Blueprint continues to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2021 and to follow James Ruskin’s ‘Shortcut’ EP (BP058) and ‘Sketch’ (BP059), which saw Ruskin team up with Truncate for the first time, he now returns to one of his regular cohorts and fellow UK techno luminary, Mark Broom with the follow-up to their 2020 release, ‘Basement Jams’.

‘Basement Jams 2’ is comprised of five new slices of scorching techno from this distinguished duo, who in the past have also brought us dark experimentalism as The Fear Ratio and inspired hip-hop as Deadhand. Now returning to their techno roots, ‘Basement Jams 2’ is primed with dance floor (not long now!) destroyers.

Following this release, there’s more to come with a James Ruskin and DVS1 EP in July and a special BP25 compilation later this year.

After the disappointment of postponing the festival for a second year, the anguish of lockdown, the trepidation of normality returning and the butterflies in the pit of your stomach as the first rave back approaches – all signs point to an historic summer ahead. Everything has been building towards J2 at Tobacco Dock. The light at the end of the tunnel inches closer. All that pent-up energy will be unleashed. Anticipate emotional scenes as London crowds return to their playground.

The formidable lineup combines Junction 2’s past and those booked for the 2022 edition, as well as names introduced during Junction 2’s virtual programme in addition to a scattering of new faces. The line-up represents the core sound of J2, orbiting around an identity of underground house and techno, underpinned by the most influential and exciting artists in the industry. With four arenas to fill across two days, expect to find quality in every room from The Great Gallery to the Car Park, The Terrace to The Little Gallery..

Saturday 28th August 2021 kicks off with multi-disciplinary artist and Aphex Twin protege, Afrodeutsche, who will be spreading her vast roots and influences across Tobacco Dock. Joining her is one of modern techno’s leading ladies, the highly-talented Amelie Lens and rising Drumcode Records artists, ANNA. A favourite from London’s notorious Sunday after hours scene, Ceri adds further dynamite whilst Cici, will be channelling positive energy from all corners of the universe. Rounding off the first swathe of female talent, Bristol-based Danielle will be showcasing her many tastes and styles.

Last time we caught him playing above Berlin at the city’s TV Tower for Connections, but now J2 favourite, Dixon is returning to Tobacco Dock for a set in front of a live crowd – always an unmissable event. Self-deprecating cult hero DJ Boring offers some contrasting light and shade against the rest of the line-up, while arguably the most experienced name on the bill is inimitable electro and breakbeat master DMX Krew. Flying in from the USA will be Chicago-native and High Priestess of Motherbeat, Eris Drew.

He’s set to play live at J2 festival next June, but this August bank holiday Jon Hopkins will take to the decks to spin his favourite records. Adding to the rising home-grown talent, Leed’s native Kessie will make his debut and following some epic past appearances, Maceo Plex is confirmed for an extended four-hour set, providing the opportunity to showcase his full range from deviant disco, to electro, deep house and darker techno. After impressing in her Junction 2 stream from Millennium Mills, NTS star OK Williams gets a well-earned booking on the big stage, whilst fearless Palestinian artist Sama’ Abdulhadi and Clash Lion front women Terr complete the line-up.

The programme on Sunday 29th August 2021 is no less drama-filled. Junction 2’s official ambassador, Adam Beyer takes top billing, having overseen J2’s growth from inner city festival to a global stage. Rhythm Section ringleader Bradley Zero will trade mixes with Yu Su in an eye-catching b2b, whilst Charlotte de Witte will bring heavy artillery and a need for speed, to be matched by Monnom Black architect Dax J. One-woman funk machine, DJ Holographic brings her impeccable selection skills to the programme. Two of Europe’s most hotly-tipped DJs are next up, with Effy and her larger than life collaborator Heléna Star both confirmed. From next-gen to veteran, well-travelled K-HAND will be showcasing the sounds of her Detroit hometown.

Fresh from being the subject matter of new rave documentary Off The Record, certified legend Laurent Garnier will be making up for lost time with a long overdue Junction 2 debut, as well as his first appearance at Tobacco Dock. Truly one for the history books. Classically trained pianist, turned DJ Manami will show why she’s assimilated so effortlessly to club culture, whilst Maribou State are set to thrill with the first DJ set in their hometown in nearly 2 years.

Having played previous J2 events at Tobacco Dock, as well as the festival itself, crowd pleaser Nina Kraviz is invited back as a guest of honour, adding her energy to the landmark show. Half Baked Records’ Sam Bangura is a familiar face on the London circuit, whilst South African native SNO will be blending music from across her home continent. Promising to go against the grain, Polish underground radical VTSS completes the programme for the unmissable, bank holiday blowout.

Solardo present HIGHER Dubrovnik: Three day-and-night weekender in Croatia

Solardo will be joined by Andrea Oliva, Heidi, Nic Fanciulli, Danny Howard and more

Date: 23rd – 25th September

Pre-sale: https://bit.ly/33jA2hY | Artwork

Picture the scene: the sun is beating down, the Adriatic Sea is glistening, and behind you are historic streets and buildings you recognise from Game of Thrones. Welcome to HIGHER, a three-day and night Croatian extravaganza hosted by house heroes Solardo at Culture Club Revelin. Also supplying the sounds are superstar friends including Andrea Oliva, Danny Howard, Heidi, Max Chapman, Nic Fanciulli and wAFF, and that’s only phase one of the line-up. Sign up now for first access to tickets on May 13th at 10am.

The historic old town of Dubrovnik is an idyllic old-world setting right on Croatia’s south coast by the Adriatic Sea. It has gorgeous stone architecture, ancient clock towers and famous red tiled roofs. There’s a friendly, bustling atmosphere, winding streets filled with restaurants and bars, and plenty of sights made famous in Game of Thrones. By day, the sky is stunning azure blue, but as the sun sets it turns flame red and burnt orange. You will be right there dancing on the terrace of Culture Club Revelin as this stunning transition happens. Once it’s dark, the party heads inside what is one of DJ Mag’s Top 100 clubs in the world.

Alongside Solardo’s own Sola label, fellow hosts include SUAT, the Brit known for walking miles and miles as he live-streams his mixes from a DJ setup he carries on his front. Arielle Free’s new clubbing experience Free Your Mind also hosts, as do forward-thinking and eclectic Birmingham party crew WYLD, and Rituals LDN, a party known for bringing immersive and transformative production to a range of special spaces.

Musically the first wave includes a who’s who of contemporary talent from Radio 1 tastemaker Danny Howard to Ibiza legend Andrea Oliva via the jacking sounds of Heidi, melodic mastery of Nic Fanciulli and rolling techno of wAFF, with Sosa, Syreeta and Arielle Free also lining up.

There is much more to come for HIGHER 2021, but last year’s event sold out before it was postponed, so don’t sleep on securing tickets. Sign up now ahead of release on May 11th.

DGTL ADE Lineup Announcement

Over three days and across four events – including for the very first time a DGTL ADE daytime event – 20,000 music fans will flock to the festival’s traditional home at the NDSM Docklands in the heart of Amsterdam, to once more come together under the bass and reaffirm their passion for electronic music.

Starting off with a bang, the organisers today unveiled every single name on the line-up, a move that is sure to whet the whistle of ravers across Europe and beyond who are now figuring ADE into their calendars. The bill is as ever graced with a wealth of talent, not just from international headliners but also from local legends who have kept the Dutch music scene alive and kicking during this incredibly trying past year.

Playing a special DJ set – and looking to build on their iconic performance from DGTL AMS 2019 – is UK duo Disclosure, who top the bill on Thursday night alongside the legendary Honey Dijon. The trio are joined by a raft of names set to kick things off in inimitable fashion: Cinthie, Theo Kottis, William Djoko, Luuk van Dijk, Kléo and Sanja all squaring up to bring a considerable dose of house and techno to both stages.

Friday will be one for the books, as Kölsch rolls into town with fellow big hitter Sven Väth to take over DGTL with his IPSO label showcase event. With KiNK Live, Gerd Janson, Colyn, Jimi Jules, Jonathan Kaspar, Nicky Elisabeth and LEIA taking their place alongside, the event promises to be a true highlight of the ADE experience for any fan wanting their musical mind blown.

On Saturday – and for the very first time in the brand’s history – DGTL will run a ADE daytime event, with headliner acts across the board making this feel like a festival within a festival: Dixon, The Blessed Madonna, Jon Hopkins, Danilo Plessow (MCDE), Jayda G, David Vunk, Paramida, Philou Louzolo, Suze Ijó and Fafi Abel Nour. Saturday night sees DGTL attendees able to indulge their love of dark and dirty techno, as the hardest of all four line-ups drops to round off DGTL ADE in thoroughly spectacular style. Afra, AnD, Dax J, DJ Stingray 313, KI/KI, Kobosil, LVTL, Paula Temple and SPFDJ & VTSS should give any techno fan worth their salt one of the deepest experiences DGTL have ever offered on the bill.

Fans can already register for early access to DGTL ADE 2021 tickets, with public ticket sales opening at 12:00 CEST on Tuesday May 21st.

PBR Streetgang ‘Dayskipper EP’

Artist: PBR Streetgang
Title: Dayskipper EP
Label: 10 Questions
Cat. #: 10Q002
Format: Vinyl / Digital
Release Date: 7th May 2021 (Vinyl) / 14th May 2021 (Digital)
Tracklist

  1. Dayskipper
  2. Knockout
  3. Chi-Lite

Dam Swindle’s Lars Dales welcomes PBR Streetgang to deliver the second release on his newly minted 10 Questions imprint, with the UK favourites revealing their slick three-track ‘Dayskipper’ EP.

Launched earlier this year, 10 Questions welcomes a brand-new label to the world and a new home for quality productions across the electronic sphere. The brainchild of Dam Swindle’s Lars Dales and graphic designer Bas Koopmans, the Amsterdam-based imprint introduces a new concept drawing from each individual artist’s unique characteristics and traits, with the answers to the ten questions presented via visual form across the release’s artwork and sleeve – ensuring that both music and art co-exist in the same creative realm. Following on from an impressive first release, 10 Questions now ventures deeper into Italo territory as they welcome one of the scene’s longest-running duos, PBR Streetgang. Known for their big dancefloor tracks across both house and disco, this latest EP sees the pairing once again serve up a quality offering as they deliver the label’s sophomore release, ‘Dayskipper’.

Title track ‘Dayskipper’ opens proceedings and sets the mood as 707 drum programming and rolling Italo basslines meet catchy synth hooks and choir stabs to drive the theme home. Combine those elements with the ominous, well- crafted chords which cut through the production like a knife through butter and you’re left with a slick and powerful lead track perfect for the dancefloor.

Next, the duo draw from early house influences whilst fusing contemporary soundscapes on ‘Knockout’, weaving playful ‘Moog’ style basslines with infectious vocal hits and resonant piano hooks, plus a pinch of hip-house to deliver a slick effort and the perfect recipe for a good time. On the flip, third track ‘Chi-Lite’ takes full hold of the B- Side as they unveil a dreamy proto-house offering with syncopated stabs and DX7-style bells masterfully shifting from floating moments to driving, dancefloor energy within a matter of minutes.
