Elliot Adamson ‘Kids Love Acid House’

Artist: Elliot Adamson
Title: Kids Love Acid House
Label: Trick
Cat. #: TRICK040
Format: Digital
Release Date: 26th November
Tracklist:
01 Kids Love Acid House
02 I Wanna See U Move
03 Like It Is
04 Don’t Be Too Polite

Elliot Adamson returns to Patrick Topping’s Trick this November with ‘Kids Love Acid House’.

Following 2020’s ‘Send It EP’ with Justin Jay and a remix of Mura’s ‘Check It’ earlier this year on Trick, as well as a myriad of EPs released under his Another Chemical Love Story alias, the UK-based DJ/producer returns to Topping’s imprint with ‘Kids Love Acid House’, a four-track EP of raved-up house tracks.

Title track ‘Kids Love Acid House’ leads the release with a combination of ravey stabs, piercing leads, and tripped-out samples before ‘I Wanna See U Move’ follows suit with rumbling low-end, wonky vocals, and psychedelic breakdowns. ‘Like It Is’ sees crunchy, Roulé-esque loops colliding with pounding drums before ‘Don’t Be Too Polite’ closes out the EP. Initially dropped by Adamson at Mint Festival in 2019, the track makes liberal use of frantic sampling and rocking drums for an oddball, peak-time cut.

“Kids love acid house and I do too” – Elliot Adamson.

Traum-V260

Arnodd ‘Piano’

Artist: Arnodd
Title: Piano
Label: Traum
Cat. #: Traum V260
Release Date:17. December 2021

The concept of the release was to create one track that goes towards 20 minutes.

Arnodd (formerly known as Øyvind) has created an epic track here with different stages, noticeable moody stages. Starting with a piano piece that shows his enormous skill to express emotional music which then directly leads to an acoustic 3D sound FX experience of excellence. This abruptly jumps in to a funky affair, a grotesquely stunning one, which comes to a sudden halt to introduce an almost dubby episode and then melts into a soundtrack with wailing sounds that expands in a way we already witnessed in his two fantastic EP releases on Traum in 2020 and 2021: “Aviation EP” and “Monsoon EP”.

Witness Arnodd’s wonderful voyage with this special project we are releasing in the perfect time for listening to music: Christmas time!

PACKSHOT Brian Johnson - That Culture Remixes - Master Chef Music

Brian Johnson ‘That Culture Remixes’

Artist: Brian Johnson
Title: That Culture Remixes
Label: Master Chef Music
Cat. #: MCM-003
Format: Digital
Release Date: 19th November 2021
Tracklist:
1. Sound Test (Kenny Glasgow Logansix Remix)
2. State Property (Pheek Remix)
3. Round & Round ft. Renee Wynter (Organic Life Extended Remix)
4. Round & Round ft. Renee Wynter (Organic Radio Edit)
5. Sound Test (Original)
6. State Property (Original)
7. Round & Round ft. Renee Wynter (Original)

Master Chef Music’s latest serving is a bumper collection of tracks from label founder Brian Johnson with remixes from Kenny Glasgow and Pheek.

Born in Toronto to parents of Jamaican descent, Brian Johnson worked his way up the local scene and was soon hosting and headlining parties and even running his own recording facility. He has since produced, recorded, mixed and mastered thousands of tracks for artists such as Mos Def, Barrington Levy and Drake. His own music is a personal mix of deep house, dub and techno with a new and distinctive edge, as showcased on the essential tracks on this new EP.

Canadian star Kenny Glasgow opens the package with one of his trademark remixes. The man who has spent 20 plus years immersed in the North American underground is best known as one half of Art Department and has released on the likes of No.19 Music and Strictly Rhythm. His remix of ‘Sound Test’ is a bold, tight house track with popping kicks and plenty of skewed techno synths. It’s a peak time cut that twists and turns on roaming bass and brings plenty of energy to the floor. Next up is Pheek, the Montreal producer who runs Archipel Musique and is known for his originality in minimal techno. He expertly remixes ‘State Property’ into a deep, late-night and atmospheric roller with sci-fi pads and silky hi-hats.

Johnson’s ‘Round & Round’ ft. Renee Wynter (Organic Life Extended Remix) is a lush and blissed-out deep house groove. Organic piano chords are draped over the smooth beats and Renee’s soulful vocals drift alluringly up top. ‘Sound Test’ is a darker and more mysterious track for back rooms in the dead of night. The eerie chords are sparse and the drums minimal yet hypnotic. Switching it up again, ‘State Property’ is a brilliantly shadowy deep techno track. It has widescreen synth work and plenty of deft details to make for a cinematic sound. Last of all comes the original version of ‘Round & Round’ ft. Renee Wynter, a unique track with the soulful vocals swirling throughout the mix as tense synths build over rolling, dubby drums.

‘That Culture Remixes’ is a dynamic package of irresistible club tracks.

PACKSHOT Kajunga

Private Guy ‘Liquid Sun’

Artist: Private Guy
Title: Liquid Sun
Label: Kajunga
Cat. #: KAJUNGA008
Format: Digital, vinyl
Release Date: 16th November 2021
Tracklist:
1. Lovely Trees
2. Liquid Sun
3. Zipperworld
4. Animals At Play
5. Phase 2: Memories

Kajunga Records co-founder Private Guy steps up with his first-ever solo EP on the label.

As his alias suggests, Minneapolis-based Private Guy likes to keep himself to himself. What is known is that the visual artist, ceramicist, DJ and producer takes musical cues from old school Detroit and Chicago house. He offers a unique take on those familiar sounds using syncopated rhythms and an endless delta of melodies. After contributing to two various artist releases since 2015, this marks Private Guy’s first full solo outing, and the five emotive tracks all add up to one great story.

The brilliant title track introduces the EP with a soft twinkle and a classy deep house groove. Lush melodies and an upbeat bassline lead you through rich chords while spacey reverberations zone you out perfectly. ‘Zipperworld’ is a superb psychedelic journey with more elegant chords and melodious sequences rich in cosmic energy. The track builds to a point of subtle euphoria that cannot fail to overwhelm the dance floor. Showing he has plenty of range, ‘Animals At Play’ then crosses over into a dark, hip-hop-influenced universe with sparse 808 drums and lone bell sounds. It is beautifully eerie and captivating. Last of all, ‘Phase 2: Memories’ closes down with late-night basement juke beats and a twist of contemporary percussion.

Liquid Sun is a superb debut EP that is sure to bring Private Guy plenty of new plaudits.
