2019’s U Can’t Stop Me EP was one of our most popular to date, resonating with artists as diverse as Danny Tenaglia, Stacey Pullen, Davide Squillace, Luigi Madonna & Slam, as well as a broader spectrum including Cristian Varela, Moodymanc, Audiojack, Michel De Hey, Gregor Size & Anderson Noise.

During the pandemic we split our extra time between new studio endeavours and investing in the profile of the label with a plan to return as triumphant as possible, resulting in a raft of releases that we’re immensely proud to start presenting over the next 18 months, the first of which we see here.

In Barem we bring one of the original crop of artists that broke during the burgeoning days of Minus Records, his fresh sound bringing an organic House Music swing to the whole “Minimal Thing” with consistently tight, refined productions aimed firmly at the dancefloor, often utilising the “Less Is More” ethos, enhancing his grooves for the big systems while also keeping his tracks rich and interesting with subtle interweaving layers.
Simon Baker’s early productions displayed a discerning ear beguiling his fledgling status, so it certainly came as no great surprise to see his steady rise to prominence, leaving us reflecting upon a catalogue attributed to one of the most consistent House Music exports from the UK in recent years, with releases seeing light on leading underground labels including Get Physical, Pokerflat, Cocoon, Kompakt, 2020 Vision, Rekids and many, many more.

Label owner Iain Taylor helps round things off courtesy of a chunky, almost haunting main room melodic re-imagination before original release artists Alex Nemec & Nik Feral play us out with a deeper “heads down” rework of the 2019 track Ultra, stripping it back and accentuating the acidic elements to turn what was already a no nonsense deep Techno groove into a rolling hypnotic monster.
To complete the digital exclusives, we revert back to the continuing hunt for fresh, exciting producers and the new sounds they represent, taking us this time to the land of cheese & chocolate with Swiss crew Kritikel Audio Techniques (K.A.T) delivering 2 “bang on the money” mixes with absolutely no whiff of cheese. The smooth musical chocolate is the work of 3 producers hailing from Zurich, having grown up surrounded by the deep and dreamy House & Techno synonymous with “The Zurich Sound” they form part of a new wave of artists, drawing on inspirations from further afield to fuse with their rich musical heritage creating 2 very cool cuts that skirt the sounds of Micro House and Minimal Techno.

The next release, scheduled for 24 January 2022, is the result of a long artistic reflection based on the dreams of Alexander Coetzee, alias LEEU, DJ and producer from Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Dream Control album is an introspective musical masterpiece about the universal mystery that every human being lives through, their dreams. To those moments when you cannot decide if it is infact a dream or reality and the freedom one feels when lucid dreaming. Divided into 3 chapters, this album approaches by a first EP the paradoxical dream, then by second EP the waking dream and finally by a complete reading through an album to be released on March 1, 2022.

For this 2nd chapter, LEEU was surrounded by artists from South Africa including Lemonella, a poetess with a melancholy and acidulous tone, and Eric Volta, a multiinstrumentalist & producer from Berlin.

This album will be the subject of a double album vinyl release and a summer live tour in Europe in 2022 !

Dorian Craft follows up his fine remix on connected with a first full outing on the label featuring vocalist Jono McCleery and remixer Armonica.

Craft is known for mixing up ethnic and melodic sounds with heavy afro influences. He has done so on labels like Monaberry, Radiant and Madorasindahouse, all the while making his way into the record bags of tastemakers such as Black Coffee and Super Flu. For this release, he teamed up with vocalist and lyricist Jono McCleery, who has released a string of albums on Ninja Tune’s Counter Records and contributed to Catz n Dogs’ & Adriatique tunes.

The sublime ‘All Of My Words’ started as a combination of acoustic guitar and electronic sounds and then expanded with Jono’s deeply emotional vocals. The result is a mesmerising spiritual journey with an almost Santana-style aura and languid grooves that sweep you off your feet. Armonica is an Italian duo who made their name as the residents at the legendary Cocorico club. Their innovative rework takes things to another level, with a prominent melody replacing the acoustic guitar. Other synth growls and building drums make for a genuinely potent record.

Closing out the journey is ‘Abbadia,’ a fresh instrumental with a strong groove. Embellished with shakers, moody thematic chords and a haunting synth top line, it’s sure to cast a fine spell on any crowd.

With this full connected debut, Craft showcases his well-formed signature sound.

Booka Shade revisit their 2004 track ‘Vertigo’ as they unveil a fresh 2021 reinterpretation alongside Dapyk & Padberg, plus new remixes from Animal Trainer and Dapayk.

Originally released as the opening track of their 2004 album ‘Memento’, Booka Shade’s slow-blooming and eerie ‘Vertigo’ often features as an under-the-radar Get Physical favourite for many. Marking the 100th release of their Blaufield Music imprint, the pair now brings the track into the spotlight once again as they partner alongside Dapayk & Padberg to offer a fresh take on the production while also turning in a fresh remaster and remixes from Dapayk and Animal Trainer.

Building on the original’s ghostly and ethereal dynamics, Vertigo (Living Without You) welcomes the addition of fresh vocals from Dapayk and Padberg, accenting the track’s resonant melodies and injecting a new life to the production. Up next, Animal Trainer’s remix brings sweeping synths, rolling organic drums and shimmering hats, while Dapayk’s interpretation focuses on the bass to showcase a low-slung, chugging effort. To close, the duo delivers their 2021 remaster of ‘Vertigo’ – maintaining the well-loved space and haunting feel while welcoming warm tones and rich soundscapes.

Venezuela’s Confidential Recipe drops ‘The Bridge EP’ on Radio Slave’s Rekids this December.

Following two stand-out EPs on the techno-focussed Rekids Special Projects throughout 2021, the Venezuelan-born, Bogota-based Confidential Recipe readies his debut appearance on parent-label Rekids. With three killer originals, including a collaboration with Manao and accompanied by a remix from Gene Richards Jr, the EP solidifies Confidential Recipe’s growing vitality in the South American techno scene and beyond.

‘Dance’ leads the ‘The Bridge EP’, with commanding vocals, organ licks and knocking drums preceding a dramatic tempo change in the breakdown. Fresh off the back of releases Truncate’s WRKTRX, Gene Richards Jr flips ‘Dance’ into a funk-laden techno pumper, with the vocals sliced and manipulated around fresh dub techno inspired chords.

On the flip, ‘Come (Dub Mix)’ kicks off the B side, marrying shimmering pads, razor-sharp kicks, and trance-inducing low end for a deep and rolling cut. Rounding out the EP is ‘Come (Breaks Mix)’ produced in collaboration with Berlin-based Manao, and sees the duo add dense breakbeats, rave stabs, and heaving sub hits over elements of the original for a rowdy affair.

Hertz Collision & Gene Richards Jr land on Chris Liebing’s legendary CLR with ‘Must Do It EP’.

Previously collaborating on Truncate’s self-titled imprint for 2021’s ‘Hood Thang EP’, Hertz Collision & Gene Richards Jr join forces again for ‘Must Do It EP’. Arriving on Chris Liebing’s influential and recently relaunched CLR imprint, the EP showcases the duo’s knack for crafting raw, speaker-rattling techno and features a remix from Truncate.

Leading the release, title track ‘Must Do It’ is a dynamic, no-nonsense techno jam, complete with hyped vocals and sizzling percussion. Fresh from celebrating the tenth anniversary of his label, Truncate delivers a cast-iron groove in his remix, peppering the original with crunchy stabs and metallic delays.

On ‘Change’, atonal bleeps meet a trance-inducing vocal loop as perfectly placed drum hits dance around central trippy elements. Bringing the release to a close is ‘Hunting Dimensions’, which sees a squelching synth line morph and evolve alongside detailed FX and rolling drum patterns.

Liebing’s iconic CLR imprint, started in 1999, returned in 2021 after a five-year hiatus. Initially titled Chris Liebing Records until 2010, then Create Learn Realize until the break, and now Create Learn Repeat, CLR reemerged in the techno underground with releases from Liebing himself, followed by newcomer Frankie Bromley.

Josh Wink is as iconic as it gets in electronic music. The Philly artist crafted several of the genre’s most enduring hits early in his career and has continued to remain at the forefront of the scene ever since. His Ovum label is part of the reason for that, as are superb new tunes like this one.

Truncate is one of the new techno dons, known for his funky signature style of jackin’ tracks, along with crafting vast, all-consuming grooves that dominate dance floors. He has done so mostly on his own label and together the pair cook up some real magic on this new release.

‘Be Aware’ came about during a multi-day studio session at Truncate’s LA studio and is the first of two EPs that will be released from that same creative collaboration. Josh has been a fan of Truncate’s for years and had him remix his 2016 single ‘Shoelaces’ and 2017 single ‘Resist’, while in return Josh remixed Truncate’s 2017 tune ‘Concentrate’.

The timeless ‘Be Aware’ is a ghoulish techno track with freaky vocals that keep you looking over your shoulder. A sparse lead synth rises and falls to edgy effect, slick drums roll deep and unique tweaked effects flesh out this most well-crafted of tracks. Truncate offers his own impactful interpretation, where the tempo quickens and builds into an infectious powerful groove that has immense impact.

This EP is a perfect example of an artist collaboration, where you can equally hear the signature sound of each producer in one distinctive track. This is the first coming together of these two underground icons and the results are unsurprisingly powerful.
