Festival’s director & DJ Tom Pooks comments : “Past months have been extremely stressful for us as we were waiting for French authorities’s green light and restrictions were uncertain till late. Now we are more confident and excited about the weekend, even if we had to cut 2 of 3 our initial stages and reduce the amount of guest artists we’ll have on stage. We’re very happy about the great feedbacks we’ve received on our line-up announcement so far, it will be a crazy edition for sure and that’s the best celebration we could ever imagine for our 10th birthday.”

As voted in France since June 9th, a sanitary pass will be requested to each attendee, which means a negative test, a vaccination act or immunity certificate will have to be shown at the entrance. For those who won’t get their sanitary pass, a free test zone will be held to secure access to every ticket holders.

Early Bird tickets are already sold-out for the weekend pass, capacity will be limited to 10000 people over the weekend.

PRINTWORKS LAUNCH: EXTRAVAGANZA 4th Feb 2017

BrewLDN 2021 | July 29th-31st at Printworks

BrewLDN ‘21 announce 50 more Craft Breweries, Street Food Arena and Tasting Experiences.

There can be no better way to embrace your post-lockdown freedom than with an all-encompassing session of beer discovery, world class DJs and street eats at Brew//LDN 2021. This year’s vast gathering will see the biggest collection of craft breweries to take part in a UK beer event since BrewLDN’s inaugural festival in February 2020. More than 50 new breweries have been announced next to gourmet tasting experiences from plant-based pioneers Beyond Meat and custom cheesecake leaders Pleesecakes plus mouthwatering street food from Club Mexicana, Da Fish Ting, Born & Raised and Only Jerkin. It all takes place across expansive indoor and outdoor spaces at Printworks London from Thursday, July 29th to Saturday, July 31st with full info at brewldn.com.

“Brew//LDN are pleased to announce that following the government announcement on 14th June, the dates of our 2021 festival remain unaffected. Everyone working in events has suffered during the last year and we’ve been incredibly nervous about our survival prospects. We are extremely grateful that we are able to host the first beer festival and trade show of 2021 at Printworks in July. We’ve been overwhelmed by the confidence shown by our customers and ticket sales are ahead of any previous year. We also want to salute the small independent breweries, as we welcome 50 more of them to the festival this year; they have committed to taking part, sharing their products and moving forward in this incredibly positive way.” Chris Bayliss, Co-Founder Brew//LDN

All beery-bases are covered at Brew//LDN Festival from alcohol-free to female-lead brews, hoppy swills to lighter ales. The likes of Big Hug Brewing helps to support homeless charities with their easy-drinking, balanced 4.6% Pave The Way Pale Ale, while Gosnells of London make session meads – lighter, drier and designed to be drunk with food much like a beer or a cider. Fungtn is a delicious alcohol-free craft beer, brewed with adaptogens, a class of ingenious fungi, for maximum wellness and minimum hangovers. You can also look forward to Exale Brewing from Walthamstow, a brewery famous for playing Rod Stewart to its Irn Brw Sour during fermentation, as well as Toast Ale, an award-winning craft beer brewed with surplus fresh bread that would otherwise be wasted.

On top of this, there is a wealth of world renowned international brew houses such as Hong Kong’s Gweilo Beer, Voodoo Ranger from Colorado and Haacht Brewery Belgium plus local British breweries like York’s Brew York, Glen Affric in Birkenhead and Scotland’s Overtone Brewing Co., Innis & Gunn and Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing. London is proudly represented by Five Points, Laine Brew, Wild Card, People’s Captain, Pillars, Signature, Lucky Saint, Gorgeous, Exale, The Pretty Decent Beer Co. and many more already announced. A full list can be found below.

New brewing tech will also be showcased at the festival with highlights including Pinter, a revolutionary device that enables anyone to effortlessly brew 10 delicious pints of fresh craft beer at home using just 3 ingredients; water, yeast and one of Pinter’s revolutionary (letterbox-friendly and packaging-reducing) Fresh Press brewing bottles.

Spirit lovers should head over to East London Liquor Co’s corner where they’ll have their own sound system and party happening while they showcase their East London Gin, London Rye Whiskey and Vodka all distilled right here in London. You’ll be able to sample the liquors in cocktails and pre-mixed cans featuring flavours like Vodka & Rhubarb, Rum & Ginger and Gin & Tonic as well as in an exclusive frozen range created for Brew//LDN including the SnowGroni and FroRumFashioned.

Each year, Brew//LDN becomes more and more vegan friendly and this continues in 2021. The majority of brews poured at the festival are vegan and many of the independent brewers’ full selection are listed as vegan. In addition, festival favourites Club Mexicana will be returning with their 100% vegan, Mexican-inspired tacos, nachos and burritos. Meanwhile plant-based pioneers Beyond Meat will be hosting a special tasting experience at Brew//LDN where guests can sample their delicious sizzling plant-based sausages and juicy plant-based burgers. Now everyone can eat and drink what they love, without compromising on taste, nutrition, or the environment.

Adding to the sense of occasion, another tasting experience from no-bake cheesecake masters Pleesecakes is announced. They will set up their ‘Build Your Own’ bar where you can customise your own delicious Pleesecake with a range of bases, fillings and toppings. Also, as it’s summer, Pleesecakes’ all-new Freezecakes, the world’s first frozen cheesecake in a tub, will be served from an ice cream-style truck with options including; butterscotch and caramel, chocolate cheesecake mixed with double chocolate biscuit, lemon and raspberry cheesecake mixed with shortbread biscuit, gooey lemon curd and more.

The first street food traders can also be announced. Expect to fill up on vibrant British and pan-Asian inspired street food from Da Fish Ting, who serve soft shell crabs and fish burgers from responsibly managed fisheries. Born & Raised offer wood-fired British sourdough pizzas from the side of a Land Rover with toppings like pepperoni & chilli honey, beetroot & goats cheese or mushroom & truffle. Only Jerkin’ offers innovative jerk-inspired chicken eats with plenty more on offer in the vast open-air Container Yard at Printworks.

Brew//LDN‘s search for the next generation of beer entrepreneurs continues with the launch of their Brew//Accelerator Competition 2021. Aimed at new brewers or innovative businesses that are less than 3 years old or brand new business ideas, applicants are encouraged to submit their plans online at brewldn.com. Entries are open until June 30th and five finalists will be selected by judges to exhibit at Brew//LDN 2021 with the overall winner receiving 12 months of business support and mentoring worth £50k.

All of this will be soundtracked by classy DJs who reach deep into the worlds of funk, disco, soul, house, classics and plenty more. They are the same acts who were originally billed to play BrewLDN’s Covid-19-cancelled Summer Sessions festival including RAW SILK, The Reflex, Eliza Rose, WOLF Music, Demi Riquisimo, Bill Brewster, Krywald & Farrer, Medlar and more.

The final countdown is on to the UK’s greatest celebration of beer and foodie treats. Tickets include a Brew//LDN festival glass and festival magazine. Tickets and more information at brewldn.com.

Annika Wolfe ‘Chiques Funk’

Artist: Annika Wolfe
Title: Chiques Funk
Label: Motech Records
Cat. #: MT145
Format: Digital
Release Date: 16 July 2021
Tracklist:
1. Drama
2. Flavor
3. Chiques Funk

Forthcoming on Motech Records is ‘Chiques Funk’ [MT145] from American techno artist Annika Wolfe.

Annika Wolfe’s early musical influences span a range of genres from Punk and New Wave to Hip Hop and Funk. Such eclectic taste brings a unique sound to Wolfe’s deep, rhythmic and raw Techno, which was first brought to DJ 3000’s attention via an EP for Truncate’s WRKTRX label. After reaching out, Annika now debuts on his prestigious Detroit techno label Motech Records.

“The EP was inspired by my thirst for the late-night warehouse parties we are accustomed to in Los Angeles”, says Annika, “this is my take on raw, jacking styled techno”.

Track one, ‘Drama’ instantly captures attention with its funky Ghettotech vibe, jacking drum programming and claps that elevate every transition. The second track ‘Flavor’ steps the groove level up a gear. As Annika adds, “I tried to hone in the energy of a night out by serving three tracks with different moods”. The final track ‘Chiques Funk’ sets the tone for peak-time on the dance floor. Distorted robotic bleeps filter through percussive toms and claps resulting in a sound reminiscent of Detroit techno’s stripped-back soundscapes. Bringing maximum energy, Annika concludes, “The EP is driven with classic 808, and 909 percussion rhythms, followed with cold, funky and quirky synths that modulate throughout”.

‘Cliques Funk’ [MT145] from Annika Wolfe is available on Motech Records via all digital and streaming platforms from 16 July.

BPX013 - Gotshell - Rezagados EP

Gotshell ‘Rezagados EP’

Artist: Gotshell
Title: Rezagados EP
Label: Bpitch
Cat. #: BPX013
Format: Digital
Tracklist:
1. Estado de Conmoción (1:49)

5. Rezagados (7:16)
6. Aguilas (5:08)
7. ¿Y La Libertad? (2:52)
8. ¡Calumnia e Injuria! (2:21)

Hailing from the city of Pereira, the producer and live act Gotshell debuts on Bpitch Berlin, a wide-ranging and potent 8-track EP, crispy modular system sounds, produced in solidarity with the ongoing protests in his native Colombia.
Gotshell made his name through appearances on Mord, Planet Rhythm, Nachtstrom Schallplatten, EPM and James Ruskin’s Blueprint. Prolifi c, diverse and unpredictable, his productions weave together classic old school techno loops, IDM, breaks and experimental noise. As a live performer, his freewheeling and psychedelic sets at festivals like Freedom in Colombia and Jungle Groove in Ecuador, plus underground clubs in Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Tresor Berlin have earned him an international following.
Produced against a backdrop of poverty, inequality and protest met with violent government reprisals, Rezagados is an outcry against the Colombian government’s repression of dissent and creation of what the producer calls a ‘distorted reality that minimizes hope’.
Across 8 tracks Gotshell is in full fl ight, ranging from twisted cross-rhythmic techno to intricate, stuttering IDM. Moments of darkness are balanced by fl ashes of light, sounds of nature and searching euphoria, before the EP’s deep and contorted climax. It’s the sound of a producer restless and determined to resist.

The Arch Brighton set to reopen after refurbishment

The Arch, 187-189 Kings Road Arches, Brighton, BN1 1NB | thearch.club | @thearchbrighton

Fifteen months of darkness have passed. No parties. No funding. But no worries: it might have been the bleakest ever period in the long and storied history of Brighton’s The Arch, but the club never gave up hope. After a long and arduous wait, the iconic venue is back with a bang on Saturday June 26th with a full refurb, new soundsystem, 2 new arches and a sensational season of events featuring the likes of Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex, Skream, Shanti Celeste, wAFF, Saoirse, Rich Nxt, He.She.They, Cafe Mambo and many more.

This much-loved club was about to start its busiest month ever in March 2020. It had been five years since the space reopened as ‘The Arch’ and a deserving celebration was on the horizon. Then Covid-19 hit. The venue was closed and soon after had its bid for Culture Recovery Funding rejected by the Arts Council despite its diverse and culturally significant programme. What’s more, it was decided the time would be used for a full refurb.

Damien Fell – Head of Music, The Arch & Life in the Park Festival. “Rather than resting on our laurels we decided to give this historic Brighton venue a new lease of life and committed to a big refurbishment, even though we did not receive the Arts Council funding. The last year has been extremely challenging; to keep the business alive we built a take away bar from the venue’s fire exit and dug in to get the job done. The Arch is looking the best it ever has and I can only sit here in awe of the work that has been done by the team as we set to reopen with Jamie Jones on Saturday 26th June.”

The storied Victorian arches on Kings Road have been completely refreshed with stripped back and newly polished concrete floors, exposed steel mezzanines for overarching views and unfussy but stylish industrial decor throughout. Sound and light production has been upgraded including new LED screens, 4D laser show, CO2 cannons, immersive lighting and two brand new rooms – The Box and The Hangar. A bespoke ‘12KW Funktion-one Dance Stack’ sound system with twelve 21 inch bass speakers has been refurbished and re-calibrated for unrivalled sound quality in the main room.

Says Tony Andrews of Funktion-One, “In addition two Funktion-One sound systems were required for their new rooms; The Box and The Hangar. The management were also keen to collaborate with us on upgrading the general acoustic properties of the club. This is a club sound system we’re very proud of.”

The Arch is a space that has defined clubbing on the South Coast for decades. It first opened in 1984 with the goal of being “a club for artists, run by artists who understand performers and their needs.” Ever since it has attracted a seriously music loving crowd and championed an always underground sound. Previous incarnations as The Zap Club, Digital and Coliseum have seen influential acts like Chemical Brothers, Sonic Youth, Moby, Paul Weller and DJs Harvey, Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier and countless more all play plus blueprint-setting LGBTQ+ nights such as Club Bent and Club Shame as well as many more.

Says Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim, “The music community in Brighton is close to my heart; it’s where I live and I’ve been a part of it for decades. The Arch is also part of that and they’ve put Brighton’s nightlife scene at the centre of the UK underground movement for several years now. It’s been a struggle for them during the pandemic and it’s great to see them refurbishing the space. The club is part of Brighton’s musical heritage (I can remember the heady days when it was Zap Club!) and the team at The Arch are preserving that for future generations. I really hope to play there again this summer!”

This latest chapter is underpinned by an all-new resident team that mixes youthful energy, vision and enthusiasm with the class and understanding of some key UK mainstays: Hatcha, Denney, Fleur Shore, Joseph Edmund, Summer Ghemati and That Songbird will play on rotation each and every week.

As for the new season, it boasts a tasteful cross-section of the best in house, techno, bass, tech, electro and garage from a diverse cross-section of talents. The grand opening is June 26th hosted by Otherworld and headlined by Jamie Jones, then Do Not Sleep rolls in on July 3rd with Chris Stussy, Seb Zito and Ray Mono, Skream and Cassy play July 10th, Renaissance brings Maceo Plex on July 17th, Dance on Arrival on July 24th is headlined by Rich NxT and GW Harrison and then Cafe Mambo closes out the month on the 30th with Mark Knight and Danny Howard.

August welcomes He.She.They with Shanti Celeste and Saoirse, more events with Cafe Mambo, Otherworld and Clockwork Orange and Eastenderz with East End Dubs, Rossi and Fleur Shore and plenty more in September including a Boundary Festival Aftershow and Otherworld with Richy Ahmed.

Alongside the refurbishment, The Arch team are also spreading positivity in the region by launching Life in the Park Festival at Brighton Rugby Club. Each of the eight special shows will welcome 2000 people to party outside to the sounds of Orbital, Denis Sulta, Nightmares on Wax, David Rodigan and more, all as a way of celebrating something of a return to normality.

After a long, hard 15 months, the much-anticipated return to The Arch will be explosive indeed. Do not miss out on this historic re-opening. For more information and tickets head to The Arch’s new website at thearch.club.

VOLTAGE announce full line up for 2021 festival

Event: VOLTAGE Festival 2021
Dates: 7 & 8 August 2021
Venue: Transfo, Blokellestraat 113b, 8550 Zwevegem, Belgium
Tickets: https://www.voltagefestival.com/

After the record edition of 2019, VOLTAGE is preparing to hit even harder in the new decade. The abandoned power plant, Transfo in Zwevegem (BE), welcomes a mix of the best national and international techno artists, on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 August. The announcement of the complete line-up will make many techno-hearts skip a beat. With none other than Len Faki, Karenn, 999999999, British Murder Boys, SPFDJ and Anetha on the festival’s bill, the second weekend of August is one to look forward to!

VOLTAGE has grown into an impressive powerhouse on the national and international festival circuit. Last year, no less than 25% of the visitors came from abroad, namely from New Zealand, South Korea, USA, Australia, Austria, UK, France, The Netherlands and many more. Over the years, the organization has stuck to its core values: a mix of established techno heroes and emerging talents, presented in an industrial context: the amazing Transfo site in Zwevegem (Belgium).

A series of local, national and international artists will bring the old power plant back to life on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 August. More than 50 artists complete the line-up, with Len Faki as the absolute headliner. The German DJ, producer, Berghain resident and label owner is seen as one of the greatest techno gurus on earth.

The line-up is further strengthened by the duo VTSS and Randomer, under the name of their musical project Body Sushi. The French DJ, producer and label owner, Anetha, will also be present. She is seen as the new generation’s leading figure and her musical DNA – a mix of EBM, trance, electro and old school ’90s techno – goes hand in hand with VOLTAGE’s concept. Viper Diva, the brand-new project of Taapion Records label owner Shlømo and his French countryman Hadone, will also head to the picturesque city of Zwevegem in August.

VOLTAGE always delivers a fine selection of live sets. This year it’s brought by Karenn, consisting of the renowned duo Blawan and Pariah. As well as the Italian duo 999999999, who already blew up the Turbine stage in 2018. The British Murder Boys, aka Regis and Surgeon, who have not performed in Belgium for 11 years (apart from their performance in C12). Last but definitely not least, four amazing live sets brought by: the Germans Desroi and Shed, the English duo AnD and the Belgians Techno Thriller.

VOLTAGE’s line-up is perfect for techno-adventurers looking for innovations in the scene. The bill includes the German SPFDJ, a resident at the revolutionary “Herrensauna”. She will bring a rough set which party goers can attend at their own risk. The Danish DJ and label owner, Identified Patient, who is praised for her unique sound consisting of fast, streamlined stompers with a hint of electro and wrong-speed EBM. Inhalt der Nacht, founder of the labels Modul & Lebendig, resident DJ at the famous Berlin club Griessmuehle and considered as one of the most promising artists of the moment, will be expected. To top things off VOLTAGE booked the Dutchman named Identified Patient. This frequently asked DJ at the avant-garde club “De School”, is widely praised for his signature sound, namely an experimental sound that floats between techno and acid.

The artists will be divided over three stages: the Anode, the Turbine and since 2018, the Rotor stage. Several organizations are given the opportunity to host their own stage and to let their DJ selection go wild on the VOLTAGE fans. There will be six hosts, including three returning ones: the French collective Possession and the Ghentian organization Rimbu. Brand new hosts are Kompass Klub which has already been elected best Belgian club for 2 years. Kompass is inviting the brand new STYXX (fka Stygian’s River), to join them in hosting the Anode stage on Saturday. But also Fuse, the longest running techno club in Belgium, C12 that finished second in the “Belgian club top 30” at the 2019 Red Bull Elektropedia awards and Voltage Imprint, the eponymous label with promising Belgian talents.

However, as VOLTAGE Festival is a test event – the first test festival in Belgium – there will be a few obligations festival goers have to adhere to:
– All visitors must install the Close app.
– All visitors will need to show a valid covid Safe Ticket (for Belgian visitors) or a valid European Digital COVID Certificate (for non Belgian visitors) each day upon entering the festival grounds.

A covid Safe Ticket or European Digital COVID Certificate is granted when:
– You have been fully vaccinated for at least two weeks.
– You can present a negative and officially registered PCR test no older than 72 hours.
– You have had COVID in the past six months and can present proof.

For tickets and all info, head to the festival’s website:
