Romanraa ‘Beginning EP’

Artist: Romanraa
Title: Beginning EP
Label: Traum
Cat. #: Traum V244.5
Release Date:  21. August 2020
Tracklist:
1. Save
2. Load
3. Restart

Debut by Romanraa on TRAUM!

When we received the demo we were prepared as always but you cannot be prepared enough since some things turn out different, the demo sent a WOW down. Who is Romanraa from one of the oldest Russian cities Veliky Novgorod?
Till now we know very little about him than that his music is filled with so much optimism and constantly digs out extra euphoria it is just. One can already say Romanraa is a master of blending and fading in sounds, when everyone thought this art had come to an end.

“Save” by Romanraa

The opening track “Save” probably does exactly what the titles conveys, it really helps us to have a good time through a sophisticated elevation.
The track is a crossover of neo disco, techno, melodic house and all goes together enormously well.

“Load” by Romanraa

“Load” starts epic but minimal. Step by step, in an archaic way elements are added and create a dense intense meeting of sounds. Despite the heavy traffic by magic all sounds exist in peace next to each other which is quite astonishing and impressive. The track has a very calming and soothing effect and it could go on forever.
Deep inside one sequence evokes a nostalgic nice acid flair… but maybe it is just us feeling that way.

“Reset” by Romanraa

“Restart” flirts with vintage acid house music, with these immortal funky bass lines that spark off any celebration. But Romanraa would not be Romanraa if he stuck to one genre. He twists the arm of acid house to insert a spellbinding ambient intermezzo. What is nice with this track as well as with the others is that they contain the lightness of the old-school days when music was written to celebrate and be crazy and freak out.

connected061 ARTWORK Re.You - Maison - The Remixes - connected

Re.You ‘Maison – The Remixes’

Artist: Re.You
Title: Maison – The Remixes
Remixer: Santé, Rodriguez Jr., Anja Schneider, Floyd Lavine, Kadosh
Label: connected
Cat. #: connected061
Release Date: July 24th 2020

connected jump-start summer with a fantastic collection of remixes of Marius Maier, aka Re.You’s excellent ‘Maison’ album from May this year. Top contemporary artists who are all close personal DJ friends of Marius all feature to add their own slant and style, including his brother Santé, plus Rodriguez Jr., Anja Schneider, Floyd Lavine, Kadosh and plenty more.

Up first, Cologne natives and underground mainstays AndHim flip ‘Inyani’ ft.Oluhle & Aaaron into a steamy tribal house cut with worldly vocal wails and withering synths that make you want to wiggle. Chief Mobilee artist Rodriguez Jr. then goes for a cosmic minded rework of Relocate ft. Stereo MCs that has subtle but epic breakdowns and frazzled bass building the mood.

Topango then takes ‘Inyani’ and sensitively rebuilds it as a spine-tingling vocal cut with a spiritual atmosphere that is truly unique, and Innervisions and Watergate’s deep and melodic house maestro Kadosh shows off his superb skills on his steamy and mysterious remix of ‘Soft.’ David Mayer lays down some of his fancily heavy but funky drum grooves on a remix of ‘If You’ ft.Elli that will have you skipping along in no time, and Berlin’s tireless creative force Anja Schneider then stands out with her emotive take on ‘Strings Of Joy’ ft. Florian Busse & Ahmad, which has a storytelling lead synth and chunky drums all overlaid with a big-hearted vocal.

Avidus is Marc Wolf and Fritz Wagner, a pair who have turned heads in just two short years thanks to tunes on Crosstown which have been as compelling, sensitive and well crafted as the synth dances that weave into their remix of ‘When I’m Lost’ ft.Elli. Next up, new school Berlin tastemaker Santé remixes ‘Relocate’ ft. Stereo Mc’s into a chunky, stripped-back house groove for cosy basement spaces and South African house hero Floyd Lavine returns to his home label with another vital remix that takes on an elegant and afro tinged trip into stunning house territory. German duo and MoBlack associates Cosmo & Kramer then close out with a ragged, electro-tinged version of Strings Of Joy ft. Florian Busse & Ahmad that will make the club sweat.

These are fantastic new reinterpretations of the excellent source material and all add up to a high-class treasure trove for DJs and dancers alike.

Rising Dutch talents Chris Stussy & Toman reveal their collaborative ‘Timewriter’ EP on new FUSE imprint LOCUS this July.

A leading collective at the forefront of the UK electronic music scene for over a decade, FUSE and label founder Enzo Siragusa continue to set the standard when it comes to releasing consistent and quality underground electronic music alongside hosting stand-out global events which encapsulate the brand’s principles – and 2020 has been no different, revealing a complete refresh to the core label whilst introducing a new project into their family tree. Launched by Siragusa and team to kickstart summer, new label LOCUS’ ethos will welcome material from across the house sphere, uncovering new music from rising talents and showcasing material from leading names alike. Having welcomed emerging Italian talent and Infuse artist KOKO to launch the imprint, the label now welcomes two of Amsterdam’s hottest property as PIV co-owner Chris Stussy and ever-impressing No Art regular Toman combine to offer up their collaborative four-track ‘Timewriter’ EP to open July.

Title cut ‘Timewriter’ opens proceedings in classy fashion as hazy chords and bumping low-ends meet sweeping synths and infectious, filtered vocal hooks, whilst ‘Serendipity’ combines chunky bass licks alongside further delicate vocals and track accents throughout. On the flip, the lively ‘Zerlon’ ups the energy levels and journeys into a hypnotic trip through evolving lead lines and warped electronics, before closing with the wonky, off-kilter programming of ‘Boiling Point’ – a twisting production guided by organic percussion licks atop of cavernous bass hits to offer up an entrancing cut perfect for the after-hours.

Tunnelvisions ‘Picture: Tunnelvisions’

Artist: Tunnelvisions
Title: Picture: Tunnelvisions
Label: Diynamic Music
Cat. #: DIYNAMIC125
Release Date: 15/07
Tracklist:
1) Forever
2) A Thousand
3) Who Are You
4) Tell Me When We’re There
5) Dust Till Dawn
6) Test Tone Control

Diynamic Music is back with another edition of its Picture series with Tunnelvisions at the helm, who have released before on Disco Halal and Atomnation. They have a colourful sound that draws on dub, world and psychedelic influences and now showcase that across six tracks of emotive and melodic house music. Forever kicks off with loose percussion and skyward synths that bring cosmic vibes to the grooves. It is a prickly track that will get hands in the air. A Thousand is a rugged cut with a rasping bassline that is powerful and driving. The rising synths seek to transport you to a higher plane and get lost in a trance. Who Are You is a much more breezy pop dance track with singalong vocals that will be huge at outdoor parties.

Tell Me When We’re There then gets busy on lush arps that ripple and float above a rubbery groover and brim with rich emotions. Dust Till Dawn then blows things up with a brain frying lead synth that adds texture and tension to the fat, bouncing drums below. Last of all, Test Tone Control sinks into a retro synth vibe with vocoder vocals, stiff bass notes and sci-fi signifiers that make for a breezy atmosphere. This is another expansive and expressive instalment of the vital Picture series.

Plus 50 Artists For The 2021 Edition

Will Be Announced

Monegros Festival, which had been due to return at the end of this month after a 5 year hiatus, will still reach their fans this year bringing the majestics of the desert directly to them. Connecting from a virtual dimension, Monegros 2020 will come to life on the 1st August and deliver a full 6 hour live stream from 6 DJs beamed live from the desert.

Paco Osuna, Ilario Alicante, Sama, Andres Campo, Anna and Regal will head deep into Spain’s arid Fraga region to make the first moves for the return of Monegros. Also happening alongside the stream, 50 artists confirmed for next year’s event will be announced ever 8.6 minutes. This year’s event had initially been set to be a tribute to the legendary 1994 first free rave put on by the Arnau family after they had reclaimed the land in a game of poker. The stream will re-set the scene for the return of Monegros, which has now been postponed until 31st July 2021.

Like so many events and gatherings around the world, Monegros 2020 was postponed earlier this year due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. It was a necessary but painful decision, but a crucial one to keep all the Monegros family safe during this crisis.

Over the last six years there has been so much hard work, effort and detail gone into making this year’s event something truly special. However the stream will give a true taster of what’s to come as we look forward to a brighter 2021.

Monegros Festival and August’s live stream is powered by 8.6 Beer, which aptly share the values and ethos of Monegros. Monegros and 8.6 Beer is for those who follow their instinct and are open to the unexpected and for people who stay true to themselve and true to their passions.
