UK artist Rene Wise is back on Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver label this June with the ‘Lakota Fox’ EP.

Andrew Shobeiri, aka Rene Wise, possesses an uncanny ability to create a sound that fuses hip-shaking grooves with a raw but modern touch. With a fine ear for infectious rhythm derived from a love of classic 90’s era techno, Wise breeds a deep sense of knowledge and maturity beyond what you’d expect for an artist of his age. A digital EP on Mark Broom’s Beardman imprint and a debut 12’-inch release on Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver imprint laid the foundations for his musical journey. Wise has continued to showcase his artistic abilities with a consistent run of releases in 2021, including a split EP with techno heavyweight Rodhad on WSNWG and a solo EP on Setaoc Mass’ imprint SK_eleven. The ‘Lakota Fox’ EP now sees Rene Wise return to Mote-Evolver as he displays his flair for producing dynamic techno rollers and spectral soundscapes.

‘Raptor’ kicks off the EP with menacing grooves, enrapturing fx and fluttering synths that fluidly unite with one another before icy yet shrilling pads, shimmering drums with hypnotic bass meandering underneath sets the tone for ‘Marbles’. Up next, title track ‘Lakota Fox’ masterfully explores deeper techno territories as the mesmeric rhythms, shadowy pulsations, and moody reverb create a trance-inducing atmosphere throughout.

‘Hand Tap’ makes way for skeletal bleeps, psychedelic undertones and tension-building minimalism that effortlessly entices you until ‘Truffles’ rounds off this impressive techno five-tracker with spiralling synths that fuse with reverberating low frequencies and bumpy kicks exquisitely.

Various ‘EPM20 – EP 3’

Artist: Various
Title: EPM20 – EP 3
Label: EPMmusic
Cat. #: EPM23V / EPM92D
Format: Vinyl / Digital
Release Date: 30 July 2021
Tracklist:
1. Eddie Fowlkes – 1-2-3
2. Jon Dixon – Mack & Bewick
3. DJ 3000 – Summer 1995
4. Rico & Sonny – The Beat

To mark EPM’s 20th anniversary we’ve been releasing a series of EPs, each one focussing on a different genre. In May we brought you a taste of Techno with Robert Hood, Ben Sims, James Ruskin and Mark Broom each delivering their distinct production skills, while June sees the release of our second EP bringing together cuts by some of Electro’s leading lights – The Advent & Zein Ferreira, Carl Finlow, Detroit’s Filthiest and Modulator (a.k.a. Freddie Fresh).

For the third and final EP in the series we turn our attention to House music, and once again we’ve commissioned four brand new and exclusive tracks from artists who we’ve had the pleasure to work with over the years.

First up is none other than a Detroit Techno founding father and the TechnoSoul innovator himself Eddie Fowlkes, who delivers a classy opener in ‘1-2-3’ that’s deep yet vibrant and showcases his legendary status. Next is a fellow Motor City modernizer, Jon Dixon whose musicianship and productive talent takes him from jazz to techno which he skilfully brings to ‘Mack & Bewick’. Motech Records’ founder DJ 3000 brings us the spirit of ‘Summer 1995’ as he briefly steps away from techno to give us this uplifting sun-drenched stunner. Final track ‘The Beat’ comes from Rico & Sonny, the pseudonym of Chicago based DJ duo and production team of Adam Stolz and the talented Tim Baker, recorded before his devastating and untimely passing. His music lives on and we’d like to dedicate this EP to him.

The ‘EPM20’ compilation which features all the tracks from the EPs plus additional cuts from a host of other artists and EPM friends will follow after the summer.

Pyramid Amnesia 2021 Closing Party

Pyramid Announces Huge 2021 Closing Party
Terraza
Ricardo Villalobos & Luciano, KiNK (live), Mar-T
Club
Nina Kraviz, Dax J, Anetha and Luca Donzelli
As Ibiza is added to the safe travel list, Amnesia continues to announce its much anticipated season in reverse. Next up is Pyramid’s sure-to-be historic 2021 closing party on Sunday, October 10th. This always legendary event will be headlined on the Terraza by firm favourites Ricardo Villalobos & Luciano, KiNK (live), Mar-T, and in the Club by Nina Kraviz, Dax J, Anetha and Luca Donzelli. Despite the current pandemic, Amnesia has worked hard to pull together two rooms of the world’s most elite DJing stars. This Pyramid closing party is proof of that, but there is much more to come in August, September and October.
In just a few short years, Pyramid has shaken up the Ibiza landscape. The Monday night party moved to Sundays in 2020 with some mega line-ups that sadly never came to be. But before that, it had already recaptured some of the island’s early glory days with a focus on the music first and foremost. At Pyramid, people are there to dance until the sun comes up and beyond. The night is synonymous with only the most globally acclaimed DJs and loved for its mind-blowing production. Each party is a sensory explosion with cutting-edge technology, organic materials and immersive audiovisuals that truly offer something unique. After too long away because of the pandemic, this closing show is sure to be a celebration like no other.
Fittingly, then, the world’s most iconic DJs will headline the famous Terraza. Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano have already sold out their show at Cova Santa, and are official Pyramid ambassadors. They will play together for a set of mind-warping techno that will show off the dexterous DJ skills and unpredictable selections that have made them real Pyramid favourites. Joining them is Bulgarian live wizard KiNK, who cooks up electrifying sets of impromptu techno on his vast array of synths and drum machines. It is one of dance music’s most amazing spectacles and cannot be missed. Lastly comes Mar-T, the long-time Amnesia resident, a DJ who knows the club’s crowds and sounds inside out, and who never fails to amaze.
In the Club is new school techno queen Nina Kraviz. The DJ, producer and Trip label boss has innovated the techno world in recent years and can do anything from deep, pulsing, acid-laced rollers to raved-up sounds that leave the dance floor in awe. Dax J is a London-born, Berlin-based artist who is the quintessential DJ in every sense. The Monnom Black label boss has a famously raw and individual take on techno that never lets up. Meanwhile, Anetha is a Parisian techno mainstay and Blocaus resident who has risen to the top with her forward thinking sounds. Lastly, Italian Luca Donzell is of course the second Amnesia resident known the world over for lighting up the world-famous super club with his storytelling sets of house and techno.
The Pyramid closing party is one of the real must-attend events in Ibiza. After the 18 months everyone has had, this one is set to be even more special than ever before.

TRICK031_3000x3000

Ewan McVicar ‘Tell Me Something Good’

Artist: Ewan McVicar
Title: Tell Me Something Good
Label: Trick
Cat. # : TRICK031
Format: Digital
Release Date: 25th June 2021
Tracklist:
01 Tell Me Something Good
02 Delta

Ewan McVicar returns to Patrick Topping’s Trick with the upbeat ‘Tell Me Something Good’ this June.

Following releases on Shall Not Fade, Nervous, and his ‘Street Rave EP’ on Trick in 2020 as well as a pair of remixes on the label earlier this year, DJ Mag ‘Best Breakthrough Act’ nominee and Radio 1 favourite Ewan McVicar returns to Patrick Topping’s imprint with a two-track EP of summer-tinged smash hits.

‘Tell Me Something Good’ sees the Scottish DJ/producer cover Rufus & Chaka Khan’s 70s jam of the same name, twisting catchy vocals and huge synth stabs into an ecstatic peak time club weapon. ‘Delta’ brings the tempo down, but keeps the energy levels high as piano chords drift effortlessly across a chugging breakbeat and rolling basslines, making for a feel-good closing track to another standout release from Trick.

VINILE3_3000X3000

Nnatn & DJ Beens ‘Red Gipsy’

Artist: Nnatn & DJ Beens
Title: Red Gipsy
Label: Night Vibez Records
Cat. #: NVBZ015
Release Date: 25.06.2021
Tracklist:
01 Red Gipsy
02 Butterfly

Italian pair Nnatn & DJ Beens bring a wealth of experience to two brilliantly emotive new house tracks on Night Vibez Records.

Nnatn has been producing since 2015 and quickly earned a reputation for his unique take on house on labels like Roasted Records and Pogo House. Fellow Italian and 90s kid DJ Beens also explores every facet of the genre from deep to tech to melodic. With their eclectic sound this pair has picked up support from a diverse array of DJs including Jamie Jones, Marco Carola and Paco Osuna.

Opener ‘Red Gipsy’ is a super cool and breezy house groove with subtle acid twitches and icy percussion. A sensuous vocal keeps things full of warmth and as the smooth drums and claps race on you cannot fail to get swept up in the rhythm. The fantastic ‘Butterfly’ is a huge piano anthem with plenty of throwback energy but modern production techniques. A diva vocal brings the soul next to well-swung drums. The lush stabs get hands in the air and the fat bass will detonate any set.

These are two timeless house tracks suited to any and all dancefloors.

REKIDS182_NoText

Mark Broom ‘Fast Fünfzig EP’

Artist: Mark Broom
Title: Fast Fünfzig EP
Label: Rekids
Cat. #: REKIDS182
Format: Digital / Vinyl
Release Date: 18th June 2021
Tracklist:
A1. Fingers
A2. Slow
B1. Wild Style
B2. Facteur

UK techno legend Mark Broom announces his ‘Fast Fünfzig EP’ for Radio Slave’s Rekids this June, ahead of a full LP for the label in July.

Mark Broom’s mammoth discography shows an artist who has put in the hours, boasting appearances on legendary imprints such as Robert Hood’s M-Plant, Warp Records, Pure Plastic, Bpitch Control, and of course Rekids. Alongside his solo work, his collaborations are an equal tour-de-force, with groups such as The Fear Ratio with James Ruskin counted as fan favourites.

Here though, Broom takes the reigns solo, drawing on decades worth of experience for a 12” of mind-altering cuts for one of electronic music’s most vital labels. Lead track ‘Fingers’ sees the British DJ/producer toying with rubbery basslines, glistening pads, and chunky percussion to deliver an irresistibly buoyant house track. ‘Slow’ follows suit, bringing another dose of deep low end next to eerie leads and shining synthesis.

On the flip, Broom enters electro-tinged territory on ‘Wild Style’, tying unruly machines together with vocal chops over a staggered, off-kilter drum pattern. Taking the B2 spot, ‘Facteur’ sees a reflective touch to the EP as emotive progressions unfurl under robust, mechanical hits, providing a cohesive and captivating taste of the LP to follow in July.

Release Date: 18th June 2021

Sam Holland steps out on Revival New York as he reveals his two-track ‘Genesis’ EP.

A new name for many in 2020, yet an artist already on the lips of the world’s leading tastemakers, including BBC Radio 1’s Pete Tong and Danny Howard, Sam Holland is quickly forging his position as an artist of note as he lays his foundations as a solo artist. Previously featuring as one half of duo Senzala, his young yet impressive solo career has already welcomed material via Hot Since 82’s Knee Deep In Sound, Melé’s Club Bad, and Richy Ahmed’s Four Thirty Two, with mid-June seeing the bubbling London-based DJ/producer cross the pond as he reveals his ‘Genesis’ EP via Revival New York.

Scan 7 ‘Out of Nowhere’

Artist: Scan 7
Title: Out of Nowhere
Label: Transient Nature
Cat. #: TN002
Format: Digital
Release Date: 17th June 2021
Tracklist:
1. Toxicity
2. Unfinished Bizness
3. Tronix
4. From that Place

Detroit’s Scan 7 deliver ‘Out Of Nowhere’ on Wanderist’s Transient Nature imprint this June.

The four-track EP sees the Underground Resistance affiliates further cement their relationship with Wanderist aka Maarten Smeets of Dam Swindle, after first landing on the latter’s Heist imprint in 2020.

‘Toxicity’ masterfully opens the package with twisting fx that spiral around the bleeping synths and zig-zagging grooves before retro-futurist electro cut ‘Unfinished Bizness’ lays down funk-infused melodies, spaced-out fx and sultry pads that sit gracefully underneath. On the flip, sleek roller ‘Tronix’ places focus on murky grooves, skittering 303s and a zipping bassline until ‘From that Place’ rounds off with silky, acid-flecked stabs and glistening percussion, offering up a fittingly timeless yet visionary approach to modern electro.

Real and raw from the Motor City, Scan 7 began making a name for themselves back in 1992. Lead by the first original member Lou Robinson (aka Trackmasta Lou) and Mr Hooper; Scan 7 became the enigmatic, masked pioneers of techno who kept their faces hidden while performing. Scan 7 have canvassed the word of techno worldwide, working with renowned labels such as Underground Resistance, Tresor, Elypsia, BTRAX, Wallshaker Muzik, F Communications, KMS and DETROIT UNDERGROUND.

Transient Nature is a label dedicated to the world of machine funk with a sonic aesthetic of off-kilter techno, electro, and everything in between.
