LOCUS unveil the second instalment in their VA series ‘LOCUS Trax’ with fresh material from Mathijs Smit, LaRosa, BODJ, and Nolga.

Continuing to quickly grow as one of the most-loved emerging labels in the game, LOCUS looks set to go from strength-to-strength throughout the remainder of 2022 as the FUSE family builds yet another label offering quality and consistent material from across the house sphere. Having launched their new various artist series LOCUS Trax earlier this year, TBC welcomes the arrival of the sophomore offering with four fresh productions as Groningen’s Mathijs Smit, Brooklyn’s LaRosa, Athens’ BODJ and Manchester’s Nolga all make label debuts.

Mathijs Smit’s ‘Green Hill’ is a slinking cut guided primed for peak time fun as slinking acid tinged low-ends meet playful samples and sweeping pads, while ‘Amelia’s Groove’ sees LaRosa work shuffling drums amongst warped vocals and rich melodies. Next, BODJ veers towards spacey sythns and colourful electronic motifs across ‘Back To Party City’, before Nolga lays down woozy chords on top of a no-nonsense bassline to close the show.

Shlomi Aber drops the four-track techno ‘Can’t Sleep EP’ on Chris Liebing’s CLR.

Born and raised in Israel and DJing and producing since 1994, the Be As One label head Shlomi Aber distils influences from Jazz, Funk, Minimal, Acid and beyond into his own style of Techno. Having appeared on esteemed imprints such as Cocoon, Ovum, Nonplus, Figure, and more, Shlomi Aber now readies his first release for Chris Liebing’s CLR imprint, dropping four rattling techno tracks this October.

Leading the release, ‘That’s the way I speak’ combines pumping drums and grinding synthesis with hypnotic, tripped-out vocal chops. ‘Lights on’ follows a similar pattern, introducing sizzling percussion and dense bleeps over hard-hitting four-four kicks. ‘Can’t Sleep’ sees subtle atmospherics tangled with a barrage of abrasive stabs before ‘Axon’ brings rowdy claps, heaving drums, and rave hits for a no-holds-barred finalé.

Paolo Rocco heads to Chris Stussy’s Up The Stuss imprint with his ‘To The Stars And Beyond’ EP, joined by Mandar’s Malin Genie on remix duties.

Known for creating enriching house music, Italian Canadian DJ and producer Paolo Rocco is in fine form once again as he makes his first outing on Chris Stussy’s Up The Stuss imprint. Following up a selection of material via FUSE, Berg Audio, Rutilance Records and his own RAWMoments imprint, his ‘To The Stars And Beyond’ EP is an exemplary showcase of his vast talent in the studio, delivering a selection of silky, classy, deep, and spaced-out trips. The package comes reinforced with a stand-out remix courtesy of Mandar member and Vigenere boss Malin Genie, with the Dutchman making his first outing on the label in style.

The ‘Main Mix’ of ‘To The Stars’ journeys deep as sharp electronics and sweeping pads zig-zag around the track’s striking bassline to ride the peak time and head into early morning territories, while ‘First Night Out’ flows smoothly into a hazy vocal-tinged ride through skippy drums, swirling melodies and dubby chords. On the flip, ‘Chi Chi Boogie’ lends a subtle nod to the Windy City while looking towards the future as squelchy synths, skittering percussion and rubbery bass licks merge effortlessly, before handing over to Malin Genie as he serves up a lusciously deep and resonant trip with a few slick surprises along the way.

Subradeon drop a mammoth five-track techno EP on Radio Slave’s Rekids Special Projects.

Comprising Giuseppe Salone and Salvatore Iannotta, Subradeon have been releasing quality techno on their eponymous imprint, Ben Sims’ Hardgroove, Deetron’s Character and many more since their 2017 debut on Motech. Now returning with a heavy five-tracker on Rekids Special Projects, the duo deliver a release that takes influence from the genre’s history in the Motor City while simultaneously looking forward.

Leading the release, ‘The Spirit’ opens with scintillating synths, punchy drum machines, and a recurring vocal refrain before the dense pads and rumbling percussion of ‘Your Mission’ culminate in a breakdown peppered with spoken word. ‘Moonshine’ sees rocking drums and fluttering instrumentation collide before ‘Break That Pattern’ reaches for trippy stereo FX and sharp sound design. ‘Human Resistance’ closes the release with a flurry of synthesised strings and spoken word clashing over pumping kicks and claps.

Following material from original residents Rich NxT, Rossko, Seb Zito, and Archie Hamilton through to regular guests and close friends such as Guti, East End Dubs, Michael James, and Fabe, October sees Siragusa showcase both his and FUSE’s evolution over the past decade as he uncovers two bustling productions across his ‘Dreamscape’ EP.

A production oozing with his signature sound, yet introducing fresh subtleties in amongst the track’s snaking groove and hypnotic melodies, ‘Dreamscape’ welcomes a title cut full of energy as the FUSE boss picks up right where he left off to provide yet more heavily requested material on home turf. Undeniably one of the country’s most accomplished electronic names, the Neopolitan DJ, producer and label boss has solidified his position in recent years with the continued evolution of his groovy yet tough sound, releasing material via labels such as Paco Osuna’s Mindshake and Joseph Capriati’s REDIMENSION alongside his own AnalyticTrail imprint. Continuing in a similar fashion, late September welcomes a first appearance on Eats Everything and Andres Campo’s EI8HT as he delivers four powerful cuts and pays homage to his hometown across his ‘Neapel’ EP.
