from the tried and test 4/4 across the five tracks, amassing a crushing array of dancefloor weaponry on a vital label breathing fresh ideas into the world of techno.

Initially released in May 2020, ‘A Hero’s Death’ was the first single from Fontaines D.C.’s second LP of the same name and, like the LP, is a critical and commercial hit.

The Soulwax remix follows ‘Empty Dancefloor’, a track originally created as a piece of music to score the AirPods Max product video and the ’15 Year Anniversary Edition’ of their legendary ‘Nite Versions’ LP, in November.

Fontaines D.C. ‘A Hero’s Death’ (Soulwax Remix) is released on Partisan, January 19th, in collaboration with Soulwax, who are pressing up a limited run of 1000 hand-stamped vinyl, hitting shops shortly after the digital release.

Swiss producer Boran Ece inaugurates his new Son d’Étroit label with an inviting deep house cut including a remix from Bedrock artist Hannes Bieger.

Boran Ece was born in the same decade as house music. However, Boran’s story is not a commercially driven one about a young artist who experimented with musical instruments from an early age. It is also not about a young raver who spent his summer holidays on Ibiza, and later made it onto the most famous stages of the world. The essence of his life story is not just linked to events – it is an emerging legacy of the history of art. Boran finds inspiration throughout the depths of the electronic music world and is able to share his art in the furthest corners of the globe like Amsterdam, Berlin and Istanbul, and on labels like Lemon Juice Records. ‘Relance’ now sees him launch his Son d’Étroit imprint as a platform for his original material which includes a remix from Berlin-based engineer Hannes Bieger who has releases on Tronic, Poker Flat, Bedrock and Fryhide.

Homemade sound waves: this is what the first release of the new label Son d’Étroit sounds like. The label founder, Boran Ece made the inaugural release a matter close to his heart and shows his performance side with this track. ‘Relance’ is a skillfully created chaos has arisen that presents and unites precisely chosen elements. Soulful, pure, minimal with an organic deep house touch that’s food for the dancers. Hannes Bieger’s version is an alluring cut with dubbed-out textures, pulsating bass rolls and inviting melodies that harmonise delightfully with the softening vocals throughout.

The quite underground and unknown artist Hanisii debuts with the album ‘Time In The Special Practice Of Relativity’, that’s a collection of 11 songs which plunge a sophisticated and organic kind of sound, showing off an interesting alternative of techno and its derivates.
The attitude of the whole album is totally dancefloor oriented, even if the various sonorities can seem too experimental or inappropriate, they fits coherently in the modern music styles, bringing some uniqueness and freshness.
