Michel Baumann a.k.a. Soulphiction makes the second EP on 18437: ‘What What EP’ expose for each song their different face, each with a distinct sould and audio motif.
The EP opener titled ‘Ballin’ is the most underground production of the release, that’s massively oriented to the dancefloor and its vibe is quite dark. On the flip the style gets brightened with ‘What What ??!’ and ‘Midi Funk’, two compositions that range into oldschool house mixtures, with U.S.A. and afro/tribal contaminations.

Reset Robot ‘I Wish You’d Never’

Cat. #: TRUE12138
Label: Truesoul
Format: Digital
Release date: 9 April, 2021
Tracklist:
1. Reset Robot – I Wish You’d Never
2. Reset Robot – Time Loop
3. Reset Robot – Fluid
4. Reset Robot – I Wish You’d Never (Dub)
5. Reset Robot – I Wish You’d Never (Radio Spotify edit)

Reset Robot returns with another exquisite Truesoul offering, led by the timeless vocal composition ‘I Wish You’d Never’.
Digging deeper into his sonic repertoire during lockdown, the producer (aka Dave Roberston) crafts a thoughtful EP brimming with shimmering ambient tones and textures.

‘I Wish You’d Never’ reinforces his superior production skills, led by the mammoth title track. A strong lead vocal rubs shoulders with lustrous synth swirls, lilting pads and crisp percussion, before a brooding bassline comes into focus and hits with a deliciously menacing punch. ‘Time Loop’ is a piercing acid trance cut that begs to be rinsed. ‘Fluid’ originally begun as ambient electronica work, but evolved into a tougher composition through the course of the studio session: “Out of curiosity I added some drums and a more aggressive bass synth and it came together,” Robertson says of the grandiose, pad-laden work. A classy dub of ‘I Wish You’d Never’ rounds out the package.

HR05Y Cover

Various ‘5Y Heideton, Pt 1-3’

Artist: Various
Title: 5Y Heideton, Pt 1-3
Label: Heideton Records
Cat. #: HR05Y
Release Date: 09.4 / 23.04 / 07.05

German’s Heideton Records mark their fifth anniversary with a three-part release from label stars Joe Metzenmacher and Borka & the Gang plus friends including Cadenza boss Luciano, Emanuel Satie, Claudio Ricci & Florian Hollerith.

“It’s hard to imagine what a small corner of Northern Germany looked like just five short years ago. It was practically a desert, a wilderness, barren except for a few antelopes and bison grazing hopefully in the grasslands outside Bad Fallingbostel. Imagine a scene in Planet Of The Apes, but set in Germany, and you get the picture. Charlton Heston would have been appalled. Frankly, we all were. Something needed to be done if Bad Fallingbostel was ever going to realistically compete with its perceived rivals: Bali, Ibiza, Zadar, Odessa.

Thankfully, that’s where our heroes, Heideton Records, come in. OK, so technically, they did not build great buildings (or design them). They did not construct a whole city complex or create a world- beating health service or erect hotels. Nope. They did none of that. But they did something more important; they brought modern culture to an area screaming out for it. In a region where the populations’ legs were withering away from a lack of use, they got the joy of dancing back to those crying out for a dose of the best electronic music Germany has to offer. It’s no small thing, either. It’s really not.

As we navigate one of the most perilous periods in dance music history thanks a pandemic that has laid low nightclubs, festivals, dancing, fun and music played unnaturally loud, one thing we have come to realise is just how important music is to our mental health. It’s not just a nice add-on to one’s life, it’s at the centre of our well-being. Dancing is innate in humans, who have been finding ways to celebrate their joy, youth, sexuality for thousands of years. Even in a small corner of Germany, in the vicinity of Bad Fallingbostel.

So here we are five years down the road and we are celebrating Heideton’s anniversary on this planet. In that time Donald Trump has risen (and fallen), France have won a World Cup, the last white male rhinoceros died, the UK left the EU and little Heideton Records released a whole slew of certified club bangers.

To celebrate their five years on the planet, we have a trio of releases lined up. That’s three, as in a troika, trifecta, threesome, triumvirate, trilogy or even a hat-trick (or should that actually be a hat- track? Geddit?). Three releases, each containing three tracks. Three times three is nine. It’s a veritable prime number fiesta. Let us give you a quick rundown.

Release one, which is out on April 9th, includes resident maestros Joe Metzenmacher and Borka (and, of course, his Gang) with a solo effort from Joe (the sub-bass boom of ‘Montano’), a joint effort between the two, remixed by Switzerland’s ace Luciano and Heideton newcomer, Claudio Ricci, the Austro-Chilean producer now based in Ibiza, whose track is an homage to ‘Catalonia’.

Part two, which comes out on April 23rd, features Borka and Joe collaboration, the Italo-house channelling ‘Closer is not enough’, a Metzenmacher solo joint, the deep- as-you-like ‘Petersika’ while Borka & The Gang complete the trio with the anthem ‘Salt Water’.

Finally, the series is rounded off on May 7th with a holy trinity that includes Emmanuel Satie’s flighty ‘Home’, the sound of the cosmic fairground, Borka & The Gang’s yearning ‘Paradise Bird’, while newbie Florian Hollerith, taking time out from winemaking to deliver a powerful, almost DJ Pierre-style, floorfiller full of suitably dance-friendly menace.

If these nine tracks don’t make you want to bust out of your joggers or pyjamas and bust a move on a dancefloor somewhere soon, then you’re dead from the neck down. And possibly even from above. “

Inflyte promo platform announce Spotify & Apple Music integrations

The market leading pre-release promo service Inflyte, today has just announced major new integrations for their promo platform, with the addition of Inflyte Tastemaker Pre-saves, combining promo and pre-save into an elegant all-in-one solution for labels.

The addition of pre-saves for Spotify and Apple Music adds to an expanding roster of integrations, which also includes Pioneer’s Rekordbox, Dropbox, Twitter, Amazon Alexa and more.

These exciting integrations are designed to provide additional layers of functionality that will offer a whole new dimension to Inflyte promo campaigns for the thousands of labels, PR’s and tastemakers who use Inflyte which has grown to become one of the most popular promo platforms worldwide in recent years.

For labels and PRs, Inflyte has added Tastemaker Pre-save functionality, which enables them to embed unique pre-save codes for their releases into any standard Inflyte promo campaign. This has the potential to help them maximise support on streaming services via their existing Inflyte tastemaker database and solves the issue of having to run pre-save campaigns separately on a third-party service.

Tastemakers now have the option of linking their streaming service of choice (Apple Music or Spotify) to their Inflyte account. This will create a special Inflyte playlist in their streaming library, which will magically add any pre-saved campaigns they have rated on Inflyte to their libraries on the day of release – it’s kind of like a personal Promo Inbox. Tastemakers can then use this playlist to keep track of all the releases they positively rated on Inflyte as soon as they become available – which for third party playlisters, radio programmers and DJs in particular will be a huge benefit.

CEO and co-founder Paul Hamill comments, ”Inflyte has proven itself to be the most effective platform in the market for capturing tastemaker support at the pre-release promo stage. These integrations with Spotify and Apple Music have been designed to help our labels leverage ongoing promotional support beyond that initial pre-release phase. This will bridge the disconnect between what tastemakers are doing on Inflyte at pre-release stage and what happens when those releases go live on streaming.”

“Inflyte has now made the process of getting our client’s music on the radar of tastemakers and playlisters using these platforms as easy as possible with a really elegant solution that adds genuine value to our platform for our labels, PRs and tastemakers.”

Unlike conventional consumer focused pre-save services, Inflyte Tastemaker Pre-saves provide audio previews, downloads and of course collect feedback and lots of rich campaign data for labels using the service. Inflyte is the first platform to offer this unique all-in-one solution that combines pre-save functionality and promo in this way.

Ava Festival 2021

AVA leads the way forward for the return of the Electronic live event sector in Northern Ireland, with a programme shining a light on the best in local talent and International heavy weights; after a challenging year for all of us we are excited to bring people together in celebration again.

Artists include Berlin Techno duo Fjaak, one of the world’s leading electronic live acts KiNK (Live), who’ll return after an amazing Samba band collaboration at 2018’s AVA. Also joining with raw, angular techno energy is Helena Hauff, disco queen Jayda G, plus Dutch female forces Carista & KIKI. Revered duo Optimo return, a regular on the AVA roster, these guys capture the spirit of Northern Ireland with their punky, electronic selections. Derry Native and long-term AVA family Or:la, Hammer and Cromby all return, plus Techno king Sunil Sharpe. Another set of female powerhouses who’ll take to the decks are AVA are super-selectors Saoirse and Sally C, plus many more.

A curveball for the usual AVA lineup, the team are pleased to introduce new sounds to the bill, including the finest of Irish hip-hop with revered Dublin rapper Kojaque, Aby Coulibaly, Leo Miyagee and Emby all joining. On top of that, legendary multi-instrumentalist and broken beat innovator Kaidi Tatham and Irish vocalist Gemma Dunleavy.

In keeping with the ethos of AVA, the event promises an uncompromising approach to design, creativity and nourishment of homegrown music. September’s festival will give you a taste of things to come as we set about the evolution of AVA Belfast. The multi-stage open air site will have a distinctive set up merging industrial design with music, and visual electronic artists including Algorithm, Visual Spectrum and Kevin Gartland.

Beyond the dancefloor, AVA will once again deliver a full programme of art installations and music/art/culture, chill spaces, local food traders, a new cocktail bar experience plus much more.

Festival Director & Founder, Sarah McBriar said: “We are thrilled to announce our return to Belfast at the end of September after one of the most challenging years the industry and society has ever faced. Not only will this be one of the first festivals returning after a pandemic, but this will also be the beginning of our new fully outdoor chapter. The blank canvas at Boucher Road Playing Fields offers us exciting and endless opportunities. We have been working on the new site design for some time, combining our signature industrial design with the natural landscape, showcasing the artists in the best way and making this year’s AVA experience unique.  The dark evenings in September will also lend themselves to our new AV shows planned. We are proud & excited to bring back AVA to one of the best crowds in the world”

Festival Programme Manager, Emmett Costello said: “‘We are massively excited to be bringing AVA back, and to be pushing some fresh sounds in 2021. We’ve always tried to evolve our programming every year, and for 2021 we are particularly excited with the mix of local and international artists we’ve curated. Bringing in live performance with likes of Kojaque, Gemma Dunleavy, Aby Coulibaly and Leo Miyagee has always been a goal for us, but we’ve also continued to programme exciting electronic acts such as FJAAK, Carista, KI/KI and Or:la, alongside an amazing collection of local artists.”
