2. Infinite Circus (Tensai remix)
3. Another Place
4. Interpolar
5. Mimetic Forms

Ekzon will release a new EP “Infinite Circus”’ on Sf Records.
It contains 4 tracks that have in common the representative sound of the french artist.
Analog sound patterns that he elaborates with modular synthesizers and transport you to an experimental and hypnotic atmosphere. Between drums and a rich bass, the EP is made up of very organic and shiny drums. This complete EP is the result of tribal and futuristic influences.
“Another place” is the quieter, more uptempo track, with a very punchy, bouncy chord around a heavy low kick.
“Mimetic Forms” is more melodic with an arpeggio accompanied by a big white noise playing with it.
“Infinite Circus” is purely synthetic and more enveloping. The remixed version of Tensal is as well made for the club and is very effective for a peak moment.

Anwei Huss  ‘Huss EP’

Artist: Anwei Huss
Title:  Huss EP
Label: Huss Recordings
Release Date: Friday, September 23 2022
Tracklist:
1. Saria (Autumn in Spring)
2. Moongazer
3. Sienna

Huss EP marks the debut release from Anwei Huss. The EP boldly carves out a unique stylistic space for itself within the landscape of contemporary electronic music, and sits between ‘armchair’ and ‘club’ music. The record draws upon organic soundscapes that are at once ethereal and balearic, and thoughtfully counterbalanced with deep, melodic rhythms and crisp, driving percussion. Acoustic and electronic instruments are blended with home and field recordings, creating a textured and dreamlike musical journey through comfort, disquiet and reflection.

The opening track Saria (Autumn in Spring) combines recordings of forest leaves, woodland footsteps and natural sounds with deep rhythms and psychedelic melodies. The result is an imagined journey through a dreamlike forest, charged by pulsating percussion and echoing electronica. Nostalgic samples from game levels of yesteryear are edited and tweaked into delay-driven and reverb-saturated versions, further adding to the otherworldly atmosphere of the track.

The second offering on the A-side, Moongazer, explores more ambient, ethereal soundscapes, and contrasts these with a deeper, darker rhythm and bassline. Here, experiments with percussive sounds and sonic textures conjure feelings of abstract daydreams and late night moongazing. Subtle and skilful sound manipulation underpins the production; enticing the listener with dynamic stereo and equalisation techniques alongside constantly evolving soundscapes and minimal-inspired musings.

The closing track Sienna – which makes up the entire B-side of the record – moves things into darker, more dubbed out territories. Rhythm and texture combine through deep bass elements, analogue hiss and effects-driven noise recordings that bounce and echo amid a spacey, balearic-tinged moodscape. Throughout, the laid-back tempo, driving percussion and quietly cosmic pad atmospheres come together to induce feelings of beachey psychedelia and infectiously nostalgic grooves.

The vinyl for this release has been produced using eco-conscious materials and processes. The records are pressed on 100% recycled granulate in a zero-waste factory, with a recycled kraftpack sleeve and eco-friendly labels and ink. Vinyl is available directly from the artist/label or in all good record stores from September 23, 2022. Follow or get in touch with the artist for information on vinyl pre-orders.

Following a series of remastered gems from M-Plant’s back catalogue for the “Perpetual Masters” series, Robert Hood now delivers his first new release since his 2021 Monobox album.

The release features two peak-time heavy hitters, starting out with ‘Hectic’ and its siren-like stabs calling out for people to join the dancefloor, while building the tension throughout; a skill for which Hood has become well known for.

Meanwhile ‘Amazon Dust’ takes things deeper and is somewhat reminiscent of the work on his Monobox ‘Regenerate’ album of last year.

For EPMmusic’s 100th release we’re throwing it back to another milestone. Last year, EPM celebrated 20 years in the business of Digital Distribution and Rights Management with a series of vinyl EPs and a compilation on our in-house label. Now we’ve enlisted Shed, CYRK, Inigo Kennedy and Works of Intent – all artists who we’ve had the pleasure to work with in the last 2 decades – to remix some of those ‘EPM20’ tracks.

On the A-side, the highly acclaimed and always uncompromising Shed (one of the many aliases of Berlin’s René Pawlowitz) delivers a raw and tribal take on Regis ‘Beyond The Reach Of Time’. From one legend to a current Electro phenomenon CYRK, fresh off the back of their collaborative ‘Freundschaft’ album on Burial Soil turn their hand to Freddie Fresh’s ‘ProMars’ adding their own style of tuff ‘lectro funk.

Flip over for one of the UK’s Techno warriors, Inigo Kennedy, as the Asymmetric man goes all out on his ominously epic and bass laden remix of ‘Io’ by Bryan Chapman. To close the EP is UK electronic artist and DJ, Works of Intent (f.k.a. R.O.S.H) with a twisted remix of Paul Mac’s ‘Nothing Remains’ bringing in elements of rave, breaks and sci fi sonics.

A favourite for many, Rutilance Recordings and House Puff Records boss DJ Steaw has carved a sound fusing classic house touches with his forward-thinking approach to the genre. Releasing material via Kaoz Theory, Madhouse and PIV, the Paris-based DJ, producer and label boss’ slick and sophisticated records are regularly supported by the scene’s biggest names while playing across Europe’s most renowned venues himself. Having touched down on the label to remix residents TwoSlice at the end of 2021, late September sees a return to Swerve Digital as he unveils his latest EP ‘Come Along’ – with PIV A&R M-High, and Key Records linchpin Mateo Dufour joining on remix duties.

Title cut ‘Come Along’ showcases the Frenchman’s ability to flow effortlessly between old-school influences and future- focused sonics as he delivers a skippy production guided by bubbling leads, off-kilter low-ends and sweeping pads, while ‘The End Of Time’ switches things up as dubby stabs and swirling electronics merge with echoed vocals to head to hazy late night territories.

Serving up his take on the lead track, M-High’s ‘Turned On Remix’ welcomes a garage-tinged ride through funky basslines and infectious vocal hooks, before Mateo Dufour’s remix of ‘The End Of Time’ closes the package in style as he weaves organic drums with trippy vocal snippets and zig-zagging melodies for a cavernous terrace anthem.

PACK SHOT Jauri - Kannibal - Mind Medizin Records

Jauri ‘Kannibal EP’

Artist: Jauri
Title: Kannibal EP
Label: Mind Medizin Records
Cat. #: MDZN006
Format: Digital, vinyl
Release Date: 31st August 2022
Tracklist:
01 Kannibal
02 Kannibal (Mark Broom Remix)

Influential Colombian artist Jauri steps up to Lady Tazz’s carefully curated Mind Medizin Records with a dark and steamy new techno single that includes a Mark Broom remix.

Jauri is well known in the Colombian scene as a founder of BIMOL, a well-regarded live electronic duo. This young producer has been making waves with his own textured music on labels like Kontra and now impresses with this new record.

The fantastic ‘Kannibal’ is a straight-up banger with unrelenting drums. They are well swung and heavy, with surging synth lines cantering above and incendiary hi-hats in icy ringlets. It’s a darkened warren of sound that stems you ever further down a rabbit hole in a hypnotic fashion.

The remix comes from UK techno legend Mark Broom who crafts booming kicks and powerful bass like no other. His brilliant take is more stripped back. The cantering drums are grainy and dusty, with howling synth winds blowing over the face of the track as hammering hits grow in intensity.

This is another subversive and powerful techno offering from Lady Tazz’s essential Mind Medizin Records.

Trapez-250

Giorgio Vergani ‘Independence’

Artist: Giorgio Vergini
Title: Independence
Label: Trapez
Cat. #: Trapez 250
Release date: 16. September 2022
Tracklist:
1. Independence
2. Icaro
3. Pride

Giorgio Vergani’s Debut on TRAPEZ!

Giorgio Vergani is an upstart in the electronic scene with releases on Natura Viva Black and on Traum. Keeping pretty much under the radar and working hard on music in his studio Giorgio has already received solid support from his fans.
His three tracks for Trapez show that his skill goes beyond borders.
The opening track “Independence” starts as a non-beat electronic track, ambientish and abstract but in its course adds the beats & ingredients a techno tune requires. This is the most daring and advanced track on the ep.

“Icaro” is a steady grinding track with acid like sequences dispersing energy in a great way and beats being in full forward motion. This makes the track a great soulful experience. It’s multiple layers do a great job in creating a solid rhythmic flow.

“Pride” is much richer and shoes more altitude in the acoustic architecture. The added sick sounds give the track some irregular and organic quality alongside the pounding beat.

PACK SHOT Nu Azeite - Vem Pro Mar - Cocada Music

Nu Azeite ‘Vem Pro Mar’

Artist: Nu Azeite
Title: Vem Pro Mar
Label: Cocada Music
Cat. #: CM024
Format: Digital
Release Date: 26th August 2022

Brazilian duo Nu Azeite return to Cocada Music for Vem Pro Mar, a second full-length of sunny disco and jazz-funk following 2021’s fantastic self-titled debut.

Nu Azeite brings together Rio de Janeiro talents Fabio Santanna and Bernardo Campos, both of whom have backgrounds that span MPB and house, funk and 80s disco with oodles of tropical percussion and jazzy riffs. Everything they do is rooted in the black music scenes of the 70s and 80s from the danceable beats to the storytelling Portuguese lyrics.

Fabio is the musician whose keys have been heard on albums by Marcos Valle and João Bosco, and Bernardo is the DJ who has defined the sound of his hometown as a resident of the famous RARA party and Pato com Laranja bar. Their sound mixes up contemporary touches with plenty of knowing references to the classics and this second album is a further development that dazzles on every level. It is a soundtrack to a day by the beach in Vem Pro Mar with hints of Brazilian legends like Lincoln Olivetti, Tim Maia and Jorge Ben.

The title track drops you onto a sun-kissed beach with warming synth waves and airy vocals while ‘Bate Macumba’ gets the party started with its disco-tinged grooves and ‘Água de Coco’ brings funky basslines and lush strings. Maria Thalita’s seductive vocals feature on the sunset house sounds of ‘Saudade’ and ‘Na Salineira’ has you gazing at a clear blue sky as noodling jazz-funk chords rain down from above.

It’s back to the dance floor with ‘Amor sem fim,’ the tight drums and big horn stabs bringing plenty of Latin party vibes before Maria Thalita returns to effortlessly voice the elastic downtempo grooves of ‘Te trazer pra mim’. The majestic ‘Tudo que eu queria’ pairs futuristic synth work with introspective leads and gentle grooves that make way for the tropical carnival sounds of ‘Mamåe passou no azeite’ and celebratory disco closer that is ‘Aleluia.’

Vem Pro Mar is a danceable, fun and sophisticated album of Brazilian sounds that unites the past and the future in a sunny and breezy present.

Various ‘Higher Love Vol.2’

Artist: Various
Title: Higher Love Vol.2
Label: Higher Love Recordings
Release Date: 19-8-2022

South coast sun worshipers, Higher Love Recordings, round up some likeminded music makers for their sophomore compilation, the succinctly titled, Volume 2. Serving to showcase a selection of modern machined chilled-out sounds, inspired by, indebted to, Jose Padilla`s legendary Cafe del Mar sunset soundtracks. One of the first things that struck me, is how little overlap, artist-wise, there is between this collection and its predecessor. Proving that there`s awful lot of talented folk around. Only two names appear twice. Higher Love`s Brighton neighbour, Perry Granville, reveals his Sweet Spot, which in its Love Mix, is a dark, but delicate, atmosphere. The beat slow, though pounding, peppered with reverb-ed piano, and squirts, snarls of TB-303. Buffered by brief flashes of fractured drum & bass breaks. Jezebell`s Jesse Fahnestock, in his 10.40 guise, also returns with his thoughtful track, The First Step. Where archival dialogue, emphasizing the need for an open mind (a key quote is “If you are certain, then you’re most certainly wrong”) is countered by haunting harmonies singing a chorus of, “Fools rush in”. The muted modular melody, strange, Shine Like Stars-like, and beautiful. Woozy with wonky detail.

Other folks will be familiar to fans, since they`ve previously graced the label, if not a comp. Residentes Balearicos, for example had an E.P. released on the imprint earlier this year. The brand new tune, Balearic For President, is a mid-tempo, but beefy, bounce. West Coast / Beach Boys whispers weaving around a gated riff, and busy bleeps. Muffled, muted rave rhythms supporting an impassioned Spanish strum. Bali-based Liverpudlian, Joey Fiztgerald, aka Gold Suite, who once worked his magic on the aforementioned White Islers` tune, Juno’s Dream, here lends the label, his softly skanking Lancia Stratos. Starting out as a lullaby, a serenade, with soaring Summer Madness synths, Joey seamlessly takes the tempo up, for some real Mediterranean movement, and then right back down again. Clandestino co-founder, and Shades Of Sound boss, Joe Morris, laces his Lights Of Azores with birdsong, bongos, congas, and `90s IDM squiggles, pretty chimes and friendly fractals. Spoken word samples, bumped – slowly – along by a big heartbeat boom. Groovy Gdansk guys, Jazxing, have Vijnana, from their forthcoming long-player, Pearls Of The Baltic Sea, remixed into a “Whirling Dervish” by Coyote. The Is It Balearic? boys using loose percussion and looped acoustic guitar, in a cinematic trip hop take, that paints pictures of trouble riding into a wild desert town.

Of the newcomers Leo Neelands, usually a purveyor of progressive house, and acidic analogue dance-floor madness, on the tender Tulips, switches to a gentle vapour of sustained six-string notes, emotive, ethereal cries, and a humungous bottom-end hum. Joining him, former Neon Heights main man, and sometime Ban Ban Ton Ton scribe, Cal Gibson, assuming the pseudonym, Secret Soul Society, asks the question, Where Do You Go? Applying his usual beatdown bravado to a cool dubwise creation, with a ridiculously rude b-line, and bubbling with effervescent elements. An electric axe sending out windmilling arcs. Cameron Saul, more Brighton-based talent, who has readied an album of material – produced by Ninja Tune alumni, Fink – bares his wounded soul on the bold, stark, bowed cello-ed and echoed, folk ballad, Thunder Through Rain.

Puerto Montt City Orchestra, a duo from Kent, give a shoutout to Our Patagonian Friends. One of the pair having family in Chile, his brother and niece providing the song`s Spanish vocals. A sensitive shuffle, manufactured from myriad micro-loops, the piece is lifted way out of the ordinary by some superior cool & breezy, jazzy, blues-y picking, courtesy of collaborator, Ellis Neil. Finally, Mass Density Human – who some of you might remember from a Hardway Bros remix that was huge hit in certain circles back in 2020 – emotes on the closing, climatic, synthetic, symphonic epic, Emulate. Dizzying, and dream-like, imagine 10cc`s I`m Not In Love lost in space, in zero gravity, taken dancing, out among the stars, by a colossal kick drum. Over its 12 and a half minutes, spinning ever upwards, ignoring the perils of its chosen path, Icarus-like on a rendezvous with the Sun.
