Sisko Electrofanatik’s record label Gain Records welcomes a dark and driving peak time techno release from Marbox, which also includes a remix by Mozzy Rekorder.

Marbox is an Italian artist from Turin whose style is a fusion of explosive percussion and menacing synth lines that create hard-hitting grooves. He is making his Gain Records debut following releases on respected techno imprints such as Odd Recordings, JAM, Codex, Reload and Riot.

Stepping up on remix duty, Mozzy Rekorder is a Gain Records regular who blends enthralling synth lines and high-velocity percussion to produce tracks that have unrelenting momentum. His tracks and remixes can also be found on other scene-leading record labels ranging from Terminal M to OFF Recordings.

“Unconventional” is first of the two originals and it opens the release with a monstrous kick drum, juddering high-end percussion and a hypnotic vocal sample, which lays the foundation for sweeping dystopian synths.

Mozzy Rekorder’s remix of Unconventional works in a pulsating bassline and acid synth line, which along with the original’s brutal percussion, creates a tantalising rework.

“Green Eyes Speaking” closes the release with fast-paced percussion rhythms and a thumping kick drum that’s overlaid with the ominous tones of spine-tingling synths. Its industrial undertones and stripped-back sound design deliver a ruthless energy.

Black Light Smoke shares through his forthcoming ‘Ghosts’ album an intriguing and personal way to interpret house music. The tracks are inspired by typical 90s/oldschool motifs and styles, which feature melancholic and introspective states of mind, conditions empowered by the kind of samples used: well sounding drum machine loops (hardware geeks will recognize them), a less is more approach to build the groove patterns that integrate well with other part of the tracks such as basslines, pads or synths. Scissor and Thread hosts another great composition, bearing an authentic witness of sound research and depart from the mainstream electronic music.

Mattia Trani’s ‘Scenery’ album was published in June 2021 and featured a set of fifteen futuristic and well designed techno, electronica and broken beat productions; after two years from that release he’s set to show off a remix compilation featuring attracting and groovy sounds. All the interpretations recall them original mixes motifs and are structured into four to the floor patterns, thanks also to juicy and appealing instrumentals the whole package becomes significant and fulfilling. Without focussing too much on each remixer name – we can find both newcomers and experienced artists – the tracks presented share a nice and hot vibe, easily catching the listener’s attention – that’s a great thing difficult to find in most of the contemporary productions. Another blazing feature of this compilation is the variance of styles offered, which represent the wide and neverending way to interpret the diversity of techno substyles.

Watergate moves to summer season with an embracing and welcoming release made by Lehar: ‘Let People Know EP’ features a set of four outstanding productions (2 originals and 2 remixes) that will heaten the dancefloors all over the world. The title track is a genuine mixture of tech house and melodic house: an electro bassline surrounds the whole instrumental adding deepness, while the vocal and the arpeggio line add a mesmerizing sensation. Follows ‘Whispers’ which maintains that kind of melodic style, although the sound is decise and strengthened than before.
On the remix job we see the names of Luke Alessi and Mia Mendi, who opt to rearrange the title track: mr. Alessi adapts the theme into a tech house instrumental introducing an acid bassline and tribal percussions, while the Mia Mendi duo choose a mystical and introspective way to shape the sounds; their approach to the music is recognizable and help to close the EP adding style variety.

Just after the recent publication of Ango Tamarin’s ‘No Escape’ the label Truesoul puts out an incredible two tracker: it has been made by Carlio Lio and Boris and its deserves some attention. ‘Dime Lo’ – which is the title track – and ‘Hand Clap’ are two amazing and dancefloor inspired songs, with a large low-end sound spectrum and straight drum loops. On each instrumental the artists create hypnotic combinations, a factor that contribute to add a unique catchiness to the whole release.

BOHO’s record label, Jannowitz drops a dark and driving debut album from Blake Strange who’s a talented peak time techno artist from Sydney, Australia.

Blake Strange is well known within the Australian club scene, and his style switches between epic melodic house and thundering techno. This album showcases the harder side of his sound, but he has also dropped deeper tracks via labels such as Oliver Koletzki’s Stil Vor Talent.

Jannowitz is a prolific record label and Blake Strange is part of a roster that also includes people ranging from Teenage Mutants to Alex Stein. This is Blake Strange’s second time on Jannowitz, following up from the Phantom EP he released at the start of 2023.

The album features a total of nine tracks, including five solo originals by Blake Strange alongside collaborations with Jakob, Rad.Lez and BOHO. There are two separate remixes on the album provided by Mr. Bizz and Mala Ika.

Mr. Bizz are an Italian duo with an eclectic style and they deliver a melodic techno remix in the style they have released via Katermukke and Yoshitoshi. They have also featured techno tracks on labels such as Dubfire’s SCI+TEC, Monika Kruse’s Terminal M and Sian’s Octopus.

Mala Ika is a melodic house artist from France whose style orientates around indie dance, but also touches on other melodic genres. Her upbeat remix is in the style she has featured on Watergate Records plus her own Weirdos Records.

Opening the release is the collaboration with BOHO called “Alter Ego” which fuses rumbling sub-bass with gritty synths that create a dystopian atmosphere. Second is the collaboration with Rad.Lez titled “Push” and it’s a throbbing techno track that builds towards an epic breakdown before the drums slam back in.

“Velvet Eyes” lifts the intensity with its eerie atmospherics and arpeggio that ripples with electrifying tones. The fourth track is the Mr. Bizz remix of Push, which adds a more relaxed bassline and soaring synths to the original to create an expansive version with an epic sound.

“Finders Keepers” is an unnerving track with haunting sound design layered over a pounding kick drum. The sixth track is Mala Ika’s remix of Alter Ego, which adds fluttering melody synths to create a twisted euphoria and uplifting vibe that she underpins with the energetic flow of a new bassline.

“Arrival” increases the tension before the ominous vocals and a speaker tearing synths of “Obey”. Track eight is the collaboration with Jakob titled “Nightcrawler” and it’s got a pulsating bassline and shadowy atmosphere.

All the original tracks have driving percussion and a stripped back sound design with sweeping synths shrouded in dark atmosphere.

Sabo’s record label Sol Selectas welcomes a dramatic Afro house EP from Safar (FR).

Safar (FR) is a French artist with African roots and his music blends his multicultural background to create organic tracks with flowing percussion. Blending the electronic sounds of his European upbringing with the tribal rhythms of Africa, Safar (FR)’s music has been featured on influential record labels such as Deep Root Tribe, MoBlack Records and Moon Black Records.

This is Safar (FR)’s third time working with Sol Selectas after he previously featured a track on the label’s Summer Sol VII compilation and also remixed a track by ARKADYAN.

“The Lost Tribe” builds tension with rising pads underpinned by vibrant percussion sequenced into its a stomping groove with free-flowing elements. Tribal chants add to the ceremonial vibe that’s augmented with spiralling synths to create an energetic groove that’s full of tantalising suspense.

“Memelles” powerful vocals and pulsating synths that are cut by heavy percussion to create a jerking groove with Afro flavour. Powerful offbeat rhythms and spine-tingling synths combine with poignant piano melodies on this dance floor focused track that has a cinematic sound with epic atmosphere.

The cover by Helia Jamali portrays the lost tribe portal as they are entering new dimensions.
