The singles are followed by remixes from Third Attempt and Johan Kaseta. ‘Omar Coming’ is a straight-up slapping Deep House. A looping low-slung house roller charged with influences from soul absorbed by the midnight air. Deep goodness that rolls and rolls into the post-sunset fade of the evening sky. Watch out – Omar comin’! Next to it is the tender ‘Back in the Day’. Drenched in blue-toned textures, vocals rub up against crisp drum loops, luscious melodies and whirling deepness. The steady rolling continues with Third Attempt’s remix of ́Back in the Day’. A distinctive take on Norwegian Electronica that radiates across five minutes of late-night grooves. Spacious Röyksopp vibes all over the place! Completing the EP with John Kaseta’s re-rub of ‘Omar Coming’. An experimental excursion into the sonics of the original track carefully woven together into a hypnotic trip of drum loops and sounds that chime and shimmers.

Kamuflars ‘The Things That Swings’

Artist: Kamuflars
Title: The Things That Swings
Label: Mhost Likely Green/Jungelen
Cat. #: MHLGRN033
Format: Digital
Release Date: 22nd October 2021
Tracklist:
1. Kveldsol
2. The Things That Swings
3. Kveldsol (Telephones MOLO Sunrise Remix)
4. The Things That Swings (Tom Manzarek Dub Remix)

Norweigan producer and now farmer Kamuflars continues his fine run of form with two bouncing Balearic dub house cuts on Mhost Likely Green and Jungelen. Remixes from Tom Manzarek and Telephones complete this vital package.

Kamuflars is the Jungelen label and party resident known for his eclectic electronic sounds. He makes a distinctive brand of Norwegian funk that has won him plenty of acclaim in the European press. Whilst the fast-rising artist’s last release on Mhost Likely took a more experimental broken beat approach, this new EP has you jumping in no time.

The skippy and bright beats, heavy basslines and luscious synth patterns of excellent opener ‘Kveldsol’ (which translates to evening sun) invite you on a tipsy trip to the beach at sundown. Next to that is the deliciously dub-heavy ‘The Things That Swings’ which does just what it says on the tin with luminous synth work adding to the bouncy yet dreamy atmosphere.

Berlin-based Norwegian and cult producer Telephones’s remix of ‘Kveldsol’ is perfectly breezy for the early morning hours. He has re-recorded some of the 606-drums and added Balearic elements through live recordings. As he perfectly describes it: “Pseudo-Balearic, Strictly Rhythm, after-hours party-vibes. Evening sun on Fløyen and view from the Sotra bridge with sea gust in the hair”. Finishing off is Plaisance Records man and South of France dub don Tom Manzarek. His Dub Remix of ‘Things That Swings’ is another of his superbly downtempo soundscapes complete with Zouk-inspired sounds.

This is another hugely charismatic selection of sounds from Mhost Likely Green and Jungelen.

Regis ‘Beyond The Reach Of Time EP’

Artist: Regis
Title: Beyond The Reach Of Time EP
Label: EPMmusic
Cat. #: EPM24V / EPM94
Format: vinyl / digital
Release Date: 12 November 2021
Tracklist:
A1. Regis – No Love From Above
A2. Regis – At The Side Of Silence
AA1. Regis – Beyond The Reach Of Time PT 2

Wrapping up our 20th year in fine style EPM are delighted to reveal the release of ‘Beyond the Reach of Time’, the surprise 4th instalment of our EPM20 vinyl series from UK techno master, Regis.

Karl O’Connor (aka Regis) has remained a maverick and iconic figure on the global techno stage, ever since his ‘Montreal’ EP burned his name across the world’s dancefloors some 25 years ago. His unconventional and single-minded label, Downwards, often shrouded by mythology, has also helped to launch fellow protagonist Surgeon as one of techno’s most revered DJ/producers.

Never one to tread the easy path, O’Connor alongside known projects such as British Murder Boys (with Surgeon), O/V/R with James Ruskin and Sandwell District alongside Function and Silent Servant has more recently collaborated with artists such as Ann Margaret Hogan (piano) and Justin K. Broadrick on guitar (previously of Godflesh) for a one-off concert performed live in the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, Argolis, Greece as well as releasing last year’s stunning new album ‘In This Is The Light That You Miss’ on Downwards. In his continuous search to side-step convention, he remains one of the more highly regarded creative forces within the British techno/electronic scene.

The genesis of the tracks on ‘Beyond the Reach of Time’ go way back to 1999 and thanks to various internet leaks have, over the following years, added to the mystique that surrounds them and the artist. Recorded in a period when O’Connor was putting tracks together for both an album on Tresor and an anonymous shortly-lived house label called Housework, these tracks seemed to fit neither the hard-edged Regis sound of the time nor the Housework style and simply slipped through the cracks.

Now over 20 years after their creation we are proud to give these long-lost Regis tracks the official release they deserve. The EP opens with the thumping yet muted tribalism of ‘No Love From Above’ whereby O’Connor approaches the dancefloor with malevolent restraint before ‘At the Side of Silence’ fuses this approach with the chord motif that runs through the beating heart of this release.

Rolling in at just under 13 minutes the closing ‘Beyond the Reach of Time Pt.2’ is epic in both scale and sound, its synth drenched chords taking it closer to Motor City emotionalism than anything O’Connor has committed to wax. Its sister piece ‘Beyond the Reach of Time Pt.1’ can also be found on ‘EPM20’, the 21-track digital compilation marking EPM’s 20th Year.

Radio Slave ‘Acid Dip’

Artist: Radio Slave
Title: Acid Dip
Label: Rekids
Cat. #: REKIDS189
Format: Vinyl / Digital
Release Date: 15th October
Tracklist:
A. Acid Dip
AA. Armani

Radio Slave returns to his Rekids imprint this October with the perfectly balanced ‘Acid Dip’ single.

The titular track on ‘Acid Dip’ sees Matt ‘Radio Slave’ Edwards in particularly strident form. Riding a broken, stuttered-kick rhythm, ‘Acid Dip’ is a jabbing, insistent slice of UK techno shot through with hardcore and, whilst not skimping on raw power, still maintains the hypnotic nature that inhabits much of Edwards’ work.

On the flip, ‘Armani’ takes off down a dubbed-out, futuristic Italo-infused house workout that, throughout its eleven minutes 28-second span, shows a more dense, layered side to Radio Slave production.

Another triumph of a single from one of modern electronic music’s most consistent talents, Radio Slave’s ‘Acid Dip’, is released 15th October via Rekids.
