Boston 168 ‘Gigantia’

Artist: Boston 168
Title: Gigantia
Label: BPitch
Cat. #: BPX025
Format: 12“ / Digital
Release Date: September 1st

Next up on BPitch is a four-track package of unfiltered techno and impeccable sound design by Turin-based duo Boston 168. Expanding on the sonic palette they’ve explored across three previous EPs on BPitch, as well as a 2019 appearance on the hotly tipped sub label UFO Inc, the duo head for cavernous industrial spaces and vivid psychedelic trips with Gigantia.

Having begun their musical explorations independently, old friends Sergio Pace and Vincenzo Ferramosca began making music together in 2014, birthing what would then become their highly acclaimed moniker of Boston 168 (a nod to the address of their first ever studio). Building a name for themselves from an expansive strain of techno with vast spatialities, the duo’s organic approach to production has guided their musical output ever since. With a penchant for improvisation and a beloved collection of well-used hardware, their sound has carried them through an illustrious career to date, including the running of their own imprint.

Gigantia sees the duo drawing upon the industrial roots of their hometown, merging a range of influences with a distinctly melodic take on acid techno. With a strong affinity for carving sonic spaces, the four-track package is a masterclass in production, with each track exercising careful restraint in its acoustic arrangement. The result is a precisely orchestrated dose of unrelenting dancefloor power, and an authentic nod to the underground spirit that inspired it.

EP opener ‘Hit by the Star’ heads straight to the main floor with a peak time burner of cavernous kick drums, tripped out acid swirls and haunting melodic leads. Following closely behind is ‘Sirio03’, a double dose of psychedelic sonics. In a more melancholic turn, ‘Before Us’ blends emotive melodies with traces of breakbeat to arrive at a moment of dancefloor catharsis. Rounding out the EP is title track ‘Gigantia’, an expansive cut of raw techno for the main room.

Richenel ‘Autumn (Classmatic & Brisotti Remix)’

Artist: Richenel
Title: Autumn (Classmatic & Brisotti Remix)
Label: Organic Pieces
Cat. #: OP006
Format: Digital
Release Date: 28th July 2023

Organic Pieces boss Classmatic links up with Brisotti as the pair combine to remix Richenel’s ‘Autumn’.

After breaking through with material on labels such as Hot Creations, Solid Grooves Raw and Revival New York, Brazilian DJ/producer Classmatic has made serious moves as an artist to know within the global house realm. Recent music on The Martinez Brothers’ Cuttin Headz and two huge remixes of Green Velvet’s iconic ‘Bigger Than Prince’ as part of its 10th Anniversary has seen his stock soar even further, while his burgeoning Organic Pieces imprint is quickly becoming a favourite for many looking for crisp, percussive-heavy and quality productions from both emerging and established names. Linking with fellow Brazilian Brisotti, who also arrives on the up following releases on Hellbent Records, Solid Grooves and Nervous, the pair switch things up as they serve up a bustling remix of Dutch pop sensation Richenel’s 1982 single ‘Autumn’ to close out July – delivering a flip destined for heartfelt dancefloor moments.

Harnessing the original track’s sugary chords and soulful vocals, the pair go to work by layering a slick, precise weave of rolling organic percussion grooves at the base of the production before turning their attention to funky bass licks, groovy melodies and skippy hats for a warm interpretation set to ignite senses of euphoria and pure delight.

Mark Williams ‘Bring You Love EP’

Artist: Mark Williams
Title: Bring You Love EP
Remixer: Ben Sims
Label: Hardgroove
Cat. #: HardgrooveDigi023
Format: Digital
Release Date: 28th July 2023
Tracklist:
01 Bring You Love
02 Bring You Love (Ben Sims Edit)
03 One Night!
04 Rolling Deep
05 We Work It

Legendary UK producer Mark Williams debuts on Ben Sims’ Hardgroove with his first new music in eight years.

The artist, who has previously worked with Sims’ imprints via releases on the now-defunct Ingoma and Theory labels, returns to the fold with the imposing five-track ‘Bring You Love EP” via Hardgroove in late July.

Kicking off with the soul-driven rave energy of ‘Bring You Love’, a track that Ben Sims has funked up and ironed out Hardgroove style with his edit, the ‘Bring You Love EP’ is Williams at his best. ‘One Night!’, a deep but ecstatic electroid pounder, sits in the middle of the release before ‘Rolling Deep’ and ‘We Work It’, two percussive and characterful rollers, close out the EP.

Recently name-checked by Sims as one of the Hardgroove pioneers, William’s Hardgroove EP is a rare release that warrants the ‘highly anticipated’ tag.

Madrid De Los Austrias ‘Remixes’

Artist: Madrid De Los Austrias
Title: Remixes
Label: Stripped Down
Cat. #: STRD028
Format: Digital
Release Date: 22nd July 2023
Tracklist:
1.No Me (Ken Hayakawa Remix)
2. Elele (Jepe Remix)
3. Elele (Jepe ReDub Remix)
4. 25 (Enochson & Grieder Remix)

Stripped Down has curated a superb selection of remixes of the upcoming album by Madrid De Los Austrias. They will come over the course of the year and the first EP features Ken Hayakawa, Jepe and Enochson & Grieder.

Madrid De Los Austrias is an Austrian group that draws inspiration from the historic old town of Madrid. It is made up of Heinz Tronigger and Michael Kreiner, who have been serving up downtempo mixes of Latin, flamenco, dub and future jazz on EPs and albums since 2000 and are back soon with another new long player that blends traditional sounds with contemporary electronics.

Classically trained pianist and label regular Ken Hayakawa is back to follow up his Mute Air/Unity release from April with a classy remix of ‘No Me.’ He draws on his knowledge of melody and minimalism to lock listeners into a trance with soft, ever-shifting synth patterns, jazzy trumpet motifs and deep rolling house drums.

Berlin-based Portuguese talent Jepe serves up two remixes of ‘Elele’, following on from standout tracks on labels like Sinchi Music and Diynamic. The first is a fantastic house cut with thudding drums and twitchy electronics as a Spanish vocal brings some fire and flair up top. The second is a ReDub that chops away the vocal and layers in starry-eyed melodies before molten acid creeps into the mix.

Last of all come Swedish techno talent Marcus Enochson and Stephan Grieder, veterans of the scene who are still pushing forward here as Enochson & Grieder. Their remix of ’25’ is a slow-burning one with scuffed drum loops and synth modulations that speak of alien life forms while steamy vocal whispers further captivate the mind as the grooves roll on.

This package subtly reworks the original material into deep, forward-thinking dance floor sounds.

gleb filipchenkow & Alexey Union feat. Remo

Artist: gleb filipchenkow & Alexey Union feat. Remo
Title: Infancy EP
Label: Kindisch
Cat. #: KD227
Format: Digital
Release Date: 1st September 2023
Tracklist:
01 gleb filipchenkow & Alexey Union feat. Remo – Weak
02 gleb filipchenkow & Alexey Union feat. Remo – High

gleb filipchenkow & Alexey Union come together with featured vocalist Remo for two classy new house cuts on Kindisch.

gleb filipchenkow is a Russian artist who frequently collaborates with others and always cooks up enthralling house grooves on labels like The Basement Discos, Secret Fusion and VOD. For this one, he works with countryman Alexey Union, a DJ, composer and musician who makes sounds for mind, body and soul and has done for almost a decade.

Remo is the featured guest on both of these excellent tracks, starting with ‘Weak.’ There’s a humid Afro-house feel to its deep rolling drums and late-night synth charm. The whispered vocal is delicate and soulful as it floats next to soft sax lines and wispy melodies. ‘High’ is a little more direct with busy percussive chatter and more tense vocals that rise up above the sustained chords. It’s still an intimate track but one that builds the mood on the dance floor to more energetic levels.

ONIRIS ‘Stay’

Artist: ONIRIS
Title: Stay
Remixer: Josh Wink
Label: Break New Soil
Cat. #: BNS086
Release Date: 18.08.2023
Tracklist:
A1: Oniris – Stay (Josh Wink Remix)
A2: Oniris – Wild Thing
B1: Oniris – Stay (Original)
B2: Oniris – Stay (Josh Wink Acid Dub)

If you look at the artist line up of our new release, a press info is actually pretty obsolete, but I thought I´d write a few words anyway. Oniris from the south of France is really on the rise with his latest music on Laurent’s Cod3QR and upcoming music on Bedrock or Systematic and when I got in touch with him to talk about releasing on Break New Soil, he sent „Stay“ and „Wild Thing“ – I was sold instantly! When thinking of adding a remix, I contacted my good old friend Josh Wink to see if he would be up for it and I honestly couldn´t be more blown away by the result. Josh’s rework is a no-nonsense Techno anthem that surprises on first listen while leaving no doubt that it´s a trademark Wink production with his subtle and sophisticated beat stunts and impeccable sound profile. Additionally Josh delivered an Acid Version plus a dub mix! We think this is one of the biggest releases on our label ever and can’t wait for you to check it out.
