Get Physical and Afro Acid come together for a heavyweight musical selection, as scene godfather DJ Pierre, as well as Chris Liebing, remix a classic track with lyrics written by American giant Roland Clark and produced by Get Physical creative director, Roland Leesker.

This outstanding package will be getting as exclusive Bandcamp only release on Get Physical’s store, with a wider release planned on DJ Pierre’s Afro Acid label in September. The record sees this diverse collection of widely acclaimed and hugely influential artists come together as one for a record that expresses their belief in love and unity.

The release opens with the original, a dark, pulsating tune that straddles the house and techno divide with a bendy bassline, acid stabs and a tribal groove that is finished off with an iconic vocal. The first remix is from long time Chicago giant, Phuture founding member and Wild Pitch creator DJ Pierre. His remix is a big loopy disco jam, with soul bursting out of the colourful grooves, splashes of cymbal and horn and string sounds that get you feeling good. Mute artist and long-time dark techno mainstay Chris Liebing then comes through with a driving remix built on supple drum programming. It grows in stature, becoming ever more unhinged and is sure to blow any dance floor apart for years to come. Then we have DJ Pierre’s iconic Phuture project take the reins with an epic 10 minute plus mix of acid, rolling percussion and building tension. This is a welcome return from Phuture who have plans for a debut album in 2021.

The package is completed with two radio friendly edits from Chris Liebing and DJ Pierre respectively. These are seminal tracks that will always sound vital in any context or era.

Artist: RNDTXTR
Title: Random EP
Label: Rekids
Cat. #: REKIDS163
Format: Vinyl & Digital
Release Date: 11th September 2020
Tracklist:
A1 RND009
B1 RND007 (Dub Mix)
B2 RND004

Enigmatic producer RNDTXTR debuts on Rekids with a deep techno three tracker entitled ‘Random EP’ this September.

“Some tracks just stick with you. They never leave your box, or in this case USB, and I’ve been playing these tracks from RNDTXTR for well over two years. Everywhere from Tokyo to Berlin. These have a universal appeal, being hypnotic and just the right balance between pushy club sounds and spatial melodies” –Radio Slave

Shrouded in murky atmospherics, ‘RND009’ opens the package with rigorous drums, shuffling shakers, sweeping pads and scintillating synths. ‘RND007 (Dub Mix)’ continues with a similar cantering rhythm as various rattling percussive elements work alongside clever automation for a tracky cut designed to lock listeners into a trance. Concluding matters, ‘RND004’ is the wonkiest number on the package with its syncopated groove and otherworldly melody.

Detlef, Latmun ‘Remix The Stars EP’

Artist: Detlef, Latmun
Title : Remix The Stars EP
Remixer: Lorenzo de Blanck, B3ATS, Curt Lopez, Knober
Label: Repopulate Mars
Cat. #: RPM087
Format: Digital
Release Date: 11th September 2020
Tracklist:
01 Detlef – Music Please (Lorenzo de Blanck Remix)
02 Detlef – Music Please (B3ATS Remix)
03 Latmun – High (Curt Lopez Remix)
04 Latmun – High (Knober Remix)

Repopulate Mars drops four new cuts from ‘Remix The Stars’ competition winners Lorenzo de Blanck, B3ATS, Curt Lopez and Knober, who join the label having reimagined cuts by core producers Detlef and Latmun.

In partnership with Hello Demo, the competition began earlier in May and gave budding producers the opportunity to remix Latmun’s ‘High’ and Detlef’s ‘Music Please’: two of the biggest tracks released on Repopulate Mars over the last year which both chartered high on Beatport and garnered considerable support from the BBC.

With its crunchy snare and precision acid licks, Lorenzo de Blanck’s remix of Detlef’s ‘Music Please’ is a low-slung affair complete with a combination of quirky subtleties. It’s a quality production from an artist who’s already released on Hottrax, Saved, Moon Harbour, and ElRow Music. In contrast, the remix from newcomer B3ATS is a tougher rendition courtesy of its powerful kicks and quickened tempo, however things take a plunge into the deep and funky as scintillating synths and uplifting melodies come into effect.

Starting to make waves this year with appearances on Nervous Records, Cr2 and You Do You, Curt Lopez is next with the first of two remixes of Latmun’s ‘High’ featuring a viscous bassline, serene chords and heady guitar licks that come together to form a sultry house cut oozing with soul. Finally, VIVa, Be One and Roush producer Knober’s rhythmic take on the same track heads into another direction with its complicated groove made up of pitter-patter drums and mesmerising use of the original’s vocals.

Jacopo presents that exact raw and hypnotic style of Techno we love so much. Choosing a remixer was an easy task – Patrick Siech, a member of our little label family for many years, was the obvious choice – and unsurprisingly he delivered the goods as always! Title: Van Boven
Format: Digital
Cat. #: FHLR032

Riza Gobelez, one of the most influential representative of techno music in Turkey, joins the FHLR tribe and debuts with “Van Boven”. Riza has released on labels as Intec, Jeton, Codex and Elevate.

‘Clairvoyance’ is a strong opener, on the EP as well as on the dance floor. Fast and pounding, yet with a melodic driving groove. Euphonious pads complete the composition.
‘Van Boven’ reduces the pace, quite a dub techno tune. Great for transitioning or closing the cycle.

Title: Floaters EP
Remixer: Iron Curtis

  2. Floaters (Iron Curtis Remix)

  4. The Unexpected Return

London pair Metropolitan Soul Museum land on Cuore with another of their fully formed EPs, this time with a remix from Iron Curtis.

This London based duo is made up of Nick of Akra, and Filippo, who first linked up in 2015 and have released an array of outstanding records including the standout ‘Tesla’ EP on Toy Tonics. The pair make melodic electronic music which encourages you to dream which has found favour with an array of established names such as Tom Trago, Chaos in the CBD, Detroit Swindle and Roman Fluegel.

This lush new EP kicks off with ‘Floaters’ a deep but heavy track with rich bass and a fine lead melody that takes you on an inward journey. It’s subtle but impactful and filled with style. Iron Curtis is a long time underground talent who releases on cult labels like Smallville and runs Achterbahn D’Amour with his longtime friend Jool aka Edit Piafra. His version on ‘Floaters’ is rock solid, with chunky kicks and scattered claps getting you in a deep state of trance while the delicate vocal sounds pan around the mix next to a rousing lead.

The next brilliant original is ‘Birdland’ which is an intelligent, Detroit inspired track of melodic, rhythmic, syncopated deep techno that really sings. Lastly, ‘The Unexpected Return’ is a hugely atmospheric and beautifully peaceful ambient track with gorgeous synth arps to close out a cultured EP.

When not performing at the likes of Awakenings, Caprices, Tomorrowland and Kappa FuturFestival, the producer has released on leading labels like Ovum, Drumcode and Be As One. Since debuting on Rekids two years ago he’s become a notable fixture on the Berlin-based imprint, dropping numerous releases including his sophomore album, and he returns again now in fine form.

Opening the release in a big way, ‘True Love’ is built on galloping kicks, rattling shakers and a murky bass throb whilst a distorted vocal sings the track title. A cacophony of percussion then joins deep synths in ‘Want Me’ before introducing a powerful diva vox, leading into ‘Safari’ with its bubbling effects, piercing stabs and swinging hats.

An inspired collaboration which delivers more than the sum of its parts.

On the ‘Hoffnungsschimmer’ EP, the colourful tones of Innellea’s synth work and Kevin’s hard-hitting drama are a perfect match, resulting in three diverse and unique creations. ‘Das Licht’ and ‘Mondfinsternis’ are both euphoric, peak-time efforts full of stirring elements and forward motion. The title track’s more downtempo atmosphere and breakbeats balance the EP into a rounded whole.
