Italian live performer and producer Giorgia Angiuli has announced plans that she is to start her own record label, UNITED.

The first project on the label will be a Charity single she has made with various artists to raise money for the Italian Red Cross for Covid-19. The Italian multi-instrumentalist was joined by her friend Cioz and invited producers and musicians over the last 8 weeks who have currently been facing isolation to join her in piecing together a song.

Known for her quirky approach to live performance and her uncanny ability to weave rich sounds together both in the studio and on the dancefloor, Giorgia Angiuli invited producers of all character, style, and experience to partake in her new audio project, UNITED. She outlined instructions for participation via her social media profiles and then took the top submissions to create a unified piece of music that will be released first exclusively on Beatport on May 29th 2020.

Giorgia said “ The new project United has given me a lot of energy. I was very happy to share ideas with producers around the world. Music connects us, music is life, music is freedom. That’s why I don’t have any specific musical direction or boundaries. I like everything that is made with passion, from classical to techno. In our daily life we need different soundtrack for different moments and music is a little miracle that embraces our different mood.”

She has also invited producers to make remixes and she will release 3 remixes of the United original track.

Next on her label, will be an EP of her own music including a collaboration with a producer that she met thanks to United project, Norse Kode.

“United we stand, divided we fall; Union is strength”

G Flame ‘Broken EP’

Artist: G Flame
Title: Broken EP
Label: No.19 Music
Cat. #: No19094
Release Date: 19th June 2020
Tracklist:
1. Broken
2. Broken (DJ Sneak Banger Dub)
3. Broken (Mella Dee Shape Up Mix)

London based artist G Flame steps up on No.19 Music for a stellar new single backed with remixes from DJ Sneak and Mella Dee.

G Flame aka Cisco Ferreira, who was one half of The Advent with Mr G, is something of an unheralded legend. He has a rich musical history dating back to London’s House & Techno scene of the nineties which saw him play a key part in the development of the genre, not only as a DJ and producer, but also as a sound engineer working for Larry Heard, Derrick May and Adonis.

Very much a clubber and dancer at heart, Ferreira was tied to Jack Tracks Records and also released on the likes of Tresor while remixing artists such as New Order. His understanding of how house and techno should sound and feel is second to none, and that shines through here with the revived G Flame project, which first started in 1997 and sounds just as essential today.

‘Broken’ is a previously undiscovered gem dug out from G Flame’s vital vault, produced in the mid-nineties, at a time when tech house was just in its infancy and G Flame was pioneering the sound. He calls his style house-techno on account of house being his main vibe, but the tempos tending more towards techno, which makes his tracks perfect weapons for DJs.

The buzzing low frequencies of ‘Broken’ burrow deep into your brain while techno drums and tight, twisted percussion and synths drive home the groove, it’s powerful and original stuff and truly timeless. The first of the two remixes comes from original house gangster and production heavyweight DJ Sneak, who takes things into deeper, hypnotic territory with his superb ‘Banger Dub’. Finally, UK talent and Warehouse Music boss Mella Dee joins the fray with a masterful slice of dubbed out and understated house music in the form of his ‘Shape Up’ mix.

This is a bold, characterful release from G Flame, marking the beginning of his relationship with No.19 and giving a taster of his artist album which is scheduled for release in summer 2020.

Icy vocals add plenty of extra mood and ensure this one makes a real impact. Then comes ‘Eastern Visions’, a track that has deep drums that make a big impact. MYR19 PACKSHOT Juli Lee - Overrated - MYR

Juli Lee ‘Overrated’

Artist: Juli Lee
Title: Overrated
Label: MYR
Cat. #: MYR19
Release Date: 5th June 2020
Tracklist:
01 Daybreak
02 Polisix
03 Overrated
04 Flibbertigibbet
05 As if
06 Deepest Fear

Switzerland’s Juli Lee returns to the MYR label with a new 6 track EP / mini-LP that explores the boundaries of her deep house sound.

Juli Lee has had a passion for electronic music coursing through her veins for as long as she can remember. Growing up in Berne, Switzerland she found her way into the studio, and later the DJ booth, at a young age and ended up a protege of award winning composer and producer Ben Mühlethaler. She has been refining her own take on house music for the last 5 years, releasing music on New York’s legendary King Street label as well as dropping sounds on Symmetric Records, Caballero Records and of course MYR.

Juli’s 2019 ‘Rolling By’ EP, and the ‘Breaking Clouds’ release that proceeded it, were high points for Göran Meyer’s MYR label and garnered support from the likes of Alexi Delano, Nick Warren and Robert Owens. Now she returns with her most expansive release to date, a six-track offering that gives a broad view of her musical palette.

The record opens with the delightfully deep ‘Daybreak’, marrying light piano flourishes with rolling drums and subtle melodic touches to great effect. Next up ‘Polisix’ provides a locked in and understated groove with ethereal spoken word vocals thread through the mix. Title track ‘Overrated’ takes a dubbed out and down low tack, with layers of keys and FX set perfectly against another spoken word offering.

The second half of the EP opens with the interestly titled, ‘Flibbertigibbet’, an old English word for a whimsical or flighty young woman. The track itself is something of a delight, with a slow building groove that weaves an array of synth lines and stabs to deliver a mesmerising listening experience. Penultimate cut, ‘As If’ is a more stripped back and direct affair with a percussive bounce that is hugely engaging. Finally, we have ‘Deepest Fear’, a perfectly balanced and hypnotic closer with a powerful spoken message which brings this most excellent EP to a finish.

In ‘Overrated’ Juli Lee has delivered what is, without a doubt, her most accomplished work to date.

MING, Noble North, Known Unknown and Greater Than Us are all tapped up to remix the latest big tune from Dan McKie. The 1980 label boss is in fine form and now these tunes bring new life to his latest jam. First up, Greater Than Us gets skippy with a garage tinged remix that flaps and snaps about in style. The Known Unknown’s ‘Afterhours Remix’ is a nice smooth cruise through jazzy and deep house, styles that are emotive but still have plenty of compelling drive. MING Serves up the most hard hitting, slamming tech house version with brain numbing bass and itchy hi hats. Lastly, Noble North is in party starting form when he layers in his slamming kicks and big vocal stabs.
