Octan Ibiza unveils new look roof-terrace ahead of Summer launch

Tickets: http://octanibiza.com/

Octan Ibiza has spent the many months of Covid-closure working hard to refurbish its famous open-air Terrace, as well as planning a big return to dancing once restrictions are lifted later this summer.

There is already a big programme in place for as soon as the club opens. As usual, you can expect that the world’s best house and techno DJs will play, with line-ups coming as soon as restrictions are lifted and the Ibiza government makes a full announcement of their plans.

In 2019, the brand new Octan quickly established itself as a White Island favourite for those looking for a more underground experience. It boasted a first-ever weekly Apollonia residency with Planet Claire as well as parties like Steve Lawler’s Warriors. With a bold exterior featuring expressive artwork that immediately stands apart, the club has three spaces – The Lab, The Basement and The Terrace.

The Terrace has been refurbished and repainted in the last year. It now boasts a central 25m square bar that makes it much easier to order drinks. It also brings everyone together in the middle of the terrace for an extra cosy vibe and lively atmosphere beneath a clear-blue Ibiza sky. The walls are adorned with colourful designs from acclaimed Leeds artist Nicholas Dixon, and also contain the hustle and bustle of the crowd who will be chilling and drinking outside. There is now also a large seating area with some suspended shade from the beating sun, just in case you need to take a break from the main action.

Meanwhile, the club’s Basement is the perfect underground space for those who like it dark and raw. It has low ceilings and a world-class sound system with sleek and stripped back styling. The Lab is the third and final space with its own low key and immersive lighting making it an atmospheric space of pure hedonism. Winter will see the Basement and Lab spaces get further updates ready for a big comeback and full capacity parties from May – October 2022.

Music and Meditation Platform MEYA Announces Jamie Jones and Lee Burridge as New Equity Partners

Well-being, music, and meditation platform MEYA has announced electronic music’s leading artists Jamie Jones and Lee Burridge as new equity partners. The respective producers will contribute exclusive tracks and meditation remixes to the app as part of their “Music Mind Journeys” series, which bridges the gap between electronic music, meditation and mental and spiritual wellbeing.

The collaborative project aims to transcend the typical confines of meditation, interweaving multi-level brainwave entrainment and vocal guidance with the deeply immersive experiences and psychoacoustic effects achieved through music. This unique fusion allows users to make meditation easier and more enjoyable, as listening to a favourite song, and as immersive and inspiring as an unforgettable experience on the dancefloor.

Fans of electronic music know the genre has an ability to trigger states of deep presence,

elevation, and connectedness, similar to those achieved through meditation. MEYA harnesses and infuses specific sound frequencies and rhythmic arrangements in its meditation practices in order to trigger the same deep or peak moments that Jamie and Lee are renowned for.

Speaking on the MEYA platform, Jamie Jones stated “What I like about MEYA is that I’ve always found the different frequencies that are used to record music very interesting. I came across 432hz a few years before I discovered the MEYA app. I was really intrigued to find out whether your body did feel differently listening to music tuned to this frequency. I noticed I only had to meditate for half as long to get the same feeling. I felt that the combination of mediation and the sounds available made it much easier and more effective in a shorter period of time. It definitely feels like you get more out of it without having to be as advanced or meditate for as long.”

Jamie’s first exclusive MEYA production sets the stage for a special Music Mind Journey titled “Choice”. It’s a dreamlike track featuring delicate piano and relaxing synth work that is perfect for letting go and giving yourself a moment of calm. This feeling is enhanced by embedded vocal guidance that, like a guided meditation, invites listeners to breathe and achieve a deep state of presence, acceptance, and self-love.

Lee Burridge’s first contribution to the platform is a unique remix of his iconic track “Float On” from the collaborative 2019 album Melt on Lost Desert. The song pulls listeners into the melodic and entrancing world that All Day I Dream has fostered over the past decade at events around the world. Now, a meditation remix of the song is available to MEYA users looking to dig deeper and understand the concept of awakening and achievement more fully, featuring vocals inviting listeners to “change your perspective on life…from a victim mentality to a victorious reality.”

The revolutionary MEYA platform harnesses the human affinity for rhythm and connectivity through dance to help users reduce stress, quieten the mind, and reach meditative states more easily and deeply. The peak experiences and flow states felt on the dance floor can be translated into science-backed practice, bringing moments of awakening into everyday life.

Each stage of the MEYA journey – Music, Mind, and Awakening – is enriched with binaural beats and is recorded in 432hz, a healing frequency used in ancient traditions that facilitates relaxation and alleviates physical and emotional stress. Each meditation session is available with a wide selection of music genres: from ambient soundscapes to organic downtempo shamanic rhythms and uplifting electronic beats in order to assist with focus, sleep, meditation, movement, motivation, relaxation, and inspiration.

In MEYA founder Raffaele Ricci’s own words, “We are very excited to have Lee and Jamie on board, sharing the same vision to create electronic music to help mental and spiritual well-being.” Our aim is to make meditation as easy and enjoyable as listening to a song and extend “beyond meditation” by sharing practices and insights to help unleash the inner power that we all have inside. Our mission is to help our users achieve an empowered and awakened mindset, equipping them with the tools to transform any life challenge into an opportunity.

With clubs and festivals having been impacted globally, MEYA and their artists believe there has never been a more pivotal time to remember the unifying power of music and its quantifiable psychological and physiological benefits.

With over 15,000 users, 200 specially crafted tracks, and 100 guided meditation courses, MEYA offers a complete toolbox for those looking to maximize their mental and emotional potential in a turbulent world.

Download MEYA today to begin your mindfulness, meditation, and awakening journey.

More About MEYA

Why does MEYA combine Music, Dance, and Meditation?

Music has the ability to shift our state of mind – from mood enhancement and relaxation to a sense of connection with others in a shared space. Similarly, meditation reduces the stress hormone cortisol, improves sleep, and rewires the brain.

Those who have attended dance music events and concerts know the feeling of connectivity shared between crowds, creating a single entity made from many unique participants. MEYA harnesses this idea of a “vibe” in a quantifiable psychological and physiological method.

Combining music and meditation is not a traditional way to meditate, but it has proven to work. When we are lost in music we get a taste of nirvana naturally without any rigorous training. MEYA leverages the power of music to switch off the mind, making meditation easier and more enjoyable than ever.

MEYA App Content

MEYA Music – Productions categorized by focus, chill, sound healing, sleep, and binaural beats.

MEYA Dance Meditation – A full category dedicated to Dance Meditation journeys: a combination of uplifting dance tracks combined with embedded vocal guidance, well-being practices, insights, positive affirmations, and visualization.

MEYA Mind – A multi-level course to master your mind, overcome your limiting beliefs, and achieve your personal goals. Also included are guided meditations, affirmations, mental coaching, NLP and hypnotic visualization aids to help sleep, and a specialized performance and productivity optimization section.

Music Awakening –  A seven-level course with over 50 Music Mind Journeys aimed to help to trigger an awakened mentality through providing insights and practices which train the mind to find the opportunity in all of life’s challenges.

Bye Bye Plastic launch Clean The Beat

Clean The Beat – party with a purpose, in new musically-powered eco-action cleanup program launching from Bye Bye Plastic Foundation/BLOND:ISH

Success of launch event sets the tone for global program’s future

To be transported to a secret exotic location, to hear brilliant DJs play B2B, but with an exciting new twist – to clean up the planet as you ‘party with a purpose’. Clean The Beat (CTB) is a new global event series of artist-led, music-powered beach and city cleanups, with, crucially, sharply focused end goals for the resulting plastic collected. Namely, ‘circularity’ to extend the life cycle of plastic by putting it back into the long term economy, and data collection for vital research. Sorting, counting and classifying each item creates an essential new record of information about the scale, and nature, of the plastic problem.

This vitally important initiative is being launched by Bye Bye Plastic Foundation, beloved brain-(and heart-) child of Vivie-Ann Bakos aka BLOND:ISH, already at the forefront of establishing ‘sustainable raving’ and creators of the ‘my Eco Rider’ movement to eliminate single-use plastic from DJ booths, music events, and festivals.

This new global program Clean The Beat with its three pillared approach (music, circularity, data collection) next visits Tulum (set for Nov/Dec 2021, in partnership with conservation collective Planet Buyback – more details TBA), Barcelona, Amsterdam (at ADE), and Bali, and possibly a 2.0 in Miami Beach, now all even more highly anticipated following the success of May’s CTB launch event in Miami with a music line-up of aDios, Archila x Differ, Malone x Ella Wild, Apache x Layla Benitez, Monoky, while BLOND:ISH with other Miami-based DJs joined the 100+ beach cleaners who participated; way to get the message out there! The goal 3,000 pounds of trash was surpassed, actually 3,136 were collected; something to celebrate, yet a terrifying reflection of the threat to our environment right now, and how more than ever, a program like this is absolutely needed within our scene.

More on ‘circularity’: it’s one thing to collect discarded plastic, but another to do something more than throw it in a recycling bin, to end up back on the beach further down the line. Of all the items collected, outweighing the rest by far were plastic bags and plastic bottles; 1300 and 1000 respectively. This is where CTB’s partners come in, in this case local non-profit Clean Miami Beach and RecycleGO and Precious Plastic, to assist with the conversion of plastic trash into valuable raw material and products with their own long-term value. By collecting and disseminating data on this, BBP will also aid research on the issues and possible solutions worldwide.
Watch out for more Clean The Beat events as the movement grows!

Dates of following events TBD, with Tulum set for Nov/Dec 2021 partnered with conservation fundraising foundation Planet Buyback.

Sónar Lisboa 2022 aims to stand at the forefront of culture and will build bridges between artists, citizens and the creative industries (audiovisual, gaming, animation, robotics, virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence,,,). Sónar Lisbon will be an international celebration of talent and creativity. Established and upcoming names will be carefully curated  following the festival’s groundbreaking criteria.

For three days, Sónar Lisboa 2022 will ensure a flow of people moving through Lisbon to discover the day and night time programmes. During the day, visitors will be able to experience art exhibitions, join conversations and interact with community-related initiatives. At night, a wide offer of concerts and audio-visual experiences awaits.

The entire curatorship of the festival has sustainability as an underlying principle, and is one of the key subjects for the conversations, debates, concerts, and exhibitions. Sónar Lisbon will be a festival committed to the environment from its inception and throughout its development: it will be a green event, prioritising local initiatives and making a special effort to measure energy consumption and emissions in various areas of the festival to calculate its ecological footprint. Staff members and attendees will be invited to adopt good environmental practices ranging from waste treatment to gastronomic offerings to water treatment.

Sónar Lisboa 2022 is organized by Pixel Harmony, which brings together the partners Made of You (Gustavo Pereira, Paulo Amaral, Raul Duro), João Wengorovius Meneses, Patricia Craveiro Lopes, Gonçalo Félix da Costa and Kiss, and it is supported by Turismo de Portugal, Municipality of Lisbon and Turismo de Lisboa.
