UK artist Rene Wise is back on Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver label this June with the ‘Lakota Fox’ EP.

Andrew Shobeiri, aka Rene Wise, possesses an uncanny ability to create a sound that fuses hip-shaking grooves with a raw but modern touch. With a fine ear for infectious rhythm derived from a love of classic 90’s era techno, Wise breeds a deep sense of knowledge and maturity beyond what you’d expect for an artist of his age. A digital EP on Mark Broom’s Beardman imprint and a debut 12’-inch release on Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver imprint laid the foundations for his musical journey. Wise has continued to showcase his artistic abilities with a consistent run of releases in 2021, including a split EP with techno heavyweight Rodhad on WSNWG and a solo EP on Setaoc Mass’ imprint SK_eleven. The ‘Lakota Fox’ EP now sees Rene Wise return to Mote-Evolver as he displays his flair for producing dynamic techno rollers and spectral soundscapes.

‘Raptor’ kicks off the EP with menacing grooves, enrapturing fx and fluttering synths that fluidly unite with one another before icy yet shrilling pads, shimmering drums with hypnotic bass meandering underneath sets the tone for ‘Marbles’. Up next, title track ‘Lakota Fox’ masterfully explores deeper techno territories as the mesmeric rhythms, shadowy pulsations, and moody reverb create a trance-inducing atmosphere throughout.

‘Hand Tap’ makes way for skeletal bleeps, psychedelic undertones and tension-building minimalism that effortlessly entices you until ‘Truffles’ rounds off this impressive techno five-tracker with spiralling synths that fuse with reverberating low frequencies and bumpy kicks exquisitely.

Various ‘EPM20 – EP 3’

Artist: Various
Title: EPM20 – EP 3
Label: EPMmusic
Cat. #: EPM23V / EPM92D
Format: Vinyl / Digital
Release Date: 30 July 2021
Tracklist:
1. Eddie Fowlkes – 1-2-3
2. Jon Dixon – Mack & Bewick
3. DJ 3000 – Summer 1995
4. Rico & Sonny – The Beat

To mark EPM’s 20th anniversary we’ve been releasing a series of EPs, each one focussing on a different genre. In May we brought you a taste of Techno with Robert Hood, Ben Sims, James Ruskin and Mark Broom each delivering their distinct production skills, while June sees the release of our second EP bringing together cuts by some of Electro’s leading lights – The Advent & Zein Ferreira, Carl Finlow, Detroit’s Filthiest and Modulator (a.k.a. Freddie Fresh).

For the third and final EP in the series we turn our attention to House music, and once again we’ve commissioned four brand new and exclusive tracks from artists who we’ve had the pleasure to work with over the years.

First up is none other than a Detroit Techno founding father and the TechnoSoul innovator himself Eddie Fowlkes, who delivers a classy opener in ‘1-2-3’ that’s deep yet vibrant and showcases his legendary status. Next is a fellow Motor City modernizer, Jon Dixon whose musicianship and productive talent takes him from jazz to techno which he skilfully brings to ‘Mack & Bewick’. Motech Records’ founder DJ 3000 brings us the spirit of ‘Summer 1995’ as he briefly steps away from techno to give us this uplifting sun-drenched stunner. Final track ‘The Beat’ comes from Rico & Sonny, the pseudonym of Chicago based DJ duo and production team of Adam Stolz and the talented Tim Baker, recorded before his devastating and untimely passing. His music lives on and we’d like to dedicate this EP to him.

The ‘EPM20’ compilation which features all the tracks from the EPs plus additional cuts from a host of other artists and EPM friends will follow after the summer.

Lisbon will host its first edition of Sónar in 2022

After Buenos Aires, Hong Kong, Istanbul, New York, Reykjavik, São Paulo, and Tokyo, among many global cities in the world Sónar will take place in Lisbon from the 8th until the 10th of April 2022.

The programme for the first Portuguese edition of the Barcelona festival with 27 years of history, will take place at  5 different locations across Lisbon.

Sónar Lisboa 2022 will be celebrated in various locations and venues in  the Portuguese capital. Sónar By Day will take place in the Sónar Village, a new purpose-built space  in the Cais do Sodré area, next to the Tejo River and Factory Lisbon (Hub Criativo do Beato). Sónar By Night will take place n both the Pavilhão Carlos Lopes (Av. Sidónio Pais 16 (Parque Eduardo VII)), Coliseu dos Recreios (R. das Portas de Santo Antão 96) and the Pavilhão do Rio, Lisbon Congress Center (Praça das Indústrias 1).

Music has been the starting point of Sónar since its foundation, and Sónar Lisboa 2022 will be no exception. The programme will be revealed very soon, embracing fresh and well known acts, both from the  national and international scenes..

Sónar Lisboa 2022 aims to stand at the forefront of culture and will build bridges between artists, citizens and the creative industries (audiovisual, gaming, animation, robotics, virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence,,,). Pyramid Amnesia 2021 Closing Party

Pyramid Announces Huge 2021 Closing Party
Terraza
Ricardo Villalobos & Luciano, KiNK (live), Mar-T
Club
Nina Kraviz, Dax J, Anetha and Luca Donzelli
As Ibiza is added to the safe travel list, Amnesia continues to announce its much anticipated season in reverse. Next up is Pyramid’s sure-to-be historic 2021 closing party on Sunday, October 10th. This always legendary event will be headlined on the Terraza by firm favourites Ricardo Villalobos & Luciano, KiNK (live), Mar-T, and in the Club by Nina Kraviz, Dax J, Anetha and Luca Donzelli. Despite the current pandemic, Amnesia has worked hard to pull together two rooms of the world’s most elite DJing stars. This Pyramid closing party is proof of that, but there is much more to come in August, September and October.
In just a few short years, Pyramid has shaken up the Ibiza landscape. The Monday night party moved to Sundays in 2020 with some mega line-ups that sadly never came to be. But before that, it had already recaptured some of the island’s early glory days with a focus on the music first and foremost. At Pyramid, people are there to dance until the sun comes up and beyond. The night is synonymous with only the most globally acclaimed DJs and loved for its mind-blowing production. Each party is a sensory explosion with cutting-edge technology, organic materials and immersive audiovisuals that truly offer something unique. After too long away because of the pandemic, this closing show is sure to be a celebration like no other.
Fittingly, then, the world’s most iconic DJs will headline the famous Terraza. Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano have already sold out their show at Cova Santa, and are official Pyramid ambassadors. They will play together for a set of mind-warping techno that will show off the dexterous DJ skills and unpredictable selections that have made them real Pyramid favourites. Joining them is Bulgarian live wizard KiNK, who cooks up electrifying sets of impromptu techno on his vast array of synths and drum machines. It is one of dance music’s most amazing spectacles and cannot be missed. Lastly comes Mar-T, the long-time Amnesia resident, a DJ who knows the club’s crowds and sounds inside out, and who never fails to amaze.
In the Club is new school techno queen Nina Kraviz. The DJ, producer and Trip label boss has innovated the techno world in recent years and can do anything from deep, pulsing, acid-laced rollers to raved-up sounds that leave the dance floor in awe. Dax J is a London-born, Berlin-based artist who is the quintessential DJ in every sense. The Monnom Black label boss has a famously raw and individual take on techno that never lets up. Meanwhile, Anetha is a Parisian techno mainstay and Blocaus resident who has risen to the top with her forward thinking sounds. Lastly, Italian Luca Donzell is of course the second Amnesia resident known the world over for lighting up the world-famous super club with his storytelling sets of house and techno.
The Pyramid closing party is one of the real must-attend events in Ibiza. After the 18 months everyone has had, this one is set to be even more special than ever before.

Do Not Sleep Announces Unmissable 2021 Closing Party at Amnesia Ibiza

Date: 12.10.21
Venue: Amnesia, Ibiza
TERRACE
Patrick Topping, Paul Woolford and Gerd Janson, Cinthie

MAIN ROOM
Archie Hamilton, Sidney Charles and Chris Stussy b2b S.A.M.

Amnesia Ibiza continues to announce its long-awaited 2021 season in backwards order with news of it’s always unforgettable Do Not Sleep Closing Party on October 12th. This year’s much-needed celebration will be headlined by house and techno tastemakers Patrick Topping, Paul Woolford, Cinthie and Gerd Janson on the Terrace, and Archie Hamilton, Sidney Charles and Chris Stussy b2b S.A.M.

Do Not Sleep launched in 2014 and immediately changed the Ibiza landscape with a non-conformist attitude exemplified by its ‘straight through crew’ mantra and hashtag. The party’s firm focus on young, fresh talents and music-first, underground-only vibes also stands it apart. Initially a nomadic party in hot demand at Space, Pacha and Privilege, it eventually set up a more lasting home at the globally renowned Amnesia. This year the brand will be on a mini world tour, hosting club events and festival stages all over the globe, always with the hottest house and techno acts providing the sounds.

This closing party at the famously authentic Ibiza superclub that is Amnesia will be no different. It will play out across the club’s two iconic spaces – The Terrace, and Main Room. In the former will be Patrick Topping, the Trick party and label head who is very much the face of contemporary British house and techno. He will be joined by the relentless Paul Woolford, who can do everything from classy piano house bangers to face-melting techno, all with endless reserves of passion and energy. Running Back label boss and famously eclectic, party-starting DJ and deep digging vinyl collector Gerd Janson also plays with an always unpredictable bag of tricks. Completing the Terrace is Berlin mainstay, record label boss and record store owner Cinthie, whose raw, deep, authentic brand of house music has made her one of the best in the game.

The Main Room will be lit up with the pounds of Archie Hamilton, who runs three labels in Moscow Records, Moss Co. & Arkityp, and someone who is one of the most sought after DJs in the game because of his knack for laying down sets of irresistible minimal-leaning house. Heavy House Society label boss Sidney Charles also lines up with his bass-heavy, chunky, floor-facing house grooves which are designed for maximum physical impact. Lastly, Chris Stussy b2b S.A.M is a face-off between two vital talents and masters of electronic funk and slick, spaced out house. Between them, they have landed on classy labels like Stussy’s Up The Stussy, Locus and Eastenderz.

This will be another historic night. Make sure you get involved with the #straightthroughcrew.

Glam Shoreditch unveils new opening dates

Amand Van Helden, Louie Vega, Dennis Ferrer, Jeremy Underground, Bellaire and more to join Morales in playing the opening weeks at the premium club

Opening Date: 24th July

Tickets & Info: https://www.glamshoreditch.com/

Glam Shoreditch is a brand new and standout club that brings light, love, colour and charisma back to the fore. After a postponement due to the latest Coronavirus-restrictions, the game-changing space will offer luxury indulgence with high-end design and an authentic, heartfelt house soundtrack as soon as it opens on July 24th. Playing that historic party will be the carefully selected team of residents Natasha Kitty Katt, Neil Pearce, Ceri, The Mendenez Brothers, Smiggy Smalls and Bhavik, while brand new resident and globally acclaimed house icon David Morales plays the 31st and then every two weeks after whilst house superstars that are Louis Vegas and vocalist Anane play August 7th.

Impressive new resident David Morales has done it all, from winning Grammy Awards to remixing Bjork, Kylie Minogue, Janet Jackson and tens more. He has always defined his own unique brand of house while headlining every major club and festival in the world. He is one of the genre’s most pioneering figures and someone who plays with infectious passion and rare knowledge each and every time. He has released on the world’s most iconic labels and is a living legend who is exactly the right fit for Glam and is sure to light up the club each and every time. What a signing!

As well as Morales, the first few months at Glam offer plenty of mouth-watering treats. It all kicks off with the talented residents who are a mix of assured talents and red hot up and comers – Matasha Kitty Katt, Neil Pearce, Ceri, The Mendenez Brothers, Smiggy Smalls and Bhavik. Then brand new resident David Morales plays the 31st and then every two weeks after, and Louis Vegas – a studio wizard and one half of Masters At Work – and vocalist Anane play August 7th. Fellow American house tastemaker and Objektivity label head Dennis Ferrer brings his deep sounds on August 21st. On August 28th, Parisian hero, famously obsessive record collector and passionate selector Jeremy underground brings his eclectic bag of US house with Bellaire, with many more headliners to come.

Glam Shoreditch is a new project from old friends Paul Nelson and Carl McCormick. For years, Carl was deeply entrenched in the London scene of the 90s. He was hosting parties with the likes of Masters At Work, Miguel Migs, Dave Lee and Eric Prydz at legendary venues including The Arches on Southwalk Street, and even locked in Danny Rampling as resident in 1995 at Aquarium. Paul, meanwhile, was the first person to ever get a legal rave license for his legendary Raindance events. As such, this scene runs deep in their soul.

They first met at Carl’s Masters at Work party in Arches in 1992 when he was a student about to graduate from his Fashion PR degree at University Of Arts. They then launched Aquarium in 1995, a hugely influential venue that ushered in the clubbing revolution that took hold in Shoreditch in the ensuing years. Back then, way ahead of their time, the promoters focused on dressing up the venue in luxury fabrics, with exotic lighting and premium clientele who liked to dress up to get down. The club was famously inclusive and welcoming to all. A place where every race, gender and sexuality came together as one. Many modern dance floors now strive for this mix. But it has always come naturally to this pair, and will very much define the latest chapter in their ongoing love story with clubland.

Says Carl, “I cut my teeth at the always beautifully designed and luxuriant Renaissance with its world-class DJs, and I’m not gunna lie, it’s a huge inspiration for what we are doing with Glam Shoreditch. The club is just what everyone needs right now – something that’s high-end, super special in every way, but never too stuffy or elitist. We’re proudly going against the grain and redefining the glossy glam of the 90s with a contemporary soundtrack.”

Each weekend, the fully renovated club will stimulate your every sense with plush drapes, dangling chandeliers, warming backlights and a host of wild characters, from drag queens to burlesque dancers. It will be flamboyant and full of the disco dazzle that made the likes of Puscha, Malibu Staceys, Velvet Underground, Milk Club, Georgie Parties such a cult spot, but always with a no-nonsense, proper house soundtrack.

The utterly sensual Glam Shoreditch offers three unique spaces. The famous pool has gone and been replaced with the VIP Phoenix Lounge in partnership with Ciroc. There is also the mid-sized main room for headliner action, and the magnificent Salon Privé, a cocktail lounge serving contemporary fusion food, with live, cosy, unplugged soul and jazz shows in a stylish art deco setting reminiscent of the roaring twenties.

Glam Shoreditch promises something truly different. Make sure you’re a part of the story.
