Tibi Dabo unveils ‘Licht’, the first of three singles taken from his forthcoming debut album ‘Vista’ on Crosstown Rebels.

Barcelona-born, Berlin-based producer and tastemaker Tibi Dabo walks the line between classic and cutting-edge sonics, journeying deep into rich textures, merging the past, present and future. With a formal background playing the drums and touring Europe and the US with his band, he also has a deep love of electronic music, which leads to a never-ending and absorbing string of experimentation across his material under the Tibi Dabo alias. Releasing a wealth of material on his adopted home label Crosstown Rebels over the years, including original material and remixes of Guti & Dubshape, Carl Craig & Dubfire, and the label boss himself, it makes sense that Damian Lazarus’ renowned imprint welcomes his debut album later in the year. The long-player is set to showcase some of his strongest and most creatively unrestricted material to date and offer up a statement body of work, hinted at and previewed by this superb first single ‘Licht’ – his first material back on the label since 2022’s excellent ‘Isla’ EP.

The majestic ‘Licht’ is a mellifluous mix of lithe synth work and rubbery basslines that are fluid as can be. The tightly interwoven groove bubbles zip amongst radiant energy as wispy synths break out. It’s a sublime and supple concoction that cannot fail to make you want to cut loose on the dance floor and get lost in its subtle cosmic radiance and a charming first offering from the new school tastemaker’s forthcoming LP.
